We're getting close to wrapping up the April edition of Every Room In The House. This month we've been partying in The Bathroom, and I thought before the party ends it would be fun to show you bathrooms in real Wales' cottages. 1. Nibley Barn Nibley Barn - Wales So much of this bathroom speaks to a traditional cottage: the deep well windows, exposed structural beams, and wide plank floors. Even the antique chair between the commode and the pedestal sink, and the hanging mirror over the sink transport us to earlier times. 2. Kiln Cottage Kiln Cottage - Wales White beadboard in front of the tub and sink maintain a classic cottage feel. I like the use of a shaving mirror here where the slanted wall would make installation of a mirror above the sink problematic. 3. Erwarton Cottage Erwarton Cottage - Wales Beadboard cabinetry painted green and simple white wall tiles create vintage cottage appeal. More green beadboard covers the tub surround. The tub itself looks antique. If it isn't, it's a good reproduction. 4. Nanternis Cottage Nanternis Cottage - Wales Green painted diagonal planks marry a white stone wall. The top mounted farm sink is a nice touch. Again, painted beadboard fronts the enclosed tub/shower. Green subway tiles keep the color flowing. 5. Schoolmaster's Cottage Schoolmaster's Cottage - Wales A fireplace and floral patterned tiles make this a very romantic bathroom. 6. Little Llanvolda Little Llanvolda - Wales Painted plank floors and half walls give a hint of color to this neutral bathroom. Love the beautiful claw foot tub. A skylight brings light into the space. Once more a shaving mirror is used. (I think these mirrors are growing on me.) 7. Beaufort Cottage Beaufort Cottage - Wales Rustic beams and brick tiles add contrast to the white in this cottage bathroom. A free-standing pedestal tub rests in front of the window. Surprise! A purple wall. I love the double sinks on the table base and the slate floor. With its seamless glass walls, the shower is hardly noticeable. 8. The Two Acres Cottage The Two Acres - Wales Exposed wood ceiling beams and a wide plank floor reveal the age of this cottage. I like the way the top of the planked door is cut to fit the slant of the ceiling. To me this just adds charm. . A quaint window and green beadboard around the tub multiply the charm in this bathroom. 9. The Nook The Nook Cottage - Wales The Nook's bathroom successfully mixes traditional with modern. The large bathroom boasts a rough-hewn stone sink and a split-face limestone wall. Here's a closer look at the tub's unique faucet. 10. St. Margaret's Cottage St Margaret's Cottage - Wales Lots of white here. The curtain and fabric hamper soften the room. Plank half walls and coved ceilings create an inviting retreat. So tell me, did you find a favorite amongst these cottage bathrooms? A special thanks to Blaentrothy Cottages for allowing me the privilege of sharing these lovely cottages. Lately I have been obsessed with cute, tiny cottages in the forest. I would love to have a place to escape daily living and just relax and read a good book. However, I am kind of a snob so the rustic cabin with no bathroom is just not for me. I want to go to a place that is just as beautiful as the setting it's in. Or better yet, I want to OWN a place like this so I can just go anytime I feel like it! Here are some places that I have been dreaming of: I love this space that is built with re-purposed materials Aww, those shingles! Adorable Or maybe a fairytale cottage. Love that bright yellow door. It must have a picket fence around it. Or maybe something really modern. Just enough space for two! This is a really cool take on a log cabin. And the setting is beautiful! Or maybe a tree house feel? This just looks so mysterious. I would love to spend the weekend camped out in this place. Of course, stone cottages are also drool worthy! I love the european feel of a stone salt box cottage. Now this is just too cute for words. It looks like a tiny playhouse for grown-ups! Ok, so they're are a lot of options for the outside of my tiny cottage. Now let's take a look at some interiors: It is probably going to be tiny so we will need to do some creative space planning like this little cottage. I love the ladder with the sleeping loft. Another great example of maximizing space. But, I do want it to have the country cottage feel. I love this bunk room and the blue quilts. I love all the rustic beams in this little cottage, not to mention the adorable mint green kitchen cabinets. Now who could forget the cutest little cottage of all: Iris' stone cottage from the movie "The Holiday" When I saw this movie, all I could pay attention to was this adorable cottage. I LOVE the tiny bathroom with the stone wall. However, not too practical for us tall folks. The cottage must have a reading nook like this for all the books I am going to be reading since there won't be any TV. The fireplace in the kitchen makes the space sooooo cozy! Maybe someday I will have a special little place like this of my own, but for now, I will just keep dreaming. ~Jessica
