Okay… so, it’s time to spill the beans. You may have noticed, my blog posts have been a little fewer of late. This is because I’ve been busy working away in the background on a little project…
Sunday 12 March 2017 It's still pouring so I'm happily hanging out in my craft room making cards! I was pottering around with the Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack and the Window Shopping stamp set and decided to make another card for the Colour Challenge over at the Global Design Project. Here are the colours for the challenge: And here's my latest card: I'm thinking of having a challenge with myself - use every stamp in each set! Sometimes I realise (mostly when the stamp set is being retired) that I haven't used some of the stamps and suddenly they seem like the best stamps! Today I've used the "Thanks for being a great friend" and the "Square of Flowers" on my card - I've only got 10 more stamps in the set that I haven't used now! The Cupcakes and Carousels DSP is perfect for this colour challenge as it has all the colours in it and I've highlighted them with the cardstock, twine and enamel dots too. The DSP inside the envelope adds a nice little finishing touch. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Woohoo for Watercolor Pencils! Stampin' Up!'s new Watercolor pencils are high-quality, smooth color pencils. Perfect for watercoloring stamped images. I've been asked how they differ from the retired Stampin' Up! pencils. Here's my thoughts on that... They come in Stampin' Up! colors - yay! The seem to be a "softer pencil" - easier to color The blend real nicely! 141709 Watercolor Pencils Use with Aqua Painters, Blender Pens, or alone. 13 pencils in Stampin’ Up! colors: Basic Black, Basic Gray, Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, Rich Razzleberry,...

It started out early with pigs & then I had boys all day. We played outside for about 2 1/2 hours yesterday morning & then we went out again for awhile yesterday afternoon. When everyone was gone- I burnt the midnight oil working on stamping stuff. The guys went racing in Columbus Junction for a special race there. Nathan got in a wreck in his heat race; they checked things out while under the caution & he ended up getting 2nd place. He started 9th in the feature & he finished 4th. This morning I'm off to go pick up all of my boys. I'll take the twins to pre-school & then spend my day with Trey & Masen. Tonight we are suppose to race in Osky, but it sounds like we might get rained out. I will be home cutting card stock either way though.....this is just a crazy busy week for me. I hope you have a WONDERFUL Wednesday! Happy Stamping! Hugs- SUSIE

The South Pacific Artisans have conspired to bring you a mini blog hop today that showcases the fun Day at the Beach stamp set. When I glimpsed this set in the holiday catalogue I added it to my order immediately! I think it will be perfect for embellishing a scrapbook of our family holiday to sunny Queensland earlier this year, not to mention, great for beachy inspired cards like these ones here today. For this first card I drew inspiration from our Queensland holiday. I started with a piece of shimmery white cardstock, which I watercoloured with dapper denim and tempting turquoise. I flicked quite a bit of water on the finished panel for a blotchy, under the sea type background. I inked the Day at the Beach images with Classic Stampin' Pads and stamped them on shimmery card too, before clear embossing. The embossing helped the colour stay sharp during the colouring process - no bleeding! For my next project, I stamped the images in black on shimmery white before watercolouring. I then fussy cut them and added them to a whisper white card base. I added the Sunburst Sayings sentiment 'you brighten my day', it seemed like a wonderful fit for this bright summery scene. In keeping with the little watercolouring theme I had going with these projects, I was inspired to try a little messy watercolouring by this card made by Debby at Lime Doodle Designs. I stamped the images over a piece of shimmery white, added little hearts from the Places You'll Go set in the gaps between, then aqua painted. Despite my I hope that you've enjoyed this little taste of summer! Be sure to visit the talented Jessica Williams and clever Susan Wong to see what they've created. Good morning all! This week I thought I would give the Global Design Project a go. Each week they give different types of inspiration for a challenge, this week it is CASE the designer Connie Collins #GDP064 I decided to follow Brian's example and show case one of the stamp sets I won at On Stage Local. I was lucky enough to win Beautiful You. I took the yellow, green, blue colour pallet from Connie's card. I stamped the main image using Early Espresso then coloured her in using Stampin' Write Markers. I just knew her dress had to be green, bizarrely as green is not one of my go to colours. Once I had settled on Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist and So Saffron chose themselves! So Saffron Wild Wasabi Marina Mist The reflection is also part of the stamp set and the sentiment 'Life may not be the party we had hoped for but while we're here we might as well dance' is perfect. I love both the carefree images and the lovely sentiments, this set is in the Stampin' Up! 2017 Spring/Summer catalogue and will be available for you to order from 4th January 2017. Linda xx
