August has arrived with all the happy days that it has to offer, including some brand new creative inspiration and challenge from us to you right here on the More Than Words blog! July has been a very popular month as far as your participation is concerned and we want to take the time to thank you for your ongoing support and for inspiring us in turn with so many gorgeous creations. We hope that you will do so again this month with this brand new challenge: Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge. Word Inspiration - YESTERDAY Creative Challenge - VINTAGE What does the word YESTERDAY inspire you to create? You can choose to use the actual word somewhere on your project or simply be inspired by it. Since words are an integral part of our challenges, we want to know how this month's word stimulated your creative process, so please do explain in your blog post how it inspired you if it isn't obvious in your work. We're heading back in time this month with a VINTAGE creative challenge. Think sepia or black and white photos, subdued colours and gorgeous textures. The vintage style evokes a sense of history with images and elements associated with a forgotten (or unforgotten thanks to the wonderful hobby of scrapbooking) past. You might like to use an old photograph, a patterned paper with an antique look or an old-fashioned embellishment on your project. Look back to the past for your inspiration! Please check out all our challenge rules in the RULES tab above. Now let's see what our fabulous designers have come up with! DI GARLING Di: My layout features this photo of my dear mother in law who passed away back in 2003. She was a wonderful woman in so many ways and I thought that this challenge was perfect to capture the essence of her photo. 'Remember when', the quote that I used, is so relevant to the word YESTERDAY and reminds us of how quickly time passes us all by. One minute we are a young and beautiful woman and in the blink of an eye we are gone. It is the circle of life, I suppose. For the VINTAGE creative challenge, I chose old fashioned flower patterns and crochet doilies to go along with this gorgeous old photo. MARY CATT Mary: I love creating vintage-style projects, and this month's word inspired me to make a canvas with an old photo of a beautiful young woman who lived in the 1900's. I used a sticker that states 'Stronger than YESTERDAY.' I added a fancy antique frame and some lace flowers as part of the VINTAGE creative challenge. PAMELA ELLIS Pamela: To represent the word inspiration YESTERDAY, I picked a black and white formal portrait of my parents' wedding. There were no other photos from this day so I cherish it very dearly. To incorporate the VINTAGE creative challenge, I used pink and brown papers as well as a damask stencil and stamp to try and make the paper look older. VALERIE OUELLET Valerie: I was inspired by the style and the VINTAGE colours of this challenge. I used a photo with a vintage look and added some old-fashioned items like crochet doilies, antique buttons and a clock. The word inspiration I incorporated by using a quote sticker with the word YESTERDAY. JANICE NICHOLLS Janice: My inspiration for this month's challenge came from this photo of my Mum's hands. I have journaled about what these hands have done on many a YESTERDAY and still do today. She is my inspiration. For the creative challenge I have added a filter to the photo to match it to the VINTAGE brown and beige colour palette and added a clock and a doily to my cluster. ANGUREE VAN RENSBURG Anguree: I love creating VINTAGE projects. There's just something so romantic about it. I was inspired by this photo of my cousin and his beautiful wife, kissing and celebrating their engagement a few years ago. It occurred to me that love is one of those things that never really gets old, yet it has been around since the beginning of time. I guess you could argue that unlike the car in the photo, it's not old but definitely vintage. It's a treasure of YESTERDAY that we are still blessed to enjoy today and tomorrow and for however long it is granted to us. ASIA MARQUET Asia: This month's challenge is to me a great reminder that I need to focus less on what has been and more on what will be. I tend to focus on the past, analyzing and reliving it, and that's not really good. I know I need to look more into the future. Instead of being rooted and tied up in the past (like the lady in the photo), I need to learn from my mistakes and move forward with a heart full of hope. So, for me, YESTERDAY should mean much, much less than it does. For the creative challenge, I used VINTAGE colours, papers and photo. TORSA SAHA Torsa: To me YESTERDAY is only a closed door! No matter how much I miss it, no longer can I live it or get it back. Today it's just a part of memory. For the VINTAGE creative challenge, I have used an image of a shabby old door as well as a few old ripped up book pages and lace ribbons on my layout. FRANCE RINGUETTE France: This month I was inspired by this amazing VINTAGE photo of my mother in law. I love the vintage elements like the clock and old camera ornaments that I found in my stash which were perfect for my layout. The word inspiration brought to mind this quote: 'Learn from YESTERDAY; live for today; hope for tomorrow' which I added to my page. ANAT WEKSLER Anat: I absolutely love VINTAGE! The multilayered style matches so well with vintage designs. I decided to use my paternal grandparents' photo due to its vintage look and because of the happiness shown on my grandmother's face. The word YESTERDAY has everything to do with family in my mind and learning about our past and our roots. I enjoyed very much creating this layout. ROSALIE DUKE-STANLEY Rosalie: This is a wonderful photo of my late father who enjoyed being creative even in his last years. The colour palette that I have used was inspired by the VINTAGE look and the photo reminds me of my dad. It still feel like only YESTERDAY when he was with us. The dragonfly, dandelion stamping and rose stencil are all a nod to my father's love of nature. CAROLINE ELLIAM Caroline: My inspiration for this month's challenge started with this picture of my in-laws. