Back in the 80's, before Shaun White could even put on his own snowsuit, not to mention become an ambassador to men's Fashion Week, snowboarding was staking its claim as a counterculture even more out-there than skateboarding. Snow Beach: Snowboarding Style '86-'96, a new book edited by Alex Dymond and published by powerHouse Books, takes an in-depth look back at those early days before with the aim of setting the historical record straight—and memorializing the fluorescent nylons, ultra-reflective goggles, cheetah-print hair, and other style trademarks that ruled the '80s and '90s.
