Teachers are amazing! They dedicate their days to changing the lives of children. They deserve more than just one week a year to show them our love an appreciation. But, nationally, one week is devoted to celebrating teachers. Teacher Appreciation Week is a time where parents, PTA's and administrative teams show teachers how much we appreciate their hard work and dedication. Teachers are indeed Superheroes! So, what better way to celebrate than a week of Superhero themed goodies and fun! You want to immerse your teachers in the theme by spending a little time decorating. You can start by sprucing up the front office and teacher lunch room with Superhero themed decorations. We used colored butcher paper and construction paper to cover the front entrance by the school office, or our "Superhero Headquarters." It was easy to make the cityscape buildings with black and yellow construction paper. We just cut them in rectangles and squares and pasted them on the butcher paper. The teacher lunchroom wall was covered by party scene backdrops sold at places like Party City or Oriental Trading. We also bought plastic table covers and Superhero cardboard word cutouts to use on the tables. Some of these items can also be found inexpensively at the Dollar Tree or other Dollar Stores. These small touches help put everyone in the mood of the theme. We planned special events or treats for each day of the week We wanted the teachers to have more than just one day of celebration. We had the school Sunshine Committee and our PTA help fund some of the activities: Monday: Super Staff Gift Tuesday: Super Staff Popcorn Bar Wednesday: "Souper" Hero Sandwich Luncheon Thursday: Super Charged Breakfast Friday: Captain America Corn in a Cup The small gift we made was super easy and inexpensive. We purchased hand sanitizer bottles from the Dollar Tree and wrapped them in a label we made on the computer. Teachers can always use sanitizer, right? We just printed the "Super Germ Fighter" printout on regular paper, cut it out and taped it to the hand sanitizer bottle. Then we added a bow to spruce it up a little. The teachers really appreciated the thoughtful gift. If you would like to download a FREE copy of the "Super Germ Fighter" printouts to make your own sanitizer bottle, you can find it in my Free Resource Library. The Popcorn Bar was a huge hit. We set it up in the Teacher's Lounge so staff could help themselves anytime that afternoon. We had freshly popped popcorn (Our school has a popcorn machine, but you could buy already popped popcorn from the snack aisle in your grocery store. You could also check with your local movie theater because they might be able to sell you a large quantity of popcorn at a special price.) We added all kinds of fun popcorn toppings: Flavored Salts and Popcorn Seasonings, M&Ms, Cheese Balls, Whoppers, Goldfish, Pretzels, etc. You could add anything to a Popcorn Bar. Teachers and staff loved the fun afternoon snack. One of the biggest events that week was the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. We had a "Souper" Hero Sandwich Luncheon. Lunch was two types of soups, sandwiches and chips. Cupcakes were an easy dessert. The room was decorated with Superhero colors and party goods. It was super easy to make centerpieces with small boxes wrapped in paper to make them look like city buildings. We even set up a Photo Booth with a cityscape backdrop drawn with chalk on black butcher paper. The building in the front is a science board we cut to look like buildings with yellow construction paper windows. Staff could stand between the science board and the backdrop to take some "Super" photos with our photo props. If you are interested in learning more about what we did during our Superhero Teacher Appreciation Week celebration, you can click the picture below to find the packet on my TPT store. It includes editable printables and lots of ideas to help you host your own Superhero Teacher Appreciation Week Celebration. Planning a special week like this for our teachers takes a little time and effort, but we think it is well worth it. Even if you don't have the time or resources to do a whole week worth of celebrating, any of these ideas can be something you can do for your teachers. Any small gesture goes a long way to telling them how much we appreciate what they do. We want to acknowledge and celebrate the amazing work and contributions our teachers make in educating our children. They are definitely our unsung "Superheroes!" Until Next Time,

