Thomas the train cakes are so cool! I loved making this boy cake for Mr. Khalil who turned 3rd the other day. He is so full of life, wonder & happiness that it is almost contagious! Cheers to many more birthdays, watching you grow & eat cake for years to come! Vanilla cake, vanilla buttercream icing, fondant decorations & toy trains oh my! :)
My friends Heather and Morgan had the most fabulous Pirate Party for their son Levi's 3rd Birthday. Everything looked so incredible I just had to share!!! They served corn dogs, sandwiches, fruit, veggie dogs, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and renamed them all with a pirate theme! Captain Levi's Corny Dogs! When you walked in they took a polaroid picture of you with a big Pirate! This was attached to your goody bag! Here's Heather posing. Here are all the goody bags hanging on a clothes line! They had a jumpy with a basketball hoop and a slide on the side! Landon was loving it! The Cake was to die for! A treasure chest that was completely edible and delicious!!!! Levi had a great day!!!
Brandon's mom dropped me an email a month ago and commissioned me to make her son a Thomas the Tank Engine cake. Although it was meant for an intimate party, but she wanted it to look awesomely grand, and told me to go all out with the design and decorations. i like it when i get requests like that ; ) PS: picture intensive post! So i made 3 of Brandon's favorite trains out of sugar, and designed it to look like a scene from the popular cartoon series; with trees, bushes, flower, bridges and rivers and hills. it was time consuming, but i think totally worth the effort. The bridge was made out of rice krispies and covered with fondant without dirty icing with ganache, cos i figured that will be the only way for it to hold up the weight of Thomas atop. Cake was red velvet with oreos filling.

The day after Thanksgiving my little boy turned two. He is obsessed with all things Thomas the Tank Engine. So it didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the party would have a Thomas theme. I ordered the invitations from Etsy. I love the fact that they look like train tickets. The color scheme was mainly royal blue, red and white with a few touches of kelly green thrown in for good measure. I found this large Thomas the Tank Engine balloon at our local party store and it's still afloat nearly a month and a half later. The menu consisted of Gordon's Goldfish, Branch Lines (pretzel sticks), Brendham Buffalo Chicken Dip, Suddery Spinach Dip, Coal Pops (Oreo pops), Mighty Mac's M&Ms and Tidmouth Tidbits (vegetable tray). Sodor Water (bottled water) and Diesel Fuel (juice boxes) were the drinks. The centerpiece of the food table had to be the Thomas the Tank Engine cake I got from Publix. The cake was made in the shape of Thomas and included a two episode DVD. I purchased brown craft bags from Michael's and adorned them with blue and red ribbons and a label I made. The bags held a small wooden train, a train wooden puzzle, bubbles, crayons, small coloring sheets I found online and Tootsie Rolls. The wooden train and puzzle came from Target's Dollar Spot.
