Our exhibition poster features John William Waterhouse's 1908 painting, 'Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May,' a beautiful example of Pre-Raphaelite art, blending romantic and classical styles. Inspired by the 'carpe diem' theme of Robert Herrick's poem, the painting features a young woman in a historical dress, emphasising the beauty and fleeting nature of youth with rich, symbolic details like roses and a stained glass window. This piece reflects Waterhouse’s love for combining art with literature, making it a captivating choice for anyone fascinated by Pre-Raphaelite themes.