So this is where I get to spend some valuable time with some pretty awesome people! This is a view from the doorway to the "front" of my room. I don't know why I call it the front but that's it's title and it's too much to change it now lol!! I did this over my door on the hallway side to kind of go with my pinch of a superhero theme. Not really into the whole full blown theme these days. I just seemed to get tired of looking at it the entire year. But I like a little novelty to get the kiddos excited. Not sure who first started this behavior chart system, but I am loving it for my class! I've been doing it for a few years and just made this new one for this year. I love the idea of rewarding those sweethearts that are just always found doing what they are suppose to be doing!! When they make it to Amazing, they get a jewel on their pin. You would have thought it was a priceless gem!! I also added in a reward on each of the move ups. They LOVE it! Wish I had one more level up from Superhero but too late to change it now. Maybe next year! These are my birthday baskets!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this idea that I totally snagged from another blogger (can't remember who, but THANK YOU)!! I have a basket for boys and one for girls. I only keep about 5 in each one at any given time. They have inexpensive prizes in them that I pick up throughout the year at Dollar Tree or wherever! If they have a birthday in July, they get to pick one our first week in school. If they have a birthday in June, they get to pick one before we leave for summer break! Not totally thrilled with this yet. Needed to add some pop on the boring cabinets and needed a place to anchor my number words. Used wrapping paper from Wal-Mart as the background and then laminated it all! My calendar and math manipulative area! Use this EVERY morning with our math notebooks! Student cubby areas for their art boxes and big ole science and social studies textbooks! Just dishpans from WM and used our Silhouette to make the student numbers. Birthday banner bulletin board and places to park the paper trail of parent notes, student handouts, and the like. My HUGE desk that was a thrift store find on the cheap and it was in perfect condition. Even has the L for a computer.....if I had one! Another view of the front! Not sure if you can make out the name hangers from my ceiling. Each child has one and someday soon we will have some fabulous art work hanging down! Can't wait! Another view! Notice all the empty wall space for upcoming charts and student work! Bulletin board in the hallway that no one but my class ever sees :( ! Our character this week!! Arthur from our reading series story Arthur's Reading Race! Superhero job chart! Thanks Pinterest! A job for everyone. All 14 of them! Our classroom library! I sooo struggle with organization here! Another view of my desk area that I house stuff! High frequency word wall! Small group area that is behind my desk! Station rotation chart. We have 10 stations. Each student goes to two stations every day for 30 minutes. I would really love to paint this monster of a file cabinet, but it is most likely waxed to the floor and I'm sure it weighs like a billion pounds! Portable stations! Spelling and high frequency words for the week! Well, that's about it! I am really out of my comfort zone sharing my classroom! I know there are so many teachers with rooms that should be in magazines or something, so click on the link below and enjoy theirs! https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9N6DTHw557mr34Ts8A_HxQ4YDThUH-E4PK7JbKpU0eYdkjsSRFsmXe4kGVUUvjDIgp7mSzESSZ3vzk79tlQV-BTviGfPHVdfs7tSlKsMSUeJxQ-ve6t_1mHa2uDasR3GX6gckAif6C7Y/s1600/Blog+Hoppin+BTS-02.png

Build teacher morale by printing out this chart to tell teachers what their Teacher Superhero name would be! Post this chart in the teacher workroom, copy room, or post before a staff meeting to create a positive mood and just have fun. Just use the chart to identify your birth month and your first initial and you will come up with a hilarious and fun teacher superhero name. Some of the teacher superhero names include: • Defender of the Data • Guardian of the #2 Pencils • Protector of All Velcro • Warrior of All Field Trips And many more! What is Teacher Morale? Teacher morale is the overall level of confidence, enthusiasm, and positive attitude among teachers in a building. Teachers have so much on their plates, which adds to stress levels and sometimes even tensions among colleagues. By adding fun activities and taking time to appreciate one another, teacher morale can be improved. Even just a small boost can help educators feel invigorated and encouraged. It's important for administrators to recognize that teacher morale is a critical element in a positive school climate overall. ***************************************************************************** Tips for Customers!
