I love my bed! Today I finally put the ruffled bed skirt I ordered months ago, on my bed. It's so perfect. I really don't know why I waited so long. I am sure if your into looking at the decorating blogs you probably have seen this bed skirt before, used as a table cloth too ( I also have another as a table cloth). But you may wonder how mine seems to have so many more ruffles. Well it's because I used two of the bed skirts. Then you may wonder then how I was able to get enough separation to layer the two bed skirts. So I will show you. First I put the bed skirt over the box springs like normally you would do with a bed skirt. I just have bed box springs on the ground not lifted up by any frame, because I do not like little bunny Fufu to go under by bed all the time. Also I have so many memory foam mattress pads on my bed it would be to tall if the box springs were lifted at all. Having the box springs on the floor is what gives the ruffles the hanging on the floor look. In my guest bedroom I have this same bed skirt ( only one though) and the bed is lifted in that room and the bed skirt does not touch the ground, so it really depends on the look you want, I think I like hanging on the floor better but the guestroom bed skirt looks good also. Then I put my mattress on top of the box springs and put the 2nd bed skirt over it instead of a sheet. Now here my bed still looks too short. My secret is all the memory foam mattress pads I put on next. All the memory foam makes the bed so comfy you litterly sink in. My moms says its hard to get back up after you lay in my bed because you sink in so much Lol. But I love it, its so comfy. After I put all the memory foam back on (like 6 or 7 layers of it) I put on the sheet over all the memory foam rather then over the mattress which is being covered by the 2nd bed skirt.. That's how I create the look of so many ruffles. Link to where you can get the bedskirt Then when its all done, and all my layering is complete, you can't tell at all that the bed is just sitting on the ground, because it is plenty high enough. The pink bedding is also new, I found it yesterday at Goodwill it is a part of the line " Simply Shabby Chic " By Rachel Ashwell my favorite designer. My other bedding is also apart of this line and I am still keeping it too. But I am just going to switch back and forth while I'm washing one or the other. Which will be great because my bed is a king, & it's always hard to wash my comforter. It barely fits in the washer, and does not get dry in the dryer, so I hang it out to dry but it takes two or three days to do so. So it will be wonderful to have two bed spreads now. Whats so neat about my new comforter is its reversable! The problem is I can't decide which side I like better, I love both sides. I think I am a tid bit leaning to the first side that I showed in first picture, but then again I don't know because the other side goes almost perfect with the shower curtain in Master bathroom When you are laying in the bed you can see down into the master bathroom, and its looks nice with the comfter and shower curtain almost being matching but not quite exactly the same. My shower curtain is also a part of the same line as the bedding. Picture above being side one picture below being side, two which side of the comforter do you think is better? I just love how long carnations last. This one is one from my blue ball jar full in the kitchen that I showed in a picture I put on my countertop post two weeks ago. I must have bought these flowers like 15 or 16 days ago and they still look great! Oh and isn't this little pink bottle I found at Goodwill the other day just adorable? I had to lock Bella & Lacie out while I was taking the pictures for this post, meanwhile they were scratching at the door. They always want to be in the pictures Lol, so I let them in to take a few pics hehe they are so cute. I love my girls. I guess all that scartching at the door tired them out. I took these photos just now as I am laying here with them in bed, doing this post. Sleepy Lacie. Click To Follow Me Parties I love!! "Peace -- that was the other name for home." ~Kathleen Norris I can't believe that it is November (I know I say that every month.)! A part of me is shocked that time is passing so quickly and the other part of me just wishes it was CHRISTMAS! It's coming though and I love the days leading up to it. I will just have to be patient. I have been so busy lately - thankyou to the lovely people who have been ordering commissions lately! What a wonderful, happy kind of busy! This weekend I have balanced between art"work" and family time and I have loved every minute of it. I haven't had a lot of extra minutes to take pictures this week because there has been so much happening but I did manage to snap these few and play with them late one evening. -------->What I love about my home: the softness of everything, the flowers, the ivory walls, the way everywhere you look there is something pretty, the ambience, the coziness, and all of the old-fashioned things. P.S. I included a my favorite corner of one of my recent commissions at the end. I love the curly haired girl!

