I was asked to decorate this classroom for an Elder that is teaching the class of middle school students. You can find the material here. The teachers and students are really enjoying the study! This post is just ideas for decorating a Bible class with any FBI or Investigators theme. You can click here to purchase the material with more ideas and posters. I kept the door simple. I had cut the paper to totally cover the door, but as I began to put it together, I figured with kids, I would just be fighting to keep the background up for a year. So, I cut it down and used this. I have Duct Tape I use for my IFA classroom and used it at the top and bottom to secure the paper. (Although, I just used rolled up masking tape to attach it to the door.) Click here to download some of the misc. posters I created. For the FBI Watch List, I originally used this idea in my IFA Acts study class. I put two poster boards together and used the Duct Tape around the outside edges to make a border. You can find decorative Duct tape just about anywhere to use. This is the first quarter and will be the few things I will change each quarter. You can download (Genesis) the first quarter here. This includes the title and shield. I used rubber cement to attach the wanted people. This glue will allow me to peel them off each quarter and attach the new people. The second quarter begins with Moses. You can download the 2nd quarter wanted set here. A Creation poster comes with the visuals, which you can see below. So, I removed it for the study about Moses and added this 10 Commandments Poster. Click here to download it. The sets for the third and fourth quarter will be added as they are created for the class. I found these decorations for this wall here. I love it! A whole wall was complete once we cut it and stapled it! This room is supposed to look more like an office, than say, a room decorated for VBS. This was the only request for the room! This is on the main wall that students see when they enter the room. I left the bulletin board as a cork board since it looks more like an office. I made a large banner to go above the bulletin board with the title and color decorative masking tape for the sides. We ran out of room for all the student posters, so I stapled the teacher's poster and the decorative poster on the wall along the side of the bulletin board. You can find the yellow tape here that is along the bottom. Beside the above bulletin board, is this map that will be changed each quarter and the posters that you can purchase with the material. Click here to download some of the posters I used (including the earth symbol above). The evidence boxes are an idea I found on Pinterest. These are stacked at the end of the wall with the computer monitors. I also found the Investigator shadow here. I just enlarged that onto black bulletin board paper and added the yellow paper for the light beam. The white board is on the right of this. On the other side of the white board is this Bible investigation area. There is a Bible timeline that I placed in the corner at about eye level. There are some posters that comes with the FBI box. I also added some posters that will cover each quarter. Click here for the posters. The bookshelf holds class and office supplies. The Bibles are also here... right next to the Bible investigation corner. I found this Height Chart idea and since the item is not for sale any longer, I made one. This is right next to the door, where you typically see them. This was also used for the student's Most Wanted Posters. I just used white bulletin board paper and a ruler, but I used my Cricut machine to cut the numbers. The last photo is the general look of the room. You can see the tables lined up with cubicles attached to them to look like an office. This idea is in the FBI manual, and you can purchase it here to see more. You can find more ideas and printables here. There are posters and bulletin board printables and ideas here. You can find more investigation ideas on my Pinterest board here.

VBS 2016 A Detective Mystery This year's VBS was a hit! A mixture of old school Sherlock Holme's and seeking God's clue's in His word. We also did a musical which a friend of mine wrote just for this VBS. It was a huge success and I realized how much the kids love acting. This was a 5 day, 2 hours each day VBS. I went thru the 5 basic questions every detective must ask when given a case....Who? Where? What? Why? and How? Example of Day 1- Day #1 Who is Yeshua. (God’s son, our Saviour, miracles?) There is only one Man who has fulfilled all prophecies….Yeshua (Evidence that Demands a Verdict) (for lesson, create a “evidence board” with the labels of all the who, what, where, why, how, . Need cork board and red yarn, and point labels) Welcome- Welcome to God’s Detective Academy, where we train the most elite Truth Seeker Detectives in this day and age. You my young detectives will learn how to search God’s word for truth . And when you seek…you shall find! Things will be revealed to you that will help you understand your mission….IF YOU CHOOSE to ACCEPT. The Bible will send you on many missions in life, but you must have the accurate information. You must study your manual, take notes if need be and you will graduate from this academy at the end of the week a super sleuth for God! The Game’s Afoot!! Give Clue #1- (write down the clues in your notepad. You will have 3 a day ) I was up, then I was down and now I am up again and all around. Rules Worship: Lesson: Case #1. WHO IS YESHUA? Today we are going to talk about Yeshua/Jesus. Some say He was just a man, a teacher, a prophet. Or was He more? Son of God, Savior, Healer? Ok, dectectives, where do we start? Oh, our manual, which is the Bible. Ok, got that. Now what? Well, a good detective asks these 5 questions: Who? What? Where? Why? And How? Who Is Yeshua? Matthew 3:17 says that He is God’s Son! God spoke from heaven and said,” this is my Son in whom I am well pleased” If you are taking notes, I would write that verse down and all information we discuss. You never know when you need it during a case. The manual is SO clear. This clue wasn’t too hard to find. What did He do? Since Yeshua was the Son of God, He did a lot of amazing things. He did miracles like feeding 5000 people from 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish.(Matt 14.)And still had 12 baskets left over. He helped and healed people. They were healed from sickness, diseases, blindness and He even brought the dead to life. The most important and wonderful thing He did was die on the cross for us. Our sin equals death and separation from God. But Jesus loves us SO much that He took that death for us, and gave us a way to repent and say sorry so that we can be with God. Wow! He is amazing. I think we are on the right track, the evidence on Jesus is telling us who and what He did so far. Next….. Where is He? Hebrews 8:1 in our manual tells us. We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of theMajesty in the heavens. He is in heaven, on His throne where a King should be. But now our next question is Why? Why did He die for us? Our sin equals death and separation from God. But Jesus loves us SO much that He took that death for us, and gave us a way to repent and say sorry so that we can be with God. Because He loves us Object Lesson:(Wear Goggles and lab coat) http://www.madaboutjesus.net/nothinggoldcanstay.html How? How did Yeshua do all these things? How did He do miracles and and heal so many. I think our evidence and clues lead us right back to Who He is, which is God’s Son. He is Diety. He is King. He knows all. I think we got this mystery all figured out. Way to go detectives. We discovered who Yeshua was by following the evidence in God’s Word, every good detective’s manual. I will see you tomorrow as we unravel another mystery. Until then study your Manuals. I’m off! Mysterious Bible Verse: 1 John 3:16 “ By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. “ Puppet Skit: Clue #2 I have a cousin who is 6 months older than me. Linked to our book topic of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, I created a crime scene investigation themed lesson. I created a carousel in the classroom where the children had to look at five different pieces of evidence which could point to the possible criminal. They had to scrutinise the evidence and decide at the end which character from the novel was the criminal. Here are some images of the resources and carousel from the lesson. I created the image of footprints on the carpet by cutting out footprint shapes out of paper, lying them on the floor and the sprinkling talcum powder over them. Then I lifted off the paper to reveal what looked like footprints in the snow! The children really believed this! Here is a photo of the display I created after the lesson celebrating the children's work. From the lesson they had to write a wanted poster for the character in the story which they believed to be the criminal. On the display I included some of the evidence the children had looked at in the lesson.
A compilation of the best ideas I've seen for an awesome detective classroom theme.
