As much as the next person, I find abandoned buildings to be sad in that they represent the loss of a dream. But I am also fascinated with them, I think because of the possibility that someone could rebuild and breathe new life into them. So I try to see it that way, and then…

Peterhof (Russian: Петерго́ф, Petergof, originally named Peterhof, the Dutch for "Peter's Court") is a municipal town within Petrodvortsovy District of the federal city of Saint Petersburg on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland (population 64,791 (2002 census)). It hosts one of two campuses of Saint Petersburg State University. A series of palaces and gardens, laid out on the orders of Peter the Great, and sometimes called the "Russian Versailles", is also situated there. The palace-ensemble along with the city center is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petergof).

This Art Deco home on Sydney’s lower north shore had seen better days, but thanks to a masterful restoration by interior designer Brooke Aitken it is now this family's forever home. Take a look inside.
Happy Sunday, dear friends. Remember I told you in my last post that I have a snazzy new hairdo? Well, it looked pretty cute until I washed it and took a blow dryer to it. I gave my hairdresser this picture as inspiration. It now looks like a mad woman took scissors to my hair while I was sleeping. I've used 2 curling irons, 3 straighteners, and buckets of hair gel on it, and it looks something like this. Just not as good. I'm thinking of adding this fashion accessory to my wardrobe. ***** Enough about me. It was the Mister's turn to choose the movie this weekend. Guess what he picked. Yup. To sum this flick up, it is two very long hours of shooting, stabbing, running, sweating and blowing up half of London. I told the Mister that he would have to sit through three showings of My Big Fat Greek Wedding II to make up for this one. By the way, if you're interested in the Mister's critique, he summed it up in two words: Oscar worthy. ***** In honor of one of my favorite holidays this month, St. Patrick's Day, I have let my fingers do the walking through Pinterest in search of rooms with the perfect touch of green. Taken from Schloss Hohenschwangen. (The older but 'real' castle) Had to use a long lens, handheld, with no VR. So quite pleased with the detail. This has been 'Pinned' and 'repinned' at least 2000 times on Pinterest. www.uplandswolf.co.uk
Would you like to come on a little pink holiday with me? I love to travel. I thought I would visit some beautiful pink Victorian homes on the eastern seaboard. Our first stop is Lake City, Florida. The Henderson House was built in 1891 and it has Queen Anne architecture. I love this pale pink colour and the porches are perfect for a cup of tea. Our next stop is Savannah, Georgia and this gingerbread house was built in 1891. It has Queen Anne architecture. The porches on the front of this house are very secluded. We are off to Kennebunk, Maine and the "Little House". It was built in 1875 and the architecture is Second Empire. The Carriage House is tucked to the right of the main house under the trees. We are going to Portsmouth, New Hampshire now to visit the Webster House that was built in 1880. It has Italeante architecture. We would probably have a fantastic view from the top of this tower. This house is called Roseland. It sits in Woodstock, Connecticut. It was built in 1846 and it is Gothic Revival architecture. This would be a great house to decorate for Halloween. This lovely pink house sits on Perry Street in Cape May, New Jersey. It looks as if it just got a fresh coat of paint. We finish our trip in Wellsview, New York. This spectacular Victorian has beautiful flower gardens. I see my spot on the round front porch to the left of the doorway. I think that we can smell the flowers from there. Thank you for coming with me on this wonderful trip and we didn't even have to leave our favourite chair. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Love Always Kim
