Happy November, teacher friends! I love this season so much in the classroom! You can really feel that the breaks are so close and Christmas is in the air! Sometimes, along with that comes the need for more redirection because students can sense it, too. That's when I pull out a classroom behavior management game to get us back on track. The goal of these games is to take students from being extrinsically motivated to intrinsically motivated. I want them to make the right choice because it's the right thing to do and not just for a prize. How you, as the teacher, approach that makes all the difference and sets the tone. They need a good amount of positive feedback when playing these games for them to be successful, such as, "I noticed how quickly and quietly you transitioned from the carpet to your seat." You can then ask a student to add a game piece to the board. If you have strong routines and a classroom management system in place, I promise that you will see a noticeable difference in the way your classroom runs with my Classroom Management Games. I wanted to make the prizes simple and free, so I always post this list as a reminder for me. I will pick maybe three and have students vote on what they want to work towards. This gives them a goal to strive for. We also go over expectations for the game and the specific ways they can earn a game piece. Each game will focus on a specific behavior. Once we get that behavior or routine down, we move onto a different game. Transitions are something I am always working on, so I made this one, Transitions are as Easy as Pie. When students exhibit a quick, quiet, and smooth transition, they get to add a piece of pie to the game board. Once the pie is built, they earn the reward. Some groups tattle more than others, so it's up to you on whether or not you use this game. The group from this year tattled fairly frequently, so I would have definitely used this game! Students can earn a piece by effectively solving problems amongst themselves. I earn a piece for tic tac toe if someone tattles. Be sure to go over what is a tattle and what needs to be brought to the teacher. Good manners is so important to me. I want my students to display good manners throughout the building and to be models for others. When they get a compliment for having good manners, such as in the cafeteria, they earn a dish for the Thanksgiving table. This game really gets them thinking about how they act inside and outside of the classroom. Your definition of goodness might be different than mine, but for me, I am looking for students showing acts of kindness to other students and to adults at school. When they are caught showing goodness or kindness, they get to add a piece to the BUMP board. If they are exhibiting a less desirable behavior, I get to add a piece. You can bump each other's piece off the board; I don't bump them but they do bump me quite frequently. The goal is to get four in a row. I also let students tell me if someone is kind to them for a piece for the class. The turkey challenge is just a classic game of students vs. teacher. Choose the focus you need for your class, such as raising their hand or being engaged. Students are the turkeys and are trying to earn pieces for their side. If they are not exhibiting the desired behavior, the teacher earns a piece. Whoever has the most at the end of the lesson or day wins. I print each of these games on cardstock and laminate them. I use round Velcro dots from Amazon to attach the pieces to the game board. I display the game at the front of the room, so that students can have that visual of what they are working on and for. You can even ask your students what they think the class needs to work on to give them more ownership over the game. You can find the link to the games HERE or by clicking on any of the photos. An update to the December games is on the way, so be on the lookout for that! Thanks for stopping by!

My newest classroom decor in the modern decor line is Modern Pop of Color! I came up with the idea when I was wanting to create decor that would match my anchor chart and poster resources, as well as a set that would go with anything that you already had. That's the great thing about rainbow...you can incorporate just about any color. I was walking one day, trying to think of a good name for this set, and was listening to my favorite pop playlist. The idea of Modern Pop of Color came to me, so I knew I had to incorporate some of my favorite pop songs into the decor somehow. It's just a really fun set that I think you AND your students will love. I tried to keep it simple and modern, but also student friendly. I have lots of photos below just so you can get an idea of how to set it up in your own classroom, but feel free to put your own touch on it! Let's take a look! This post may contain affiliate links at no extra cost to you. Like I said earlier, you can make this set match just about anything you already have. Since there are a lot of colors, I would go simple on the backgrounds and borders. I like to be cohesive around the whole classroom. Only use one background on all of your bulletin boards if you want to do that. I think a solid black, white, or brown would look really great with this set. This painted dots background is also a fun option that goes really well. Again, be consistent and simple with your borders. What color are you really wanting to bring out? Maybe you want lots of pinks, so choose a plain pink border to use all around your room. To add more dimension, do an additional black or white boarder around the outside of your boards. The best part of the whole classroom decor set is these motivational posters! I tried to choose pop songs that everyone knows, especially lots of Harry Styles and Taylor Swift! Wouldn't it be fun to have these playing on the first day when your students come in?! Just make sure it's the clean version...lol. I know there are lots of Swifties around here, so if you are really wanting to bring her out in your decor, I would print these as posters. I give directions on how you can do that in the pack, or you can have them enlarged at an office store or on your school's poster maker if they have one. When you go to decorate your boards, I would use more of the pink and purple pennants and borders to tie it all in. The different color letters on these posters will also help tie in all of the rainbow colors from the rest of the set. I designed the posters so that you could create a gallery wall with them. Another option would be to print them as large posters and then use border around them to give them a framed look. This would be great for those large empty spaces on your classroom walls. I always begin my classroom decor sets with the alphabet first. I have always used this as the focal point of my classroom. I am in love with this set and the colors! I changed them about twenty times trying to get the most calming, modern rainbow combination. I have included different options, including a set with handwriting lines and a cursive set. There are also large letters in the pack that I plan to show more about on my Instagram showcasing a fun wall idea you could make in your classroom. Using pennants is one of my favorite, cheap hacks to decorate a classroom. They are always so fun and whimsical, and they can help tie everything in your classroom together. I put them in all kinds of places, from my easel to lining the bottom of shelves. Notice how the border above matches the bulletin board paper..keep it cohesive. You get editable versions of most of the components in the pack. I know we all organize these drawers differently, so you can either use mine or create your own. There are editable binder covers with each of the colors from the rainbow that you can design to fit your needs. Let's talk labels! I label EVERYTHING! This helps me and my students stay organized all throughout the year. Everything has a place. I always get my ribbon and twine at Hobby Lobby when it's half off. They have the best options and prices. I wouldn't choose more than two kinds. I also like to use really thick ribbon on the larger storage to make it pop. There are two different supply label options...round rainbow and square/rectangular white. The ones students will use all have clip art on them for the little ones. I did the white option in case it bothered you if the labels weren't in rainbow order. I know that I am crazy like that, so I figured there were more like me out there...lol. The white also helps break up all the color a little bit. There are editable versions included of all of the labels in the set. There are large round table signs, as well as rectangular ones for table caddies included. You could hang the round ones or attach them to large baskets on the tables. I like to put picture books inside at the beginning of the year for early finishers. I included a few of these letter sets to put around your room that say READ, MAGIC, LEARN, and BE KIND. The classroom library labels are all themed. There are also blank ones for those themes you might have that I didn't include. There are rainbow student numbers that you can attach to their book bins. The calendar and number of the day set includes everything you need for that part of your day. I have always used hand signals in my classroom, and it just helps so much. There is so much more in the classroom decor set that you don't see here, so please download the preview to see more on the TPT listing. If you decide to decorate your classroom with Modern Pop of Color, I would LOVE to see it! Just send me pics by DM or tag me on Instagram. Have so much fun decorating your classroom, and let me know if you have any questions!
