This is it: the seven main cliques of people in high school, a place where everyone needs to fit in. You can identify them quite easily, however.
Everyone can rattle off the list of cliques from "Mean Girls" or "10 Things I Hate About You," but do you belong to one of them?
This bundle contains lesson plans for fourteen 25 minute lessons. Besides the lesson plans, the bundle contains PowerPoint presentations to go along with each lesson as well as PDFs of posters used in the lessons. The purpose of the lessons is to allow for discussion about how to find good friends (discuss cliques and popularity) and how to handle friendship problems (including peer pressure and cyberbullying). When creating the anti-bullying lessons, Leanne integrated what she knows about the social-emotional needs of young adolescents in combination with her expertise in teaching reading and writing. The lessons incorporate problem-solving, reading, and writing skills. Leanne recommends using these lessons with grades 7-9, but they could also be used in grades outside this age range. Lesson Sequence: Introductory Lesson (1 session): First experience with the book Bully by Patricia Polacco Lessons 1-4 (7 sessions): Focus on friendship and making good friends (cliques, popularity) Lessons 5-7 (6 sessions): Focus on handling friendship problems (peer pressure, cyberbullying) Lessons 8 (1 session): This is a reflection lesson that relates back to everything that was covered in the bullying prevention lessons.
Pretty in Pink is a 1986 American romantic comedy-drama film about love and social cliques in 1980s American high schools. It is commonly identified as a "Brat Pack" film. Pretty in Pink featured a soundtrack composed mostly of new wave music. While director Howard Deutch originally intended the film to primarily contain theme music, Hughes influenced Deutch's decision to use post-punk music throughout the film. The title song by the Psychedelic Furs acted as a bit of inspiration for the film and was re-recorded specifically for the film's opening sequence in a version that was less raw than the original; it was released in 1981 for the album Talk Talk Talk. "Left of Center" was remixed by Arthur Baker. The first track, "If You Leave", by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, was written in 1985 in advance specifically for the film. ------ Pretty in Pink Original Soundtrack Cover is VG+ Tape is VG+ and plays great ------ Vintage cassettes are never perfect and may have some slight audio imperfections. This is a lit log for The Principal's Underwear Is Missing (written and illustrated by Holly Kowitt). The graphic illustrations greatly assist the reluctant reader. This humorous book deals with some serious issues that upper elementary/middle school students deal with daily: personal/social issues; friendships; frenemies; bullying; teasing; pranks; growing up; cliques and interest groups; and parent and school expectations and rules. This lit log can be used as a guide for direct reading instruction (guided reading, novel study, literature circle, close reading) or to assist during a read aloud. The key focus skills in the lit log are: 1. analyze how visual elements contribute to text; 2. use text to explain/draw inferences (make predictions); 3. describe point of view; and 4. use text to determine meaning of words/phrases. Other focus skills in the lit log are: 1. determine theme/summarize (sequence events) and 2. describe/compare/contrast characters, setting, events.
