About The Artwork My homeland, Hungary, is a lowland country in a temperate climate zone, so it does not freeze too much in the winter and snow falls only occasionally, and only a little. So there are not many opportunities to actively engage in winter sports. About The Artwork This piece was my first solid paneled sculpture built in conjunction with The Metal Works R&D team. I initially made a small maquette which I carefully measured and converted to 2D panels. These panels were then laser cut out of corten steel and assembled. The piece required several repeat weld passes and grinding of the welds to leave an almost seamless surface. The ambiguous title of this and all other pieces invites the observer to see what they want from the piece and I always love hearing how people interpret the design. Having a passion for architecture I had always wanted to work with weathering steel and this piece gave me the perfect opportunity.
