Since my first SmashBook Challenge has been so well received, I think it's time to do a part 2. It's been over a year and I need to start a new Smash Book.
SMASH Sundays so far this year have been all about my One Little Word SMASH book. I love working in that one, but if I want that to be a year-long project, I need to pace myself a little better ;). So what is a SMASH addict to do? Start a new one :). This is the Vintage style folio. I LOVE the designs in this book - right up my alley. I like my SMASH books to have a theme, so this book is inspired by these: A Flair for Buttons is where you can find these beauties :). They are called SMASH words flair, and I am basing this entire SMASH book around them. I have the book sectioned off so that every few pages is a response to the flair prompt. I've got the first pages almost done, so I'll share those next. But for now, just my title page is complete. I love this Basic Grey journaling card that reads "my thoughts exactly." This SMASH book is definitely going to be more writing and even more personal than my others. I'm excited to see how it comes together. Thanks for stopping by for another installment of SMASH Sunday! Have a great day :). Tessa
Have I had you waiting patiently for a preview of the upcoming Simple Stories release? Here it is!! I'm so excited about this one! I LOVE the new concept of smashbooks, but I have always thought it was a bit overwhelming finding a place to start. I mean, there is no need for a theme as ANY theme will work, right? That's what a smashbook is...a journal, a year in review, random thoughts and photos, whatever you want it to be. The thought is to just stick anything and everything on a page, right? I guess I'm just too neat and tidy and the thought still overwhelmed me. So....I put some thought into it and this is what I came up with. This is a smash book Paisleys and Polka Dots style. If you are overwhelmed like me, then this one is for you. This kit starts with the Simple Stories Snap binder which includes chipboard tabbed pages, journaling pages, and sheet protector/pocket pages. This means you already have a full album to work with! I have designed the front cover and the three inside chipboard tabbed pages, both the front and back sides, plus two custom shaped "word blub" pages. Yep! You have a full eleven pages, pre designed, pre cut and ready to assemble. The kit includes full color instructions so you can easily assemble your pages. Next, use your own creativity to complete the book by finishing the journaling pages and the pocket pages. The kit includes extra sheets of paper, stickers, and embellishments to help you in completing your album. The album even includes some fun pocket pages. Here is a look at the custom word blurb pages... And here is a look at one of the tabbed pages... Tabbed page opened up... And last but not least, here is a look at the two page layout that is sold separately. I actually went on a scrappin weekend last weekend and yes, I worked on my smash book. I'm creating a book for my daughter titled, "the many adventures of a couple in love." I'm almost finished so stop back by to see what I created...more pictures coming! It's turning out so cute I may not want to give it to her. Julie

Hello! I started a new portfolio. I bought another pink Pretty Style portfolio and have made it my quotes book. I collect favorite quotes in notebooks, art prints for my home, and on my Words board on Pinterest. I decided it was time to house them in a SMASH book, too. So, last night after Addie went to bed, I made a few pages: First up, this colorful page. I just reorganized my SMASH book cart (the raskog IKEA cart), and I realized just how many die-cuts I have. I decided to use up some by creating a grid of die cuts at the top of this page. The die-cuts are by Basic Grey and DCWV. DCWV needs to put out a package of just typewriter die-cuts. I think I'm all out now :(. Some of my favorite parts of this page are 1) the paint chip, 2) the polka dot bag, 3) the orangey-red woodgrain washi tape with hearts (Freckled Fawn). My next page is this mosaic quote page made with Love My Tapes washi, fabric and lace tapes (plus a couple of other washi tapes I had in my stash): You can read more about this page on the Love My Tapes blog today. The third page I made is one of the bird pages in the book. I instantly thought of one of my favorite quotes about flying, which led to a quote about challenges and the sticker quote about dreams. I left spaces for more quotes to be added later, as I find the right ones. The birds on a wire are cut from a piece of a Hambly transparency. I am hoarding the last bit of that sheet, as well as some others. I'm so sad they aren't in business anymore. I saved the gold floral die-cut from a project I did several weeks ago. I punched birds from the same gold foil paper (Chickaniddy Crafts) and placed them in the glassine bag. On the opposite page, I used the negative from punches. You can see more photos of these pages in my flickr photostream. Thanks for visiting for SMASH Sunday! Tessa
Have you ever found yourself questioning why you do what you do? I adore the whole concept of the movie "Sliding Doors". Totally love it, and often find myself pondering what alternate choices would have meant in my life. Recently...
We often for get that crafting should be fun. We get caught up in finishing projects, albums and the things that people want us to make. But sometimes we need to step back and go back to the fun side. I LOVE today’s project because I had so much fun doing it. I used to […]

Long before his days as the totalitarian leader of Panem, the orphaned Coriolanus was a (mostly) well-meaning schoolboy simply trying to help his family maintain their good name and social standing despite ever-dwindling means. “He’s an emotional character,” says director Francis Lawrence. “He has a very warm connection with his cousin Tigris and his grandmother, but he’s also sort of putting on a facade for his classmates.” When Coriolanus is selected as a mentor for the 10th annual Hunger