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last month. To think about their journey together reminds me of our inspiration word YESTERDAY. Their life as a couple is made out of many yesterdays and they got through all of them with love. For our creative twist, I have of course my picture, but I also stayed in the VINTAGE style with a lot of brown and beige. HEIKE'S AUGENBLICK HEIKE: I created for the August challenge this layout with an old photo of my mother. Unfortunately she is no longer with us, and sadly, I do not have many photos of her. This photo is one of the few that we still have after a water damage in our house. The sepia photo incorporates the VINTAGE creative challenge and the word YESTERDAY is handwritten on the page. MARTINA STOYCHEVA Martina: This month's challenge inspired me to create a layout in greys and blues. I love this paper and its background reminds me of VINTAGE wallpaper. I also used this old black and white photo as inspiration. I love to give life to my projects so that they are not meaningless. That's why I, inspired by the August word, chose a quote from Rumi stating 'YESTERDAY I was clever so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise so I am changing myself.' DAISY RAMSAY Daisy: For this challenge, I got inspired by an old wedding picture of my grandparents. I never got to know my grandfather because he passed away before I was born, but I've had great moments with my wonderful grandmother before she passed away too. I wish I could go back to YESTERDAY just to enjoy another day of happiness with her. For me VINTAGE is all about soft pink and gold, doily textures and old vintage lights. AGA BARANIAK Aga: I love this month's challenge. Family, and most specifically my ancestors, are the most precious people in the world because were it not for them and the life they had YESTERDAY, I wouldn't be here today. I created this canvas as a tribute to them using very old VINTAGE photos, colours and designs. SIVAN AMEDI Sivan: For me YESTERDAY symbolizes the past, the memories of the times gone by, good or bad. I always miss these days, but I enjoy living in the present and look forward to the future. Anyone who knows me knows that I am very VINTAGE in my soul. I love old manners, hairstyles, flowers, lace dresses and the simple childhood without all the distractions there are today. In this layout I used a picture of a sweet little vintage girl and created many layers with a lot of flowers in antique colours. NICOLE DOIRON Nicole: The word YESTERDAY obviously made me go back in the past, and this picture came to mind. It's of my mom when she was only a teenager posing with her youngest brother in an old photo booth. She was a spitfire as people tell me, and you can tell by this picture. I absolutely love the hairstyle! To incorporate the VINTAGE creative challenge, I chose the sepia photo and decorated my page with old-fashioned buttons and brads. ''Always Smile'' Hello my friends! I'm so excited to share with you my posts for 2Crafty Chipboards. But before I continue... Please remember while you are here be sure you have become a blog follower and leave a comment to be eligible to go in out monthly draw for a great chippie prize pack. I also have a video tutorial on how I made this layout. CLICK HERE TO VIEW VIDEO I based this layout on the July challenge at More than Words which is hosting a wonderful sketch this month and also White... with 1. I used the following 2Crafty Chipboards... 6" Circle Dot Frames Fine Word Set 1 Lavender Shrub Word Circles Set 1 I started by giving all my chipboards a coat of gesso. When dry, I colored the ''Lavendar Shrub'' and my title word ''Always'' from the ''Fine Word Set 1'' with Lindy's Stamp Gang magical powder ''Tilt-a-wheel teal''. I cut a small piece of the ''Lavendar Shrub'' and used it for my small cluster here. To frame my photo, I used a circle chipboard from the ''6 Circle Dot Frames''. I also colored it with Lindy's Stamp Gang magical powder ''Tilt-a-wheel teal''. I heat embossed the word ''Smile'' from the ''Word Circles Set 1'' with Lindy's Stamp Gang ''Angel Wings Ruby'' embossing powder. ''Dream'' 2Crafty Chiboards I used... ATC Words 1 ATC Butterflies ATC Flourish 2 Flower Doilies Leafy Shrub Set 1 Here is my video tutorial on how I made this canvas. TO VIEW VIDEO CLICK HERE. I have based my canvas on the July challenge at Prima Marketing PPP. This time, I decided not to coat my chipboards with gesso as I usually do. Instead, I painted them directly with Finnabair acrylic paints and the result was amazing. I really loved the result... I wish I could show you how they shine! I painted the chipboards I used from the ''ATC Flourish 2'' and from the ''Leafy Shrub Set 1'' with ''Deep Waters'' acrylic paint. I heat embossed the butterfly chippies from the ''ATC Butterflies'' with Ranger Distress Powder in ''Scattered Straw''. I also painted my flower doily from the ''Flower Doilies'' chipboard set with acrylic paint in ''Royal Red'' this time. I treated my title word from ''ATC Words 1'' the same way as the Flower Doily. Well, that's all from me today... Thank you for your time!
