Soviet P36 Class 4-8-4
Initially planned to haul air-conditioned trains being designed, this did not occur, but they hauled The Midlander (Emerald to Bogantungan) for some years, and Rockhampton Mail and Sunshine Express in the early 1950s. Withdrawn from Brisbane to Toowoomba due to tight tunnel clearances, they worked Brisbane to Rockhampton. By 1956 this was Bundaberg to St Lawrence. They ran Rockhampton to Emerald, and from 1957 to Bogantungan. Their later years were on Moura coal trains via Mount Morgan.
