White flooring is often overlooked because it dirties easily, but consider this: It's also chic, guaranteed to match, and brightens up any space.
Kram Linda

How to pull off shabby chic style in your bedroom yourself? It'd be vintage, relaxed and kind of refined yet nonchalant.
Spring here and now is not a bad time to start thinking about taking care of your garden so you will be able to enjoy it during the spring. The Shabby Chic style is one of the most popular talking about setting up a romantic garden. A big advantage of the Shabby chic style is the advantageous opportunity to reuse furniture and other antique items. The result is a on budget garden decoration and rather nostalgic that one could not deny the powerful visual impact.
Hello everyone, It was such a beautiful day here today that I spent most of it outdoors doing some painting projects, filling the window boxes with greenery and even planting a few more bulbs. Tomorrow promises to be another beautiful day with unusually warm temperatures 17 Celsius (63 F). So for my post today I thought you might like to see the different looks our little Gardener's Cottage has had over the past several years. Aqua White is one of my favorites. But I have lots of pretty pinks so it was nice to display them for awhile. Blue and white looks so fresh and clean. I do love the red toiles for Christmas. I love the elegance of taupe/grey though too. The French Country look appeals to me! This was several years ago and I think it was the first year I decorated it for Christmas. The Gardener's Cottage in summer. and in winter it becomes The Christmas Cottage. Hope you enjoyed seeing the different looks of one little cottage. Now,I am taking this weary body of mine up for a hot soak! I am joining A Delightsome Life for A Return to Loveliness. Thank you for your visit. Carolyn
Everything is beautiful, in it's own way... This board is a display of images I find beautiful! These photos do not belong to me, unless otherwise stated. I'm just enjoying their beauty, I hope you do too! Please visit my new Autumn Blog: autumns-glory.tumblr.com
Welcome to Shabbilicious Sunday…. Each week in this series I share with you a visit to a home of one of our shabbilicious friends. What could be better than to take a tour around their home, have a chat and get to know a little more about them. Today we are off to visit the always delightful Kris at Junk Chic Cottage in Chicago, Illinois in the United States. Kris and her husband Terry took possession of their new cottage just 3 months ago and immediately set to work transforming it into a new Junk Chic Cottage. I

I hope you all aren't getting tired of me yet! I finally finished the cornice and think it turned out better than I ever thought it could. First, let me say this: I had the brilliant idea of making fabric roses to add to the curve as trim because I get so impatient. I just couldn't wait to make a run to the hardware store, the next day, to buy sandpaper for my sander. The uneven lines were driving me nuts. So here's what I did. I made over 130 fabric roses and used construction adhesive because I sure wasn't using the hot glue gun and getting burnt like I did last time! After the adhesive dried, I then Mod Podged them all so they would be hard as a rock and protected. Perfect! This was a no cost project for me because I had everything on hand, so that was a WIN WIN for me! I am so happy with how it all turned out. I made some curtains from voile panels adding ruffles to the bottom and then tying back with a large fabric rose and tulle. I love how it frames the two spaces and gives division without cutting back on the area space. Cutting the curves makes it feel like you have more head room even though our ceilings are 8 feet. Sometimes, it takes me awhile to get it right after thinking a bit, but I finally did it! When you have that "yes, this is it" moment, you feel at rest then. From both sides, it looks so pretty! I love waking up to this view. So soft on the eyes.... And I just love how the curtains came out! I worked on the office area too. Remember those boxes being brown and cream? I couldn't take it anymore, so I painted them. Here's the before: Here's the after: Now don't they look better painted? I found a neat little board at Home Goods too that is perfect for hiding those post in notes that my hubby has everywhere. Now he can't blame me for losing them when I clean up. Tee Hee Hee Adding the iron brackets under the desk was one of those late night "ah ha" moments. Like why didn't I ever think of that before now? I also lowered the office sign and moved things around a bit. For being under the stairs, this little office area really functions perfectly for us! It was such a sunny day here today so I wanted to take a photo of the circus bed as we are calling it. Even though we "have" to have the drop ceiling and carpet for our bedroom in the basement, I am quite content and pleased with it all. It is a dream and I am blessed to have what I have! If you are noticing that my watermarks are in the middle of my photos, it is a precaution due to blogs stealing my photos, cropping out my name and pretending like it is theirs. We've worked hard at what we've done to our home and when someone tries to take credit for our hard work, well I could spit nails! Okay, rant over. So what do you think about the cornice? Think those little fabric roses would work on anything of yours? I know I am going around looking for places to put them now, lol. I hope this week is going well for all of you and know that I appreciate each of you for following me. Be blessed and have a great hump day!

