Common Name: Bucephalandra Catherinae Green Bucephalandra Catherinae Green is a rarer Bucephalandra variant that is beginning to be propogated in nurseries. It's a short, low-growing Bucephalandra that features narrow, wavy leaves and short stalks. It has a deep, emerald green coloration once adapted to growing underwater. This variant grows short and dense and is a great choice for foreground and midground planting. Bucephalandra is very slow-growing, with new leaves sprouting from long, thin rhizomes. It can be propagated by separating the rhizome gently and attaching it to driftwood and rocks using super glue gel or thread. It thrives under low to moderate lighting and adapts well to various water parameters. Bucephalandra can be grown submerged or emersed. Like Anubias, Buce plants have rhizomes that attach and grow on solid surfaces. While it attaches exceptionally well to rocks, it can also flourish on driftwood and other substrates. When placed in the substrate, ensure only a portion of the Buce plant is under the substrate while keeping the rhizome exposed, as burying it can lead to rot. Key Features & Important Notes Bucephalandra is an epiphytic aquarium plant so it can be attached to aquarium hardscape. Do not plant Bucephalandra in substrate and cover the rhizome. This will cause it to melt and rot. Bucephalandra’s final size, coloration and growth rate are dependent upon the condition of the aquarium Photos are a representation of what you will receive and may vary. Do not make drastic changes to the aquarium. Unstable parameters will result in melt and rotting of the aquarium plant. CO2 injection will yield better growth. AKA Asian Watermoss A very attractive floating fern species Provides shelter for juvenile fish You will receive a portion with each plant consists between 2-10 pairs of leaves. Offer contains two plants from Salvinia cucullata tropical/subtropical floating water fern. It is shipped in plastic bag. Ideal choice in fish aquariums or garden ponds year around. Please put it into water after receive as soon as possible. The "Asian watermoss" is a particularly attractive floating fern species from tropical Asia where it occurs in sunny, still waters. Salvinia cucullata is hardly available in trade and also not very well known among aquarium hobbyists. Optimal growth conditions provided - plenty of light, rather high temperatures and nutrient-rich water - this Salvinia develops an interesting look with hood-like, rolled up leaves. It is scientifically named after that structure (from latin cucullus, cone or hood). With its side branches, the plant develops a dense floating mat with a comb-like look. However it also thrives under suboptimal conditions, with about one centimeter long, flat leaves, resembling Salvinia minima. The upper side of the leaves is densely set with hairs, giving the plant a velvety look. It has a pale, somewhat blueish green tone. Salvinia cucullata should be grown with good lighting and temperatures above 20 °C. Nutrient deficiency is indicated by paler, smaller new leaves. The more light it gets, the more it develops its typical hood-like leaf structure. After our experience it does not grow as fast as Salvinia minima and S. auriculata. This unusual floating plant looks especially well in open aquariums and in the water part of well lit paludariums and ripariums. As well as other floaters, it provides a natural shelter for juvenile fish and other aquarium animals. Due to its origin it is also an appropriate choice for "geographical" aquariums with warmth-loving fishes from Asia. Family Name: Salviniaceae Origin: Cosmopolitan Height: 2-3" pH: 6.5-7.5 Care: Easy Light: Low to High Co2: Not necessary Propagation: Side shoots Growth rate: Fast Plants will pack in plastic, sealed bag inside an envelope, posted 2nd class Royal Mail.
