WHAT'S ITALIANDIPITY? It's not always easy to use words to describe eagerness, emotions and feelings; there's a tendency to become banal and to use the limits of meaning to explain concepts that have no limits at all. ITALIANDIPITY IS ... ...
The average age of the residents was 26 and the city had 16,000 children under the age of 16. Life in Pripyat was paradise compared to many places in the Soviet Union and people competed to live there. Soviet education was organized in a highly centralized government-run system. Its advantages were total access for all citizens and post-education employment. The Soviet Union recognized that the foundation of their system depended upon complete dedication of the people to the state through education in the broad fields of engineering, the natural sciences, the life sciences and social sciences, along with basic education.

We came across Lectoure whilst walking the Camino de Santiago and fell head over heels for the city and the region. We loved everything: the architecture of the buildings in light limestone, the hilly landscapes reminiscent of Tuscany, the Mediterranean vegetation, the inhabitants, the cultural and commercial offering, the gastronomy, and the art of living. For us, Lectoure and the Gers can be summed up in four words: the sweetness of life. The pink sunrises and sunsets over the Pyrenees remind us every day that we made the right choice.

Ma

"The places that once knew Marie Antoinette now know her forever." ~Grace Greenwood I have a new purchase that I have been very excited to share! I have wanted this piece for sooooo long and finally after Christmas I bought it! I'm sure you already know that I LOVE the creations of Dana at Lambs and Ivy - her incredible ribbon work flowers are amazing. She listed this necklace awhile ago and I thought that it was stunning. When it arrived and I took it out of it's wrapping I was literally speechless. The detail is just breath taking! It looks perfect on my Free People lace dress and I am so thrilled with it. Thankyou Dana for your gorgeous creations and for your friendship! I put out these two little pink glass cake stands together the other day and filled them with pearls and some ribbon and tulle flowers. I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner! I am sharing with: Make it Pretty Monday
Last week I was visiting a friend from whom I purchase many chippy finds from. She invited me over to show me a mantle I might be interested in. And while I was there she let me into her office/studio.
A blog/website for my Custom Slipcover workroom in Ohio. Current updates about my latest slipcover creations.
I know you know that I use sheets and such for making my slipcovers, but did you know that I use bedding too? The Bella Rose Blue fabric that I wanted to add more accents of to my kitchen was pricey at $30 a yard, I couldn't afford it until I found this bedding at Target. Maybe you can tell that the color is a little more aqua on the original fabric compared to the bedding. But at a distance, it looks great together! This was the shade I had above our dining table that I had to move due to that fact. I made another shade to match all that I added to the kitchen. Here you can see that it's a little more of a true blue. The chair back covers added what I was so desiring! A little romance and color! Yes, I said color.... Making them for the backs of the island chairs really helped too. I absolutely love my kitchen now! Adding more ruffles to the plain white curtains really did the trick by making it all look cohesive. With the pink and green accent colors, they tie nicely into everything else I have. Like our shutters and the green picket planter on the island. I have been toying with which way I want the island. Facing the sink or the stove....which do you like? I even made another slipcover for the lampshade on the counter. Made it perfect! The bedding sure has been fun to work with after I ripped it all apart. Hard to believe someone would buy brand new bedding and do that, isn't it?! Now let's see...what else can I do with the other side of the comforter?
It feels like an age since we were winding up for Easter, doesn't it? Or maybe it's just me. We were away for the long weekend, and I always like to get in a bit of digging around into new places. It makes me feel like I've been gone longer than I actually have. I thought I would bring you out onto the spring patio where the light is best and show off a few new thrilling finds. The "herbes" painted box is a local find from a great dealer who does a terrific job of dolling things up, but still manages to keep prices low. And the new ironstone pitcher was a find from my trip before last in Lubbock, TX. I discovered a wonderful newish shop in my daughter's town with a dealer that loves linens like I do. Finding this old cotton dress just made my day! Plain and simple, and no-frills beautiful. I just love the look of old garments hanging in a room. Nearly worn to shreds, but with plenty of nobility still left in its folds. In the loosest and most general way possible it reminds me of the gown that Keira Knightley wears in Pride and Prejudice when she first visits Mr. Darcy accidently at Pemberley. Love that scene. (Her dress is long, with long sleeves, and crosses in front. She wears it with boots. . . . But I digress. . . ) A different booth had this wonderful ruffled apron. The body and ties are a crisp organdy, but the waistband and ruffle are of a luscious soft handkerchief linen. The ticking stripe pillow underneath was another Lubbock find, and fits perfectly on my old French rush seat stool. Love the farmhouse vibe! The ruffled white Victorian parasol is the big star of the weekend (from the same shop). How can something so ragtag make you so happy!? But there truly is nothing quite like finding wonderful pieces of old. All silky, delicate, and water stained. . . . Just look at those feminine curves! And now time for a wardrobe change! The last thing I'm showing is a perfect and delightful antique lady's blouse like something Mrs. Selfridge would wear. (If you don't already know about the PBS series Mr. Selfridge, you need to find out asap! OMG! The clothes!) I don't know what the wonderful light woven checked fabric is called, do you? Hand-worked buttonholes. The back is even prettier than the front! The sailor collar of handkerchief linen comes to a gentle peak at the center. Cotton tape ties and tucks. (I just bought some of this at LaurieAnna's in Canton, TX. The cuffs are meant to be folded up and fastened with pretty cuff links. Now that my grandgirls are getting older, I'm passing on some of the smaller vintage things and stockpiling for the future. It's such a pleasure finding fine old things for them to dress up in. Old door trim holds vintage photos of family members My bad, It has been months since I last posted but I am back. Thanks for your patience and for prodding me to post updates of my little retreat, my girl cave, my she-she shack. Simplicity is a word familiar to tiny house enthusiasts. Many tiny house residents are pleased to announce that they have become minimalists in their quest to simplify their life. I can not say that I would be excited about being a minimalist. When Slabtown Customs was building my home I saw that as a good reason to go shopping. I helped support the economy as well as small local businesses. Oh, and I helped clean up a few curbs from what others dis guarded as trash. I had fun collecting vintage items to re purpose and up cycle for my new tiny retreat. Giving a vintage item a new life is recycling in it's purest form while preventing it from being tossed in the landfill. I will back track in future posts and show you some of the ways I up cycled my vintage finds. I will show you how I turned trash into treasures for my tiny house. Here is a partial list of my future posts.
