Most of you have probably heard of Pyotr Tchaikovsky, or at least heard his music. Whether in its original classical form or a more modern version, Tchaikovsky’s music is heard in concert halls and movies. His ballets are still danced and known world-wide. I have been privileged to play several of his compositions in my orchestra …

Get the files for the parts of the body resource for teaching Elementary English Language Learners at my TPT store: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Body-Theme-for-Elementary-ELL-1836555 Watch the video of the resource: The resource is also available here: https://www.bilingualmarketplace.com/products/body-theme-for-elementary-ell?variant=37172657979556 Emotion, play and surprising activities are the secret ingredients to learning. This resource is help students describe the parts of the body and to describe people, family members and later on even animals. Body unit draw book: Let them recognize that everybody in class is different. Have the students draw their bodies as they read the sentences. The grammar points are: possessive adjectives (This is my face) and demostratives (These are my legs) Watch the video of the printable book: To learn Body Words Board Activity 1: Draw several shapes as torsos on the board . Have children come up to the complete the body. Teacher: karla and Paul, draw the head. Continue with more body parts until the drawing is complete. Go over all the body parts and label them. Then, have children draw themselves with their complete bodies and label all their body parts. Board Activity 2: Divide the class in several teams. Have a student from each team go to the board. Say a body vocabulary word and have the students write it on the board as fast as they can. Give a point to each team that does it correctly. Continue with more words. Children can count with their fingers. I printed onto cardboard a right and left hand. Then I glued all the numbers onto clothespin. Students have to number all the fingers in the hand. Adjectives Left and right related to the body: teach directionality during this unit. Have students hold both hands in front of themselves. Use the hands and arrows available for this purpose. You can make them smaller and paste the hands on their tables to remind them of left and right. Have students say right hand and show it to you. Do the same with left hand. Pocket charts help children manipulate language in a special way. This time I included the adjectives Big and small as a sorting body part activity. if you don´t have a pocket chart do it on a file folder, on the table or the board. Or make puppets with the cutouts and make big and small body parts patterns. Another version, using complete sentences or making sentences. Make words: print letters onto different colored paper or construction paper. Give students the letters to make body parts words as in a crossword. Spelling: approach spelling as problem solving instead of a memorization activity. Teach spelling strategies and skills. Here are some ideas. Task cards: motivate students with these cards instead of a regular worksheet. Students will have to deal with one question at a time instead of a whole page in front of him/her. I create the task cards with all the grammar points in mind and you can use the ones that suit your class. Use them to review before tests. Students can work individually or in pairs. Save paper by printing and laminating the set. Students write on their notebooks. Worksheet: there is no perfect worksheet, but make changes to make it work. After I did the worksheet as in the instructions I cut everything out and created a label all activity by labelling the body parts and then the colors. Body Unit Domino game benefits group learning experiences and reinforcement of the new language. Body half game: print as many as you need. Give one half card to each child and have them walk around finding their other match and stand together. They can ask questions: Do you have the arm ? Make it a speaking activity. Tracing helps with : - Eye-hand development and use of the writing tools: pencils, crayons, markers, etc - fine motor skills - Develops the awareness of key concepts of print in the new language, even more when the language alphabet is completely different - teaches directionality about the ley movements for letter and word formation - The result is a neat worksheet or card that makes the child like independent handwriting that has been lost for the excessive use of technology. Students can show the card and say: This is an eye. s Picture and word matching: this kind of activity help develop the word recognition skill necessary to reading. Students can see very letter in each word in his own work area instead of looking at it on the board that several meters away from him/her. Children need to focus on recognizing words readily to move on to meaning. There is a bundle for the body unit at the store. So I promised myself I'd start blogging, so here we go! :) I'm all about technology, so my goal is to share at least one technology resource every week, but hopefully I'll get better about blogging and I can share more than one a week! Write About It Wednesday: Class Dojo & Custom Planners Edition Do you use Class Dojo? Have you ever tried it? If not, you NEED Class Dojo in your life! It's such an amazing tool! I found it a few years ago when it had the basic function of tracking behavior, but it's become so much more and it's growing even more this month! So what can you do with Class Dojo? So much!! Track Behavior: You can award positive, negative, and neutral points/warnings to students for all kinds of activities. You get to choose what activities deserve to receive positive and negative points. They can have a point value of anywhere from -5 through +5 including 0 which could be used as a warning. You can allow parents to see positive points, no points, or all points. Parent Communication: You can post announcements and reminders to all parents. This helps eliminate the old fashioned newsletter! Or you can still post your newsletter to the wall as well. You can also communicate one-on-one with parents, just like you would with a text. You can also share photos and videos with parents on the whole class stories, or individually. Toolbox: All of those tools we all love are in one place with Dojo. There is a timer, random student picker, group maker, noise meter, music, and 3 places to help post directions or questions including directions, think-pair-share, and today. These are all great places to get students more independent or following directions. All of these tools are available at all times. That's NOT it either! Do you talk about Growth Mindset with your students? Class Dojo has the most adorable videos to help students understand Growth Mindset and Mojo (see that adorable green guy up there, yup that's Mojo) is the star with all of his friends. They're short videos that help students understand what Growth Mindset is. The coolest new feature coming later this month is the Portfolios. Students will each have their own portfolio. They will be able to share their learning using photos, videos, drawing, journal entries, and more. Teachers will be able to approve and give feedback on things that the students post. Then parents will be able to view and comment on the things their own children post. The objects they post will be able to be organized into folders as well. There are so many other cool features, but these are the main ones. The best part of all of it is honestly their support staff. They are extremely aware of privacy concerns, and they'll always help out if a district or administration has concerns about privacy. Overall, it's a great piece of technology that combines so many aspects from other technology tools that are out there. It's nice to have everything in one place! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Have you ever heard of a Happy Planner? Apparently it's all the rage with... everyone? I see them everywhere I go. Even Target has them! This is a Happy Planner: I've always been an Erin Condren planner user. There's probably a post on this blog from years ago about how much I love the planner. The problem is, I hate writing in my plans. I feel like I'm doing twice the work. Insert, my own planner with the help of the Happy Planner punch and discs! By creating my own planner, I can type my own lesson plans, but still have the cute part of the Happy Planner. I am just finishing it, but I feel like I need more pages than just calendars and a checklist?!? What other pages do I put in it? I could sit here for days wondering (Note: I've already redone the colors, stickers, and overall theme of it 4 times. I'm pretty sure the mister is sick of my complaining about it!)

Teaching dystopia can be daunting. Our free lesson plan at StoryboardThat makes it easy, with examples of dystopian literature and activities for students!
This thesis empirically assessed how duty schedule variance and overtime affect the job satisfaction and turnover intentions of USAF F-16 crew chiefs. A survey was completed by 346 active duty USAF F-16 crew chiefs regarding their perceptions of duty schedule variance, overtime, job satisfaction and intent to leave the Air Force. Theory suggests that turnover behavior is a multistage process that involves organizational, individual, and attitudinal components. Using multivariate correlation and regression analyses, plausible evidence was found to support the idea that duty schedule variance and overtime plays a role in USAF F-16 crew chief turnover intentions via job satisfaction. Additional evidence supported the theory that these path relationships changed in strength for demographic sub-categories based on age, but not for education, length of service, marital status or number of dependents.
