The whole time I was coloring this parrot all I could think of was Sharpie the Gilette parrot asking, "How're ya fixed for blades?" Yes I am that old! He was a sassy cartoon bird who advertised razor blades during the Friday night fights long ago. I wasn't allowed to stay up and watch those fights but I could watch the opening commercial with Sharpie and then head up to bed. Strange the things you remember.......I can't remember where I set my glasses down twenty minutes ago but I can remember those commercials from 60 years ago.....scary...... Welcome back...it's that time of the month again! Amy has another blog hop theme for us..."birthday". Without further ado, here's my card. My card is a "double Z fold" and you'll see what that means in a minute, if you aren't familiar with it. In an effort to not confuse anyone, including me, I will put the measurements and products used at the end of my post. I will tell you that my card base is Berry Burst, the mats are from the Fresh Floral DSP and my fave Lemon Lime Twist, topped with the the art pieces in Whisper White. The stamp set I used is Bird Banter. This is a fantastic set if you enjoy birds of any kind...especially parakeets (budgies), cockatoos and toucans. I stamped everything using Memento Tuxedo Black ink for ease in coloring. I colored my birds with watercolor pencils, ink pads and a Blender Pen. The branch is done in Crumb Cake. Okay, so the moment you've been waiting for...ta da... the "Double Z Fold". You see it, right? It folds up nicely into an A2 envelope. You can find tutorials galore on You Tube for this type of fold. Want to see it stretched out? Okay, here you go... The portion that reads, "Obviously it wasn't an early bird" has a piece of Basic 2 washi tape on it and hearts from the Owl Builder Punch, which is retired. There are plenty of current hearts dies or enamel shapes you could use but I just wanted the shape of those particular hearts. The last portion has punched balloons and, unfortunately, that punch is retired. Can you see why it's so difficult for me to clean out my retired products? I know I should, but I just can't...won't...it's close to I "need" new or "want" new! If you are a stamper, you understand...don't pretend you don't...lol. Now, if you're familiar with blog hops, you know there's more in store for you...hope you can take time to visit the remaining blog hop participants. For your ease in hopping along, there is a button to see the next in line or the previous stamper. If you prefer, you can click on the listed name and you'll achieve the same results. Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to visit. Hope you'll return daily and not just wait a month...I would miss you! Linda Richenberg Karen Finkle - you are here! Welcome to another week of What Will You Stamp? To participate in this week's challenge and to see all the great projects from the Design team using this set be sure to visit the What Will You Stamp? Challenge Blog. This week we were challenged to use the Bird Banter Stamp set. I have created a birthday card with the large parrot. What I love most about this set is that all the images are outlines, which makes it perfect for colouring! I cut up the sentiment and arranged the words around the parrot as it was too big to place at his feet as a solid piece. The background DSP is from the Tutti-Frutti suite, the 'reverse' sides are great for Layering backgrounds. If you like the colour combination, please share it on your favourite Pinterest board! Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed seeing my project please take a few moments to leave me a comment I'd love to hear what you think. With Valentine's Day fast approaching I better start sharing the cards I've make so far. I definitely need a few for my family. The Bird Banter set caught my eye right away with the cute images and funny sentiments. And they are even more cute when they are colored with the new Stampin' Blends! I needed some new birthday sets to freshen up my birthday cards for 2018. But Bird Banter really works for other genres of cards too! I used some of the bird stamps to create a black and white background. The toucan is colored with Blends and I made the little heart hang out of his beak by drawing a black line with my marker. The Myths & Magic Glimmer paper is a nice little layer to make my bird pop a bit. The Sale-a-Bration (SAB) Shimmer ribbon pack reward is also perfect with the narrow Bermuda Bay choice. The little black and white banner is embossed using the Thoughtful Banners stamp set. Thanks for looking! Did you stamp today? Stamps: Bird Banter, Thoughtful Banners Ink: Memento Black, Versamark Stampin' Blends: Bermuda Bay, Smoky Slate, Pumkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Real Red Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Myths & Magic Glimmer paper Accessories: Circle dies, dimensionals, SAB Shimmer Ribbon

