This adorable gift box is made of stained glass from every side to the ribbon to the bow on top. It has a simple but fully functional hinge to connect the lid to the base. Original and unique artwork for any space. The process of creating stained glass art starts with an original design, glass selection, and then cutting and shaping each individual piece by hand. After the pieces are properly shaped and cleaned, the edges are then wrapped in copper foil which is what the solder adheres to. Next, each piece is soldered with 60/40 solder (tin/lead) with the exception of items such as earring which are made using lead free solder so they are safe to wear daily. Once the artwork is soldered and washed it is then polished. Most of my glass designs get a coat of black patina, which darkens the solder lines, giving the design more definition and it’s final finished look. Add on the chain or string, and it is finished and ready to be packaged and shipped to it’s new home. Love the design but prefer a different color? Handmade stained glass box, 198mm x 75mm x 63mm high, accurately made using various types of glass with a mirror base, Copper Foil, Solder, Flux, Brass Tube for the Hinge, Chain and lots of Polish, I have a background in manufacturing for many years where accuracy was vital and I have made all my items with the same principles of accuracy, everything has to be square, the lid must be a perfect fit to the base, and well finished.

Once wrapped, the glass pieces are soldered together, small brass hinges are soldered to the lid and base of the jewelry box and a safety chain is added inside the box. Patina (a chemical) changes the silver color of soldered seams and black patina was applied to the soldered seams of this jewelry box.