Now that it is officially fall, we got into some gorgeous, rich colors! October's Prima Product Pick was based on vibrant purple, dusty mauve, taupe, and light khaki! There was no better way to go from the bright colors of summer to the deeper colors...

We are happy to welcome Mary Catt from Greece as Guest designer for this sketch challenge: Mary Catt For my page, I used 7dots ''Yuletide'' Collection and the ''Gingerbread'' paper. I made my background with Finnabair graphite texture paste and a stencil, my favorite Lindy's Stamp Gang black mist and some stamps. I used 2Crafty chipboards which I heat embossed with black embossing powder. Set my clusters and some final touches with some black pearls. Prima "Tales Of You & Me", Moi aussi, Je t'aime An InLinkz Link-up

I painted, added lace gold foiled on top and bronze foiled the bust! I painted the face by mixing up brushed bronze and mother of pearl. Using oasis in the head, I was able to add flowers, words, feathers, light bulbs, clock and butterflies! Using hot glue I attached all other Prime flowers! I loved every minute of this off the page project! Products used: And Last but not Least is a CANVAS I have created REMEMBER TODAY The photo is of my sister-in-laws, brother and his new wife! I created the back ground, using distress ink and all purpose ink. then on top, clear gesso added my "Dress my Craft" sequins that you can buy online from Dusty Attic http://dustyattic.com.au for the Chippies titles I bronzed foiled and stained The border flourishes and titles I painted with all purpose gold ink. HUGE DISCOUNT ON DUSTY ATTIC DESIGNER KITS HERE 30% OFF means a $25.00 kit is now only $17.50 (Postage not included) Plus ONLY ONE MYSTERY BOX LEFT! PATRICIA BASSON Hello to all my Blog Friends.... The Moodboard at Dusty Attic this month was simply divine and absolutly my favourite of the year because of the earthy Greens and Browns on it...seeing as Fall is my favourite time of the year. I had this photo of me from quite a few years ago sitting on a carpet of fallen Fall Leaves, perfect for this lay-out. The papers I used are very old, they date from when I started Srcapbooking! I do not know from which company they are. I did not add any Mixed Media products at all, thought the papers are beautiful as they are and I rather spend time treating the Dusty Chipboards and doing some hand stitching for extra interest.... On the Notepad Edge Frame I used Art Alchemy Antique Brilliance Wax, Lucky Emerald and Red Amber. On the Ornate Circle Frame the following Rust Effect Pastes, Dark Olive, Green-Grey and Rusty. The Branches also got a Wax treatment, this time with Bronze Age, Aged Brass and a little Lucky Emerald. The Bird Nest was painted with different Brown and Raw Sienna Acrylic paints...I layered all the chipboards and papers to create a lot of depth on this page. The Ivy Flourish was painted with Greens, Brown and Beige paints. Also sprayed Ethereal Emerald and Treasure Island Turquoise Moon Shadow Mists from Lindy's Stampgang.I then added some glass chips and topped it with clear UTEE. Sprayed some more Mists that pooled in the cravices... These painted Branches got a coating of clear Crackle Varnish. All the flowers are from Petaloo. Feel welcome to partake in our monthly challenges and stand a chance of winning one of two $50 gift vouchers to spend in the Dusty On-line Store. Products I used... Hello dears! It's Mary here today with a new layout based on our November's moodboard. I loved the autumn colors and the magical feeling of the photos. And here is the moodboard... I used the color palette, the birds and the flowers from the board to create my layout which I also based it on the sketch too. I used a paper from the Fortune Teller 7dots Studio collection for my background and I created texture with modeling paste and a stencil. I made a little stamping here and there and next I added color with Lindy's Gang sprays. Next step was to color my Dusty Attic chipboards with Finnabair acrylic paints and a waxes. I hope I gave you some inspiration and see you on our challenge! Until next time happy creating!

My name is Mary and I live in Greece with my husband and our three children. I met scrapbooking three years ago and since then it has been my obsession! I love creating layouts but I also design tags, cards, mini albums, canvases and altered items as well. I like to test my creative ability and always try to improve my skills. My style is mixed media, with a little vintage and some shabby chic touches. I find lots of my inspiration in everyday life and when I scrap I feel so happy that I totally forget everything around me. I am very happy to be a guest designer in Scrapki-Wyzwaniowo. Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity! For my layout, I used papers from the 7 Dots Studio ''Hazy Days'' collection and my main paper is the ''Oil Spil''. First, I created texture by applying modeling paste through a stencil and when dried, I added colour with some sprays. I heat embossed all the chipboards I used and then I randomly rubbed a little metallique wax on them. When everything was glued down, I added some glass beads & glitter and made some splashes with white acrylic ink. I have also prepared a video tutorial where you can watch all the procedure. I hope you will enjoy it and inspire you a little bit with my work. Thank you Mary. What a gorgeous project.