I playing with some different for my products today, Bird Banter stamp set from Stampin' Up! is a set I received at November 2017 OnStage and is not a set I would by for myself, but these adorable Budgies lend themselves perfectly to the Stampin' Dreams Love Blog Hop. I added the sentiment from the Petal Palette stamp set which suited these images perfectly. I stamped all the images in Momento ink and coloured them with Stampin' Blends in Olive Olive, Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy, Smokey Slate, Pink Pirouette, Rich Razzleberry and Cherry Cobbler. I filled some of the background with the Light Pool Party Blends and blended it out further with the Colour Lifter to create to faded out look. I added two chipboard outline hearts from the Hearts and Stars Elements to add some texture to the card and as a sparkly touch of Wink Of Stella to all the hearts. I added 2 layers of paper from the Tutti-frutti Paper Stack. Hello peaches! I’m here today to talk to you a little about my creative process. How many of you cardmakers and scrapbookers struggle sometimes with layouts or even where to begin? I have definitely had those days where I want so bad to create something amazing, but I just feel frustrated because either my ideas won’t transfer onto paper (so to speak) or I just feel blocked, creatively speaking. Often times I’ve just been staring at my project for too long and feel I can no longer be objective. Whatever the creative block you may experience, there are a few strategies that is like to share. When I get into this type of crafting funk I will try to solve it a few ways. The first (and quite honestly my least favorite) is to just walk away and come back later. This is my least favorite because I feel like I have been defeated and am kind of giving up. Yet in reality I just need to cleanse my “creative palette”. You know how when you eat many different flavored foods, they recommend that you cleanser your palette. Otherwise, it becomes hard to really enjoy each true flavor. It can be the same for your other sense-sight. You need to stop, walk away, and look at other things before you return to your project and try again. I have found this to be very helpful though I am often reluctant to admit defeat, lol. The second strategy, and my personal favorite, is to pull out the stamp set that you’d like to work with, stamp a few images, and ink or color them. In my project today I am using the super cute Bird Banter Stamp Set. And can I just say how in love with this set I am?!?! It is so darn cute and the sentiments are great. Anyway, let’s get back to the strategy. So the next step for me is to pull out some colors of ink and papers that I think look good and coordinate well together. I will often choose a soft color and a deeper, more bold color. This time I chose my absolute favorite color combo, Bermuda Bay and Lemon Lime Twist. Once my colors are chosen, I look to see if there is any coordinating Designer Series Paper (DSP) that will coordinate with my color combo (this also works in reverse. You can choose some DSP that inspires you and choose colors to match.). If I see some I like, I will place it with my chosen ink colors and cardstock. If not, I move on to my die cut shapes. I begin cutting out different combinations of coordinating colored cardstock. For my card today I chose to cut out a few squares Out of Bermuda Bay Cardstock and Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock using the Layering Squares Framelits Dies. I also cut out a strip of patterned paper from one of the card bases found in the Tutti-frutti Cards & Envelopes. After I’ve picked a few different shapes to layer, I begin arranging and tweaking the configuration of my layout until I’m happy. The reason that I find that this process works is because just by seeing all those beautifully inspiring colors and patterns together, I feel inspired. By just putting these elements all in one place, you can get an idea of where you want to go with your project and what you may need/want to adjust. You'll notice that in the example above, I was toying with the idea of using the embossed background created by repeatedly using the Petal Pair Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. However in the end, it seemed to overwhelm the rest of the card so I went with a simple white background. This happens quite often in my crafting. I love that I have so many choices. The final step for me is the embellishments. I will often add a few floral sprigs here and sequins or bling there. I never miss an opportunity to embellish, lol. For my example today, I die cut a few floral images from the Petals & More Thinlits Dies out of Vellum Cardstock and inked them up in a blend of Bermuda Bay Ink and Lemon Lime Twist Ink. I also wanted to add some twine but couldn’t devote on a perfect color for my project so I took the Whisper White Baker’s Twine and my Sponge Dauber ink pads and began to sponge on alternating sections of Bermuda Bay and Lemon Lime Twist. I think the result is quite fun and unique. I added a few sequins from the Iridescent Sequin Assortment and that finished off my card. Thanks so much for stopping by and I’ll see you next post!
