Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but there are many little things that could be causing people to perceive you as less attractive.
Paintings seemingly have infinite meanings, and the interpretation lies in the eye of the beholder. Some beholders' eyes are different than others, and what they see gives a completely new meaning. One of the people who have this special kind of eyes is Hassan Hassnaoui, who puts captions on various well-known paintings and expresses what he sees in them. It's as if these paintings were talking in modern times, through one of the most popular mediums in which contemporary couples communicate—messages. And it makes the paintings much more relatable, as sometimes it's very hard to connect to them in their original form. Immerse yourself in the wild allure of the Flow Country's wetland with this striking fauvist-inspired print, where vivid hues and bold strokes come together to capture the untamed beauty of Scottish flora. In this piece, the beholder's eye is treated to a captivating stream winding through a tapestry of lush, textured wetland grasses and florae, framed by a luminous sky. Dominated by lustrous patches of vibrant yellows, calming blues, and vivacious greens, the print leads you through an intricate dance of colour and form. The Sundew, a fascinating feature of this composition, weaves its way through the scene; its delicate tentacles gleaming, almost jewel-like, amidst the wildscape. Foreground details abound with clusters of radiant white flowers standing proudly, their long, slender stalks swaying softly, perhaps in a gentle breeze. These botanical subjects are rendered with a balance of exquisitely whimsical detailing and passionate abstraction, true to the Fauvist tradition of emphasising painterly qualities and strong colour over the representational or realistic values retained by Impressionism. The reflective surface of the meandering waterway brilliantly mirrors the sky, adding depth and dimension with dappled spots of light, hinting at the dynamic ecosystem lying beneath. Meanwhile, the stark silhouettes of distant trees punctuate the horizon, their forms simplified yet striking against the cloud-speckled sky. This print is an invitation to explore Scotland's natural majesty from the comfort of your own space, a timeless reminder of the raw, enchanting beauty nestled within its landscape. Perfect for nature enthusiasts and admirers of Fauvism alike, this piece is sure to bring a burst of life and colour to any setting.
Beauty certainly is in the eye of the beholder and nothing illustrates that truth better than My Fingerpaint Masterpiece written by Sherrill S. Cannon and illustrated by Kalpart. When a child is interrupted from a fingerpainting of his dog while at school, it is the start of a chain of events that leads one to wonder exactly how people determine what art becomes a masterpiece. On the way home, the child’s painting is blown out of his hands and lands in an art shop. It is then accidentally entered into an art contest and after the judges turn it in every direction, they decide that it is the winning entry. Disgusted with the outcome and the way that everyone is attempting to discover the deep meaning of his painting, the child tries to get everyone’s attention, but no one will believe him. Sherrill S. Cannon and Kalpart have created a delightful story that actually gets right to the heart of what I think about some of the “masterpieces” that I have seen. My Fingerpaint Masterpiece expresses a truth about abstract art that few would ever admit. Splash several different colors on a canvas and anyone who is an “official critic” with enough imagination to make it into something will determine that it is a masterpiece. The colorful interpretation of the story by the illustrator of this story far exceeds many of the “masterpieces” in the modern art world in my opinion. Funny, colorful and brilliant, My Fingerpaint Masterpiece will put a satisfied smile on your face as you consider how silly some people can be about art.
