This resource contains plans for the Read Aloud Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet by Diane de Groat. This fun read aloud is perfect for the month of October. The plans are notes for the teacher to refer to as you are reading the book. The notes are on squares that can be cut and pasted onto Post-It notes. When placed in the book on the designated pages, your Read Aloud is prepped and ready to go! Each Post-It square contains either a Think Aloud prompt or Question with an Example Student Response to help guide you in your read aloud. You can use as many or as few as you would like. The last Post-It is intended to be blank for you to add in any other teaching ideas. The questions can also be used as a formative assessment and are centered around:CharactersCharacter RelationshipsCharacter MotivationCharacter Change🛑 Are you a member of the TLL Membership? Your students will LOVE this sight words card game! Great for Word Work/Literacy Centers, RTI/Intervention, Guided Reading/Small Groups and more! Please see the Preview file for more information. Trick or Treat - Smell My Feet, is a fun game where each card features a trick or treater and a sight word. All 220 Dolch sight words are included. You can use all of the cards mixed together or separate the cards to focus on one or more levels (Pre-Primer, Primer, First Grade, Second Grade, Third Grade). In addition to the sight word/trick or treater cards there are "Smell My Feet" cards that your students will NOT want to get :) To play, place the cards in a bucket or container. Tell students to look away as they draw a card (so they do not see the card they are pulling out). Students will take turns drawing and reading a card. If they read the card correctly, they get to keep it. If not, they put it back into the bucket. If they draw a “Smell My Feet” card, they have to smell the feet and then put ALL of their cards back into the bucket. The student with the most cards at the end of the game is the winner. Who has eaten way. too. much candy this week?? That would be me! Haven't even been trick or treating but I did take a trip down the candy isle while grocery shopping and those darn pumpkin spice hershey kisses just happened to find there way in my cart. I am a sucker for everything pumpkin spice flavored! Since I have no kids and won't be going trick or treating next Wednesday, here is a cute little craftivity that plays off of the 'trick or treat' saying. I found this super cute idea over at Doodlebugs Teaching and added a writing portion to go with it. I'm going to have the kids write 4 clues about themself: 1. Are they a boy or girl. 2. What color hair they have. 3. Something they like to do. 4. A favorite of theirs. They will illustrate what they look like and then cover their picture with a 'sheet' to make thier diguise as a ghost! Click on the picture below to download the question printable. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- We've been studying all about spiders this week. Here's a peek at what our learning looks like. We recorded our learning on a KWL chart. We put alot of what we learned into a spider booklet. We wrote spider facts. Drew a diagram of a spider and labeled it. And wrote an acrostic poem using words that describe spiders. We also put what we knew about spiders into a spiders can/have/are chart. We used the organizer to create a friendly spider art activity and sandwich poem! Click on the picture below to download the organizer. Tomorrow is FRIDAY and storybook character day at my school. Can't wait to see just how cute my kiddos look!

I often talk about hands-on activities... this week we're going for a feet-on project instead! Going through some old photos, I found this cute art and writing activity, which is super fun for a classbook or a bulletin board. We used Halloween colored paper and helped each child make a white ghosty footprint on it. While the footprint dried, each child simply wrote one thing they'd like to eat. When everything was dry, the kiddos added ghostly details and glued it all together. Happy Halloween!
Okay...sometimes I get the mood to design....and then I do...and do and do and dodododododod. So today I've got over 15 fun halloween printables for you! I made most black and white so you can

Hello friends! I've been very much into very simple stationery-like one layer cards lately. For some reason I no longer have the desire to add a bunch of layers, use a ton of foam adhesive and make my cards dimensional. I'm sure it's just a phase and will soon pass, but I have to say
