This is a post I am re-posting from last year. My lavender is blooming and this sweet pottery has been a favorite find of mine. I have received many hits on this post. The artist, Deb Mores, that created the pottery found my post and has left a comment. This pottery now is on my kitchen cabinets and I love to stop and admire it. It is such a cute tea set. This post last posted on 8/30/10. I am usually not very lucky at Goodwill. I really don't bother going because I never find anything, but this week I did. I found this tea set by Deb Mores. The pattern is Buzz Buzz. It was made in 1999. The tea pot and sugar are shaped like a straw bee hive. The are bees buzzing all about. Lavender is blooming all around to keep the little bees happy. A bee perched on the tea pot lid. There is also a bee on the sugar lid. As luck would have it, my lavender just bloomed a second time so I picked a bunch for my tea. I also have found a lovely little tea towel made of cotton and linen that has been hand embroidered with little bees. I was really pleased with the find. I got a large platter, 4 dinner plates, a pitcher, and this tea set for $12.75. The tea mug is from my Corelle Country Cottage. It just about matches the color of the lavender on the tea pot and accessories. Thanks for joining me for a late summer tea...buzz.....buzz Sherry I will link with Chari for Sunday Favorites at Happy to Design and with The Tablescaper for Seasonal Sunday.

Tea Pets are small, decorative figurines that are typically made of redware, a type of clay that is abundant in the Yixing region of China. This clay is prized for its ability to absorb the flavors and scents of tea, and is also highly durable and long-lasting. Tea Pets come in a wide variety of shapes, from animals like cats, dogs, and monkeys, to more abstract designs like vases, flowers, and pagodas. Some are simple and minimalist, while others are intricately detailed and brightly colored. They are often used in traditional Chinese tea ceremonies, and are placed on tea trays or in tea rooms. To "nourish" the tea pet, one simply pours tea over the pet, allowing it to absorb the flavors and scents of the tea. Over time, the tea pet will change color and develop a unique patina, becoming more and more valuable as a collectible item. In Chinese culture, tea pets are believed to bring good luck and fortune to their owners. They are often given as gifts to friends and family members, and are considered to be symbols of wealth and prosperity. They are also believed to promote harmony and friendship, as they are often shared among friends during tea ceremonies. Overall, tea pets are a fascinating and unique aspect of Chinese culture, and they continue to be cherished and prized by tea enthusiasts around the world. How to use Tea Pet? Fill a teapot with hot water: Start by heating water in a kettle or teapot. The water should be hot enough to steep the tea leaves you will be using. Rinse the tea pet: Rinse the tea pet with hot water to clean it and to warm it up. This will also help to prepare the pet for the tea. Prepare the tea leaves: Prepare the tea leaves by placing them in the teapot. You can use any type of tea leaves you like, but it is traditional to use oolong or black tea for tea pets. Steep the tea leaves: Steep the tea leaves in the teapot by pouring the hot water over them. Follow the steeping instructions for the specific type of tea leaves you are using. Pour tea over the tea pet: Once the tea leaves have finished steeping, pour some of the tea over the tea pet. Make sure to pour enough tea to cover the pet and to let it absorb the tea for a few minutes. Enjoy the tea: After pouring the tea over the pet, enjoy your tea! The tea pet will change color and develop a unique patina over time as you use it more and more. Note: It's important to take good care of your tea pet by washing it regularly and storing it in a dry place. Avoid exposing the pet to harsh chemicals or extreme temperature changes, as this can damage the pet and affect its ability to absorb the tea. What's Tea Pet's Usage? The usage of tea pets is twofold: they are both used in traditional Chinese tea ceremonies and as decorative collectible items. Tea Ceremony: In a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, a tea pet is placed on a tea tray along with a teapot, cups, and other tea accessories. Hot water is poured over the tea pet to clean and warm it up, and then tea leaves are steeped in the teapot. The tea is then poured over the tea pet to "nourish" it. The tea pet is believed to bring good luck and fortune to its owner, and the act of sharing tea with friends and family while admiring the tea pet creates a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Decorative Collectible: Tea pets can also be collected and displayed as a form of art or as a way to showcase one's love of tea. They come in a wide variety of shapes and designs, from simple and minimalist to intricate and brightly colored. Over time, the tea pet will change color and develop a unique patina as it absorbs the flavors and scents of the tea, making each tea pet truly one-of-a-kind. In conclusion, tea pets serve as both a functional tool in tea ceremonies and as a decorative collectible that brings people together and symbolizes good luck and prosperity. Also in addition to being used in tea ceremonies and as a decorative item, tea pets can also be used as conversation starters and as a way to build relationships. Sharing tea with friends and family while admiring the tea pet can create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and can encourage people to connect and bond over a shared love of tea. Tea pets can also be collected and displayed as a form of art or as a way to showcase one's love of tea. Some people collect tea pets from all over the world, and enjoy displaying them in their homes or tea rooms. Overall, the use of tea pets goes beyond just being a tool for brewing tea. They can serve as a symbol of friendship and good fortune, a work of art, and a way to bring people together. What's Tea Pet's Material "Redware"? Redware is a type of pottery that is characterized by its reddish color and rough texture. It is made from a type of clay that contains iron oxide, which gives it its distinctive red hue. Redware has been used for thousands of years, and was particularly popular in Europe and the Middle East during the medieval period. Redware is known for its durability and versatility, and was used for a wide range of household items, including plates, bowls, jugs, and storage containers. It was also used for decorative items such as figurines and vases. Today, redware is still made and appreciated by potters and collectors alike. Many modern redware pieces are based on traditional designs and techniques, and are used for both functional and decorative purposes. Redware is valued for its rustic, earthy aesthetic, and is often used in rustic, country, and colonial-style decor. In summary, redware is a type of pottery that is known for its reddish color, rough texture, and versatility. It has been used for thousands of years and continues to be appreciated for its aesthetic appeal and practicality.
My English friends love tea, naturally, but despite living in London for over 25 years, I never quite understood the obsession with 'a good cuppa'. But these teapots, these teapots make me want to curl up in a kitschy English countryside cottage and make tea all damn day. Found on my long and perilo