Because windows have the ability to change the appearance of an entire room in the house, it is critical to pay close attention to them when decorating. If you don't like curtains and prefer light to flow freely into your home, "empty" windows can be dull and uninteresting. However, your windows and the entire space will gain freshness and get rid of monotony with the help of these 6 decorative solutions that we will give below. Make sure you check the list to find out more!
Happy Weekend! I hope you are enjoying your weekend. We are still working on losing our here, but slowly it is going and it is nice to see a few daffodils poking up in the few places that the snow has melted. Above is a shot of our bedroom. I found these two dreamy lace dresses at the thrift store this weekend and as luck would have it, they both fit me. I think I should have a creamy lace garden tea party this summer! Dreamy This baby christening gown is more then 100 years old. Roses Hoping your weekend is the stuff dreams are made of! Carolyn

My new bedding is very similar to my previous bedding. Both are rosey Rachel Ashwell patterns. The only real difference is the background on the last one was a purple-ish pink, and this one is white. This is also a duvet cover the other was a comforter, that is actually in the duvet cover right now hehe. I got both my of the bedding sets at Goodwill. Our local Goodwill's resells Target returns and I have been finding a lot of simply shabby chic stuff. I was very excited that this king size duvet cover also came with two king size pillow shams. My last comforter did not come with the matching shams, I just had one twin size one I found at Goodwill on a different day. The price I paid for the whole set at Goodwill was what it cost just two buy the two shams at Target. The Fur babies all seem to like the new bedding. I have to shut the door to keep them out while taking pictures they all want on the bed, and were scratching the door the whole time. My sister took this pic of my babies and I, yesterday while she was over. This was with the previous bedding, as you can see very very similar. In pictures you can hardly tell it's more of a different color in real life. This is a cell phone pic of us, its not showing how pink the bedspread really is. I love it but I loved my other one as well, but it's fun to mix things up, I can always go back to the pink background anytime. I probably will be sharing some more of my recently simply shabby chic Goodwill finds soon, so stay tuned for more. I just love Simply Shabby Chic, everything Rachel Ashwell sells is amazing. Thanks for visiting my blog. See you next time.

I've been working on a few projects for my booth spaces. This antique 1940's vanity has great bones, but the old dark stain just wasn't what we modern day vintage lovers are looking for. So, with the help of some Faux Real Mineral and chalk paint, in the color Grigio, I transformed this pretty girl. This antique vanity now takes center stage... I distressed it and dry brushed some white to soften the finish. It's in my shop space at Fancy Flea 2 waiting on a new home. My next project was another 1940's antique wardrobe. Again, it was the dark stain that was typical for furniture produced in that era. I painted it with Faux Real Mineral and Chalk paint in the color Bella. I used a dark wax to soften the color and distressed it in various places. It's also in my shop space at Fancy Flea 2. Coming soon to my Etsy shop, Jeanne d'Arc Living Hat Boxes. These hat boxes are custom made in Denmark and they are stunners! Let me know if you'd like to pre-order because quantity is limited. Okay, that's it for now. Everyone have a lovely week. ~~hugs~~ Sissie

My girls have always loved to play dress up, so Halloween is a fun time for us. No spooky stuff for us though. We have always had a "Fall Festival" at church to make it a fun time. Tonight is the big night for Sara at work and a party afterwards. I sure hope she wins best costume because she is all natural (when it comes to that red hair of hers, lol). She is an excellent make up artist though! Trying on her costume and getting the hair right the night before. That bow was a challenge to make since the fabric is polyester. I had to line it with a stiff material then make it into a bow. Bobby pins are a God send. Just her normal make up here and no curled hair...but I was so smitten with her! My little Ariel! Here she is all dolled up and ready for the evening. I smile just looking at this! She has always loved Little Mermaid...now she is her! Just perfect! Now....look at Hannah! She's following in her sister's footsteps with make up. They are both so talented! She wanted to go as a scary doll...love those eyebrows and those piercing eyes! Patent leather Mary Janes and the socks I had to make since you can't find them anymore. Remember in the 80's, these were the rage with jelly shoes? I had lots of them! I am amazed at the originality they both have when it comes to their imagination. I am all about not spending money on costumes....we like to make them. Hannah had everything except the socks, bow and lace. Good ole MOM made those. They definitely do not follow the crowd. My girls are awesome! Hannah and her friends went to the local Mall and my hubby told me that she was a hit. Everyone loved her costume and even those long legs of hers, lol. So I hope everyone is enjoying this Halloween and eating lots of candy. I know I am relaxing and trying to stay warm. They are calling for snow tonight!

Shabby chic bedroom decor ideas – create your own personal romantic oasis A shabby chic bedroom decor gives the past days and epochs a romantic and nostalgic touch. You do…
I love my bed!
