Wylder’s world is full of wonder. Each day is a chance to meet a new forest friend, each night a chance to wish upon a star. His father, Thor, works hard to make sure the two of them live happily in the forest. This is a quiet tale of the bond between a boy and his father, that invites you to slow down and reflect with it. An ode to wonder and the wild, and a story of love and loss, but, above all, a celebration of gentleness, sensitivity, compassion and connection: to nature, to one another, and to our fellow creatures. Wylder is the latest in Maia’s series of wordless picture books. *For orders of over 8 books in my shop, please get in touch to arrange correct shipping prices and options. There is a strange beauty at the heart of every mystery, and the mystery of the Carolina Bays is an enigma that is lushly, uniquely beautiful. How did these odd geomorphological features come to be formed in the landscape in the first place, with their uniform shapes and matching elliptical orientations scattered across the Carolinas? There are many hypotheses but no definitive answers. Why are these inland phenomena even called "bays?" There is no clear answer to that either. The best definition of these features are "temporary, isolated freshwater wetlands," variously described as "high or flatwater ponds, wet weather lakes, or vernal pools," often identified more accurately as "pocosins," and they are ecological wonders, full of all manner of amphibians and reptiles, insects and birds, wildlife and plants—many of them exotic and rare. What also defines them is their uncommon beauty. Featuring more than one hundred-fifty color images, Carolina Bays takes you from an aerial perspective of these unusual bays to an on-the-ground safari, from frogs that croak and bark and boom to skinks that skim across the water as if on skis, and on to squawking herons to black-and-yellow polka-dotted caterpillars. There are growling alligators and four hundred-year-old trees and delicate yellow-fringed orchids. Life is found in astounding abundance. These wetlands are unique and almost immeasurably ancient; as is to be expected in the modern world, they are threatened by human intervention. Such diverse habitats and their rich, unmatched biodiversity call out for preservation and restoration. The bays are not only visited and documented by the authors; they make an impassioned case for respecting how important these singular formations are for the health of the planet. When we go for a walk, whether in the countryside or city, we pass through landscapes full of natural beauty and curiosities both visible and invisible - but though we might admire the view, or wonder idly about the name of a flower, we rarely have the knowledge to fully engage with what we see. When we do, our sense of place is expanded, our understanding deepened and we can discover richness in even the most everyday stroll.John Wright has been leading forays around Britain for decades. As an expert forager, he shows people how to identify the edible species that abound - but he also reveals the natural history, stories and science behind our surroundings. Here, he takes us with him on eight walks: from verdant forests to wild coastlines, via city pavements, fields and rolling hills, he illuminates what can be found on a walk across any British terrain, and how you might observe and truly understand them, for yourself.Warm, wise and endlessly informative, with helpful illustrations and suggested routes, this book will help you to see the world around you with new eyes: no walk will be the same again.

The book is in good vintage condition (with a slight tear on the spine) and is full of fab adventure stories.
We absolutely love every single surreal photographer/artist that we write about, but much of their work tends to be rather melancholy or down-right dark. Not so with German art director Robert Jahns (a.k.a. Nois7 on Instagram), whose beautiful and adventurous images will inspire you and brighten your day. His images are surreal, but many of them are only subtly dream-like or unreal – it all looks like a normal photograph until you spot that one mystical detail that takes his image into the realm of fantasy.
