This is a hand tied art yarn skein, for knitting or Saori weaving, textile art projects of all kinds. Perfect, one of a kind gift for knitters or weavers. 371 yards of fun! Colorful palette of candy colors and serious texture. This is one happy bundle of yarn! Over 20 varieties of yarns and fibers are included, each one cut between 1 and 9 yards, hand tied to the next cutting, to make one continuous ready to use skein of yarn. In general, my Tied to My Heart skeins can consist of wool, cotton, silk, linen, hemp or any combination similar. You’ll also sometimes find sequined yarn, metallics, ladder ribbon, recycled sari silks, eyelash fibers, mohair, hand spun, hand dyed, natural locks…it just depends on what palette I’m putting together, and I select the fibers in a way to get you the most varied textures I can get. You can expect anything from luxury fibers to commercial yarns to funky novelty fibers…if it’s a lovely color with an interesting texture, I’m going to add it! I avoid anything “too” thick, like super chunky, and anything too thin that won’t give an impact. Any super thin fibers I have are added alongside other fibers to “thicken” it up, which intensifies the uniqueness of that section of your finished project. Custom orders are potentially available, just send me a message! Pet and smoke free home. Please be patient with shipping timeframes. I will get your order packaged and sent lickity split, but packages are still sometimes taking longer than expected, especially international orders. Garden Mist is handwoven on a 10” metal hoop with a plethora of different fibers and textures! All weavings are one of a kind and handwoven, by me, in my home in Vermont. I love to use color and texture to create movement in my pieces and I try to source the majority of my materials from other small, woman owned businesses. When you purchase my art, you are not just supporting me, you are supporting so many other makers and artists! This also means, that I often used hand or indie dyed yarns and Hand spun Art yarns that are unique and often one of a kind pieces of art in their own right! I try to capture colors as accurately as possible, but please keep in mind that colors vary from screen to screen. *Follow me on Instagram to see my new creations and keep up with my weaving and crafting journey! @VT_FiberArtsByL on Instagram

You have heard of Saori. And you have seen freeform art weaving. But you are not sure how freeform art weaving differs from Saori. Here's a breakdown.
Fibre and Textile Art Felting
This wall hanging was woven using mostly silk ribbons and silk fabric. Wool yarn, hand spun yarn, and specialty fibers were add to the weaving. The color scheme is a soft Shabby Chic with little pops of color. Added to the bottom are Mother of Pearl disks to add some texture and movement. And finally, I added 3 handmade pottery buttons that resemble little wood pieces.

This piece was hand-woven on a frame loom using luxury fibers - hand-dyed merino wool, hand-dyed and spun merino wool art yarn, and hung on scavenged driftwood from the Maine coast. The color story focuses on greens, purples, and hints of yellow and orange. 21 inches wide, driftwood end to end. 29 inches long from the the driftwood to the bottom of the fringe. The actual weave size is 15.5 by 28. It can be hung by the hanging thread (attached), or with two nails to set the driftwood on. Created in a smoke-free environment. Gently spot-clean with a damp cloth or shake gently to clean. Colors may look different in person than on your screen. I try to take pictures that are true to the color, but due to settings in computers, phones, or browser, they may look slightly different in person.
Drusilla's Enchanted Forest features 100% handspun weft weaving (most art yarn spun by me) of luxury American fiber from small farms, including Angora rabbit (ethically harvested during shedding), Alpaca, Silk (rose=red peace silk was grown on our farm and hand-dyed in the ancient way using cochineal), and wool ethically harvested from small farm-raised sheep, including The Livestock Conservancy listed sheep. Ancient Celtic lore connects the rabbit with otherworldliness, and this fairytale scene is soft and vivid to inspire imagination. The wallhanging consists of the handwoven scene, plus soumak-woven rabbit of Angora rabbit art yarn, embroidered sunflower of Angora rabbit art yarn, and woven gnarled tree of Alpaca art yarn appliqued to the scene. Includes ceramic charms and beads handcrafted by 2 American potters. The wooden dowel is handpainted and finished with wax using natural, nontoxic American products. Measures 28" (dowel) by 34" (dowel to longest fringe ends) to create a statement piece for your living space. Original design informed by over 20 years of my experience working in fiber arts.

This beautiful art yarn combines soft merino in shades of aqua, light teal, sienna, butterscotch, mustard, pale yellow, cream, sandstone, natural and finished with sparkle provided by silver angelina fibres. The wool was blended by hand, spun as a single thick and thin, and finally coil spun on a core of mohair thread. Yarn weight: Bulky 5-7 Use it to add extra beauty to your weaving and textile art creations. Remember to knot the ends of the yarn when cutting to prevent the coils unwinding. I aim to get photos as close as possible to the true colours in the yarn, but please be aware that colours may vary from monitor to monitor. Custom lengths are also available at £2.10 per metre.

About The Artwork Cloud tapestry and J.M.G. Le Clézio wonders in his book L’inconnu sur la terre: Where do they come from? Who makes the clouds, tell me, who makes them grow? I repeat these questions and turn them into textile art: a Cloud tapestry. The weft effect rep technique dominate in the tapestry. And the weft cord graceful holds the paper petal. The meeting of literature and art. In a tapestry that contains the essence of ideas, materialised in a form. The Cloud tapestry, a tapestry that walks and plays with the satisfaction of raising your head and feeling the presence of many bodies in one. Clouds live in the sky. They are many, and light, light. They cross space, without hurrying, they pass slowly over the earth, just like that, all swollen like sails, or lying down like shreds of white clothing. They are beautiful! Clouds, soft, calm, strange clouds, gray clouds, with ductile shapes… It is enough to raise your head and look with wide open eyes, as if it were water. And it is drunk with the pupils and the freshness enters the body and washes, calms, fills, and the softness of the light enters the body and bathes each organ, warms, soothes, and in the pure sky where the clouds calmly metamorphose , you can see, as in a mirror, our own clear and pure gaze, where the sun illuminates, in each pupil, a dancing star. The great design of the Cloud tapestry is made with raw cotton ropes of different thicknesses and gauze and fiber craft paper. The weft effect rep technique dominate in the tapestry. And the weft cord graceful holds the paper petal. The most widespread uses of the weft-effect rep technique are found in shawls and ponchos. These hold the shape of the garment better and are more often used for intricate designs. A wall hanging tapestry, simply put, is a textile specifically designed and woven to portray an artistic scene with the intent of hanging it on a wall. Antique tapestries, those that were woven over 100 years ago, are highly sought after collectible items with examples displayed prominently in many museums around the world. While some wall tapestries can date to the biblical era, most of the great examples known today are from the medieval or Renaissance periods of history. Nobility and wealthy patrons commissioned tapestries depicting scenes or images of importance. These weavings served as a large-scale mobile art piece which would have been displayed on the wall of a castle or home and was easily transportable from home to home. Many of the surviving antique tapestries depict religious and / or historic events. For example, a king might have commissioned one with a scene depicting a great victory in battle. As the king moved to his various palaces or castles, the tapestry could be moved along with him as well. Another example could be a religious weavings, commissioned by a religious institution and some would only be displayed at the church or cathedral during certain religious events. Other wall tapestries might display images of a family and those would usually depict the family’s coats of arms. Antique tapestries vary in size, and range from items that would cover a single wall of a small room to major works that are massive in size. Some antique wall hanging tapestry rugs are actually sets or a series of works on a common theme.

This piece is inspired by one of my early morning walks, when dandelions and alder flowers were all around. For background I searched for several matching upholstery samples which I sew together by hand. The alder flowers are made from hand-spun wool, the dragonflies are stamped on the fabric and in the middle of the dandelion is an old button.