I am one lucky girl to have a man who will let me have this girly of a bedroom for us to share. The door in this photo Leads to my Master Bathroom. I love this hutch I got it at Goodwill, it was off white gold and blue before I painted in white. Just a few of my favorite perfumes. I have like 70ish perfumes! This doll sits on the hutch I have had her since I was Little. I let you in on a little secret I did have my TV on top of this hutch. I took it down for most of the pictures though because lets face it TVs are ugly. But I need to be able to watch HGTV in bed he he. My side of the bed. I have matching Night stands, I got at Goodwill for 9.99 each they were originally a very off white and gold with brass handles. I of course painted them white. They are apart of the same set that goes with the hutch but I actually got them at different Goodwill's months apart. I Also have the Large Dresser for the set that is currently in my Guest room as well as another night stand that is a bit different for these night stands but from the same line. I have matching night stands but the miss match lamps to keep it from being over matchy. The mirrors above the night stands are also miss match but very similar. Love this little picture of my babies framed on my nightstand. I got this bench at Habitat for Humanity for 19.99 I did a post a while back on the make over. Post on bench makeover check out the link to see before pictures I found these cute little corner shelf's at Goodwill. I actually found them spread out all separate from each other individually priced, through out the store. Its hard to tell from the picture but they are largest at the bottom smallest at the top This is where Bella likes to sleep all cuddled up in the pillows. This Little lady Figure Hangs by the Entrance Door. Above the princess dog bed that rarely gets slept in, who came blame them when they can sleep in the king size bed with me! I have mentioned these curtains before (they are the same ones as in Bella & Lacie's bedroom) But let me say it again I LOVE THEM Here is the link to where you can buy them My favorite part of my bedroom is my chandelier, I have it on a dimmer which makes it even better. I purchased the chandelier at Home Depot for only 99 dollars! My headboard is actually the foot board from my mothers bed she decided not to use he-he. Eventually I will get something bigger for my huge king size bed but for now I like it. I got the netting I hung above the bed at Ikea on clearance for 2 dollars! Mêlant romantisme et esprit « maison de campagne », la décoration shabby chic séduit par son authenticité. Voici 20 idées pour décorer votre intérieur.
I don't change my sideboard all that often. My hutch is more of a display for special collections, while the kitchen shelves and other cupboards are for regular use. So the hutch gets a revamp only when I want a different look. Usually for a change of season. I've been doing some spring cleaning already. The weather has something to do with it, I'm sure. Scurrying back and forth, sorting and dusting, I feel like a character out of a Beatrix Potter tale. Or Mole at Mole's End with his brooms and dusters. I've also taken a page or two from Edith Holden as my inspiration. In her Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady of 1906-- another year with an odd winter--, she relates how " the mild winter has brought out the Hazel catkins, wonderfully early. . . ." Her wonderful watercolors of nature bring the outside in from the cold. I was surprised to see dead leaves rendered on her January pages, thinking that it's more of a fall thing, but that's exactly what's still outside my own window in piles on the ground. I've been wanting to gather my brown transferware together. Arranging my English cupboard is a bit like doing a puzzle without a picture for a guide. It's all trial and error, fitting bits and pieces here and there. Thinking I need this color here, and that shape there, until it all comes together. And of course there's only so much you can include. I have fresh shelf trim. The eyelet was given to me by my friend Ann Baird. The rest is a jumble of finds, some recent, some older, and all vintage. A few things stayed put, like my famous prize cow butter dish. I guess I'm not tired of looking at it yet. . . . Who would want a life without handles and spouts? . . . One down. . . . so many to go. But spring is still a long way off! Not that I EVER finish cleaning. Thanks so much for stopping by. I recieved many truly wonderful e-mails and comments in recent days, and I'm still catching up. What day is it anyway?? (Just kidding. . . haha. . . . . sorta.) I love my bed! Today I finally put the ruffled bed skirt I ordered months ago, on my bed. It's so perfect. I really don't know why I waited so long. I am sure if your into looking at the decorating blogs you probably have seen this bed skirt before, used as a table cloth too ( I also have another as a table cloth). But you may wonder how mine seems to have so many more ruffles. Well it's because I used two of the bed skirts. Then you may wonder then how I was able to get enough separation to layer the two bed skirts. So I will show you. First I put the bed skirt over the box springs like normally you would do with a bed skirt. I just have bed box