Model of a British ship made of bone, ivory and wood by French and Spanish prisoners of war held by the British during the Napoleonic Wars. Such models were sold by the prioners to supplement their prison allowance. The Caledonia was a 120-gun first-rate ship of the Royal Navy in 1808 and became the flagship of the Mediterranean fleet under command of Admiral Pellew.
