These vases are hand built from slab. While flat, a real hosta leaf is rolled into the slab leaving an impression. The leaf is cut out and formed into a cylinder to make the vase. A bottom is added. Once the vessel is sealed, the upper edge is manipulated to give the leaf a naturalistic appearance. The piece is dried slowly, bisque fired, glazed, and glaze fired.
