I've felt rather uninspired to comment on fashion recently. This past week has been rushed, as will be my next one. My mind hasn't been and isn't settled enough to form actual opinions, and without a fashion week, event, or opinion to write, I've decided to put my mind to something creative. I'd been wanting to do a photo/creative writing/something creative post for a while, so here's the first one. Today, I took to my scissors and old magazines and cut and glued and styled until a college of sorts started to appear out of the clutter of sticky, shredded paper. The finished project was a Céline-clad Daria Werbowy mosaically outlined in gray shapes. With this newfound inspiration, I attacked Pinterest and Tumblr in search for images that communicate the minimalistic simplicity and understated beauty that Céline stands for: the Phoebe Philo - Céline mindset. This is not Céline; it is Christophe Lemaire, a designer that shares a similar point of view.

Hello Everyone, It is hard to believe that another week is almost over and it is time for Show and Tell Friday at My Romantic Home again. So today I am showing our blue and white guest room -sorry I know some of you have seen it before but hopefully some of you have not. A mirror image. Since I love to display my china even the bedroom has a few touches. I love this angel that came from Home Goods a few years ago. I think this also came from Home Goods. I was wishing that I had a bouquet of white tulips in the pitcher but alas I didn't have any. I wish I knew how to photograph better by a window- anyone have any tips? How about some breakfast in bed? Well, you may have noticed that I love toile so since our children have all grown up, I have indulged myself! We have been enjoying lots of sunshine lately although the temperature has been below seasonal-guess we can't have everything so I'll take the sunshine. Don't forget to pop into My Romantic Home for lots of other participants. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Carolyn

The Miao living in remote mountain regions developed a wide range of individual garments as a form of local cultural identity. The basic Miao female dress consists of a jacket and skirt. Traditionally, no garments were worn under the jacket, which is usually fastened with a pair of simple narrow ties at the waist. There are no buttons. The majority of Miao women wear a very full pleated skirt of varying lengths, depending on the area, which swings sensuously as they walk. The pleated skirt is wrapped around the waist, but in some cases the skirt is tubular. Some Miao, especially in the south, wear a back and front skirt. Usually the back skirt/apron is full, and a rectangular apron covers the overlap. In the south of Guizhou the front apron has a bib, which acts as a breast covering and is worn inside the jacket. Gaiters or puttees protect the legs.

Description Love the fragrance of hyacinth but looking for something a little more subtle? Try these! The Muscari armeniacum or Grape Hyacinth is a vibrant purple/blue flower, resembling small tightly-packed grape clusters intermixed with Muscari Alba (white clusters) and Muscari Latifolium (bi-color clusters). Blooming in mid-spring, the Muscari Collection works great for borders, mass plantings, and under trees, and won't be eaten by four-legged visitors! I took this picture on Friday evening as we laughed and laughed at a man sitting on his porch in plain view of our shenanigans. Turns out that wasn't half as funny as what happened afterwards. My model left and I decided to do some self portraits with the remaining sun. I called my husband to pick me up when we realized that I had the car keys and I was about 4 miles away from home. I had my camera equipment + a very large and heavy trash bag filled with props. I set out to find a bus stop, though the roads proved to be barely walkable with mountains and rocks all around. A cab wouldn't pick me up because I didn't have an exact address for them. After walking for about 2 hours I found a bus stop, only to find out that the buses didn't go to my area. It was then that my husband called to say that he had started to walk toward me, a gesture that melts my heart, with warm clothes for me. So we met each other halfway, found a shopping cart, put me in the shopping cart, and he wheeled me the rest of the way home. It was the perfect Friday night :) facebook | formspring | website | blog | twitter

England enjoyed imported indigo dye from India in the 17th century. It wasn’t until the mid 18th century, however, that two important innovations made delicate designs like this Bromley Hall textile possible. Indigo dye is unique in that it is not water-soluble, so it must be chemically reduced to properly saturate fibers. The dye must be
