The child in bathing suit with his beach pail and shovel "West" was created as part of the "Children of the World" (All världens barn) series in 1974. The series was made for the benefit of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). These pieces were designed by Lisa Larsson (born 1931), a Swedish ceramicist and designer. Children of the World (1974–75) is one of her best know works. Hand crafted in a ceramics studio in Gustavsberg Sweden. This piece has been treated very gently and is in excellent condition. It has stamps on the base "Gustavsberg Sweden", and "Lisa L", it also is includes the signature "M" for the artist who painted the figure.