springs on the ground not lifted up by any frame, because I do not like little bunny Fufu to go under by bed all the time. Also I have so many memory foam mattress pads on my bed it would be to tall if the box springs were lifted at all. Having the box springs on the floor is what gives the ruffles the hanging on the floor look. In my guest bedroom I have this same bed skirt ( only one though) and the bed is lifted in that room and the bed skirt does not touch the ground, so it really depends on the look you want, I think I like hanging on the floor better but the guestroom bed skirt looks good also. Then I put my mattress on top of the box springs and put the 2nd bed skirt over it instead of a sheet. Now here my bed still looks too short. My secret is all the memory foam mattress pads I put on next. All the memory foam makes the bed so comfy you litterly sink in. My moms says its hard to get back up after you lay in my bed because you sink in so much Lol. But I love it, its so comfy. After I put all the memory foam back on (like 6 or 7 layers of it) I put on the sheet over all the memory foam rather then over the mattress which is being covered by the 2nd bed skirt.. That's how I create the look of so many ruffles. Link to where you can get the bedskirt Then when its all done, and all my layering is complete, you can't tell at all that the bed is just sitting on the ground, because it is plenty high enough. The pink bedding is also new, I found it yesterday at Goodwill it is a part of the line " Simply Shabby Chic " By Rachel Ashwell my favorite designer. My other bedding is also apart of this line and I am still keeping it too. But I am just going to switch back and forth while I'm washing one or the other. Which will be great because my bed is a king, & it's always hard to wash my comforter. It barely fits in the washer, and does not get dry in the dryer, so I hang it out to dry but it takes two or three days to do so. So it will be wonderful to have two bed spreads now. Whats so neat about my new comforter is its reversable! The problem is I can't decide which side I like better, I love both sides. I think I am a tid bit leaning to the first side that I showed in first picture, but then again I don't know because the other side goes almost perfect with the shower curtain in Master bathroom When you are laying in the bed you can see down into the master bathroom, and its looks nice with the comfter and shower curtain almost being matching but not quite exactly the same. My shower curtain is also a part of the same line as the bedding. Picture above being side one picture below being side, two which side of the comforter do you think is better? I just love how long carnations last. This one is one from my blue ball jar full in the kitchen that I showed in a picture I put on my countertop post two weeks ago. I must have bought these flowers like 15 or 16 days ago and they still look great! Oh and isn't this little pink bottle I found at Goodwill the other day just adorable? I had to lock Bella & Lacie out while I was taking the pictures for this post, meanwhile they were scratching at the door. They always want to be in the pictures Lol, so I let them in to take a few pics hehe they are so cute. I love my girls. I guess all that scartching at the door tired them out. I took these photos just now as I am laying here with them in bed, doing this post. Sleepy Lacie. Click To Follow Me Parties I love!! "The places that once knew Marie Antoinette now know her forever." ~Grace Greenwood I have a new purchase that I have been very excited to share! I have wanted this piece for sooooo long and finally after Christmas I bought it! I'm sure you already know that I LOVE the creations of Dana at Lambs and Ivy - her incredible ribbon work flowers are amazing. She listed this necklace awhile ago and I thought that it was stunning. When it arrived and I took it out of it's wrapping I was literally speechless. The detail is just breath taking! It looks perfect on my Free People lace dress and I am so thrilled with it. Thankyou Dana for your gorgeous creations and for your friendship! I put out these two little pink glass cake stands together the other day and filled them with pearls and some ribbon and tulle flowers. I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner! I am sharing with: Make it Pretty Monday

Hello everyone, Hope you had a lovely weekend. We enjoyed Christmas concerts that our grandchildren were in and a sleepover with a couple of little ones this weekend. Today, I decided it was time to decorate our Boathouse for Christmas and this year it is a winter white theme. I still have more to do in here but I will show you my fun for the day! This is one of my favorite places to be ....the reading nook. The stockings are hung. The fireplace castsa cozy glow but alas, no heat. I use an electric header to take out the chill this time of year. Curl up and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa. I still have some fluffing to do and I hope to do the rest of the Boathouse in white before we get to much snow. Our Boathouse last winter. Although we had some snow a couple of weeks it has since melted but a new supply is expected tonight. Hope you enjoyed our little Boathouse in it's winter white attire. Take care, Carolyn
