Good Morning Friends, Well it's been a full week since the blog tour for Keri's Christmas Wish started. I hope you've entered the Rafflecopter giveaway. If not, there's still time as the tour will last through Dec 22nd and today is featured on Marilyn Leach's blog. Enough about my book though, because today I'm happy to share with you Forbidden Colours by fellow *AHA author, Nicole Fitton. But first, Nicole is going to tell us a little about how her book came into being.... Forbidden Colours was the evolution of a question that had been rattling around in my brain. You know, those annoying questions that wake you at 4am and won’t let you rest until you’ve written something. Well, that’s how it was for me. I had read a newspaper article about the complexity of the human brain and well, it all started from there. Forbidden Colours is a gripping love story which contains elements of psychological suspense. It contains enough adrenaline fuelled drama to power the national grid! Once I had the protagonist Midori Yates firmly fixed in my mind's eye she took charge and dictated the direction of travel. I have a passion for science and being able to incorporate that into a book is very exciting. The story centres around a new drug being brought to market that does not quite do what it is supposed to…. I shall leave it at that. As I said earlier I started Forbidden Colours with a question and everything flowed from there. So, I know you want to know, what was the question? It’s a question I often ask myself but seldom has it led me in such an unusual direction…... ‘ What if?’ Blurb: What if your memories were not your memories? What if the drug hailed as a cure became a curse and ultimately your destruction? Midori Yates works for pharmaceutical giant KLD. The launch of new drug Centoria has revolutionised the treatment of amnesia, with outstanding results. Trials exploring its use in the treatment of Alzheimer’s are on the horizon. But is it really as good as the data suggests? Neurologist Dr. Nick Campbell has seen amazing results with his patients and is ready to believe in Centoria’s transformational abilities…that is until his patients start displaying strange and worrying symptoms with drastic results. Determined to uncover the truth, Midori and Nick find a conspiracy that is to have devastating consequences for both of them. A dark world threatens to engulf them. Can they survive? Snippet: Katzuko Yates eyed her daughter thoughtfully. A sense of apprehension gripped her. Those years in Japan were long ago; she wondered if she could be clear with her explanation. Even though buried, her memories continued to breathe under the mountain of life she'd lived. Dare she even speak of them? Could she speak of them? Their place of residence had become an unmarked grave in her history. Her family had a right to know, after everything that had happened. His world was dark and full of shadows; where would she begin? For over 25 years she had told no one. Now she was being drawn back into his world. It was a time she wanted to forget. The tie that had been bound to her so tightly was about to be broken. Wow...what a concept Nicole! Don't 'cha just LOVE that cover? You can purchase Forbidden Colours HERE. Now let's find out a little more about Nicole..... Nicole Fitton is an author and freelance writer who has lived in such glamorous locations as London, New York and Croydon! Today is Friday the 13th. Where did we get these superstitions about things that are seemingly natural or coincidental?
Your body wasn't designed to wake up to an alarm, OK?
Waiting.....something we can all relate to. But how do you keep the faith when waiting seems to take so much energy?! The word Patience comes to mind and of course that is followed by.... I want patience and I want it now! I told you this post would sometimes be random ramblings LOL! Seriously though...for the last 8 days my family has been waiting on some medical test results.... waiting... we were told these things take a "couple" of days. Really? How can we keep our peace and trust and faith when what should take a couple or few drags into 7 or 8 or more? The bible tells us that "now" faith is.... One way to cultivate patience is to stay focused in the "now." I know, I know....easier said than done but try! Every time your mind wanders into the 'what if' or 'when' or past or future...take a deep breath and gently pull your thoughts back into the present moment and while you're at it say a quick prayer or affirmation. Can't say this solves all problems -- yet. But it sure helps with the waiting! Something to think about! "Inspirational with an Edge! ™
Good Afternoon! Well it's been a busy morning for me (nothing unusual right?). It's also been a while since I shared with you something I treasure. But before I do, Authors Helping Authors a promo group I belong to (actually I belong to 2 of these of the same name -- like I need something else to confuse me LOL!--anyway, one is differentiated from the other by the acronym MYAHA) this other group is the one through which we do different blog hops.... Y'know the Eggcerpt Exchange, Rocking Summer Romance, etc... Well we are embarking on Spring Fling Romance blog exchange/hop. So watch for the hashtag (#SpringFlingRomance) and this graphic to discover some great authors and books in the coming weeks. Okay....now to something I treasure.... I've never been a big history buff but I do enjoy visiting historical places. This past weekend, a special friend and I visited my home away from home, Bandera, TX and toured a historic church I'd like to share with you. St. Stanislaus was constructed in 1855 and, if I remember correctly, is listed as the oldest Polish Catholic Church in the Texas and the 2nd oldest Catholic Church in the US. This church is decorated with stained glass windows and wall murals the like of which I've not seen. The area behind the altar is absolutely gorgeous! Upon entering the sacred building we were given a spiral binder with descriptions of every stained glass window and mural as well as the history of the church and the saint after which it is named. As it was Easter weekend, the Blessed Sacrament (Eucharist) was exposed and set out for adoration. Absolutely lovely! While walking through the building I could actually feel God's Holy Presence within the walls and it reminded me of a conversation between Katrina Simmons and Scott Hensley (the h/h in Tempered Dreams) as they toured the St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans, LA and how true those words are.... “God is in this place. Don’t you feel Him?” Scott smiled tenderly, and nodded. He chose his words with care. “There’s no doubt the Holy Spirit of God dwells in special places of worship. Some more than others. But Trina, His desire is to dwell in here.” He touched her heart. “Take what you feel in this place and carry it with you, knowing God is within. That’s when you’ll find your greatest peace, your greatest strength. The Bible says I will never leave you nor forsake you. Jesus said, ‘The Kingdom of God is within you.’ More than anything God wants to live in our hearts and minds. He wants us to know He’s there, to trust in that and to believe in His presence from the deepest part of our hearts and souls. Then and only then will you experience the kingdom of God on earth.” This is definitely one trip and a piece of history I'll treasure forever. If you ever get a chance to visit Bandera, Texas make sure you take time out of your vacation to visit St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, a piece of history we, Catholic and non-Catholics alike should All treasure. And it goes without saying you should visit the Silver Spur Guest Ranch too! **NOTE:** photos borrowed from Church's website** Tempered Dreams can be purchased at the following places in formats mentioned.... Stay tuned for more great Thursday Thoughts and Saturday Spotlights. Until later take care, God Bless and remember.... It is important to not only remember who we are but Whose we are and where we came from! Something to think about..... Pamela S Thibodeaux "Inspirational with an Edge" ™
For an enclave of communities in western Mississippi, rich cultural roots don't always translate to prosperity. The history is storied, the times are tough, and life goes on.
Brandon Thibodeaux spent eight years living with and photographing a number of families in the northern Mississippi delta, capturing their lives as they worked, played, attended church and provided for their children
