LES ROULETTES FOOD TRUCKS WATERFRONT, PAPEETE FRENCH POLYNESIA 148631865 HOURS: 6:00 PM - 2:00 AM The Waterfront Food Trucks in Papeete, Tahiti are highly ranked on TripAdvisor and were recommended by our Flight Attendant on the flight down to Tahiti. Not knowing much about the local food scene, we decided to try it out during one of our first nights in Papeete. We arrived just past 6:00 pm to find just a few people standing in line or sitting at tables. As the evening progressed many tables were filled with locals and tourists devouring huge plates of food. Most or all of the Food Trucks here have tables where you can sit. They actually bring you full menus that are all in French and provide table service. Simply order from your waiter or waitress and in minutes your food is delivered. Everyone speaks French so knowing a few words or being able to translate helps. We had the vision of visiting each food truck and there were around eight of them. Thought we would have one plate of food at each truck to try them all. Well, we made it through two. Our first stop was at Chez Dominique. This place serves up towering plates of food that are massive. We went for the Steak Frites (1350 XPF) or about $14 US. The steak was large but unseasoned. Still tasted good though. We tried adding salt from the shaker at the table but it was all clogged up. The French Fries below the steak were awesome. Crispy, thin and very tasty. After sharing this one plate we all were pretty full and my dream of hitting all of the trucks soon faded. We did manage to visit Roulotte Kim which serves a localized, French Chinese menu. We tried the Spicy Shrimps (1800 XPF) or around $18 US. The Shrimp was not spicy at all and in fact had very little flavor. We did get full eating here and the food was not bad at all. LES ROULOTTES CHEZ DOMINIQUE SERVES UP HUGE PLATES OF FOOD CHEZ DOMINIQUE SERVING OUT OF FOOD TRUCK COOKING OUTSIDE THE TRUCK TOO CHEZ DOMINIQUE MENU YES, EVERYTHING IS IN FRENCH IN TAHITI POISSON MEANS FISH IN FRENCH ONE PLATE OF STEAK FRITES WAS LARGE ENOUGH FOR OUR ENTIRE FAMILY ROULOTTE KIM FOOD TRUCK IN PAPEETE, TAHITI COOKING CHINESE FOOD INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE FOOD TRUCK ROULOTTE KIM MENU SPICY SHRIMPS WERE NOT SPICY
CROWN GRILL REGAL PRINCESS CRUISE SHIP The Crown Grill is a great dining option if you don't mind paying the $29 cover charge per person. For big eaters it is probably a good deal as you can mow down several steaks, sides and a dozen lobster tails. I opted to keep my meals small and went for the 8oz Filet on two occasions. Both times the steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested. This was a really good steak that was up there with a Ruth's Chris or other high end steak house. While service was a little off probably due to the restaurant being quite busy the staff did try to rebound when mistakes were made. I ordered a Baked Potato with the works and received just a plain baked potato. Rather than bring out the condiments for my lonely potato the waiter quickly removed it and brought a new one that was warm along with all of the fixins. I also liked the Onion Soup here. Great onion flavor but with a little bit too much cheese but still excellent. Also liked the fact that when you order the Lobster Tails they bring out large plates of them until you cannot eat anymore. Nothing conjures up the taste, smell, and images of Hawaii than the taste of Lilikoi [passion fruit]. Well, nothing except for the smell of salty sea air, warm balmy breezes, tuberose, shave ice, and plate lunches, of course. Combine the tart sweetness of Lilikoi curd, airy clouds of whipped cream, with a chiffon cake and you’ve got yourself a recipe for a little taste of fluffy heaven.

Manapua, Hawaii's equivalent to Chinese pork buns (char siu bao), is one of my all-time favorite comfort foods. Growing up on the mainland, my family was far away from our extended family in Hawaii, so the taste of iconic local-style dishes always transported us back to our home on the islands. Over the years, my mom cracked the code to making absolutely killer baked manapua easily, thanks to a secret ingredient & a semi-homemade approach. Pre-made dinner roll dough from the freezer section yields perfectly soft & puffy buns without the fuss involved with mixing & kneading homemade bread dough. Simply thaw them out, stuff them with a savory-spiced-sweet char siu pork filling, & bake until beautifully golden. Easy! While this baked manapua recipe is easy, there is a fair amount of time involved in thawing & proofing the bread dough. It's mostly inactive, but you can also take a number of different make-ahead manapua approaches to help streamline day-of prep. See the Recipe Notes, below, for more details. Nothing beats freshly baked manapua from a bakery in Hawaii, of course, but I think my family's at-home manapua recipe is just about the next best thing. We hope you enjoy! ♡

I had seen photographs of the food and it looked incredible. We stopped in for lunch and I was blown away by the beauty of the restaurant. So classy, calm and inviting inside. While the inside was beautiful we opted to sit outside on the terrace on a perfect Hawaii afternoon. Our waiter Matt was professional and pleasant. He explained a few dishes and the Chef's Recommendations. After getting our drinks and ordering a complimentary soup dish was served. Chicken Soup with Cabbage. Very light and refreshing surprise. We started with the Fresh Rolls ($10.50) that were filled with Shrimp, Pork and Vegetables. Served with Peanut Sauce. The presentation was very nice and the rolls were "fresh". This was a nice light start to our meal. Next up was the Pad Thai ($20.95) with Chicken. Wow..what an incredible presentation. The large Banana Leaf Blossom and webbed egg gave this dish the wow factor. They use a thicker noodle than most Pad Thai's and the flavor of this dish is very mild. Good but not great. Next up was the Chef Recommended Crispy Garlic Chicken ($23.95). Again a "wow" presentation. The domed cover was filled with steam when our waiter unveiled the chicken. Flavor was again ok but not great. Reminded me of the Orange Chicken you can get at Panda Express for a fraction of the price. The Yellow Curry with Crab ($35.00) was expensive and we had to pay an extra $4 for Sticky Rice as Jasmine Rice is offered with the dish. I liked the flavor of this dish but not the price. I loved the presentation of the food at Noi but only liked the flavors. Definitely want to get back here again and try a few more dishes. Everything on the menu looks so good. I don’t advise surfing into Hawaiian Bros uninformed like I did because, after opening up the admirably biodegradable divided clamshell of chow, my first thought was: What in Sam Hill is this…
