Hello my dear friends, we are still having quite a few hot days here in Southwestern Ontario, so it is nice that I am busy working on a few "cooler" things right now. For once I am actually ahead of myself when it comes to creating. I have already made the gift for my "Christmas To Come" 2017 giveaway and all I have to do with it, is wrap it up and wait until mid November and then mail it to the winner. I have also just finished an order for one of my last years Winter pumpkins and I am happy to say that my customer is as happy with it as am I. I thought it would be nice to share it with all of you before it went on the journey to it's new home. And this is my Winter pumpkin. I still love how magical these pumpkins look. I think my favorite thing about them is that Mr. Frost had stopped by and given them a kiss and now they sparkle so lovely. I can't tell you how much joy I am getting from being creative again. I might not be coming up with lots of new ideas right now but I am grateful for the ones I am having. Whilst I was busy working on this pumpkin, I decided that I really wanted to make one for this year. A little different from the last one and that is exactly what I did. I am not going to share it just yet though, maybe when it gets a little closer to the cold months. My next project is a large pumpkin made from rust colored velvet I think. It came to my mind after I found an old cake slicer with a larger handle whilst organizing my garage sale stuff. I am hoping I will be having it this Saturday, weather permitting. Please, keep your fingers crossed that it won't rain again here. I will try and take a few photos if I don't forget if it happens and share them soon. Thank you for visiting me here today at Todolwen. It is always so nice when you do. I hope you are well my dear friends and that life is treating you kind. Have a peaceful and creative day.

Hello my dear friends, this is my first white pumpkin and also my first pumpkin that I have created from a vintage chenille bed spread that I had hiding away in the darkest corner of my linen closet. I am so happy I decided to make it because I think it has turned out very lovely! It is somewhat the same as my other pumpkins that I have made apart from it's stuffing. This one isn't filled with crushed walnut shells but with a cup of poly pellets to weigh it down a little and fibrefill. I also didn't make this pumpkin as a pincushion in mind but as a decoration piece. As the stem I again used an old tarnished teaspoon handle. A few of my velvet leaves, a small piece of sparkle and a larger bow made from crinkled seam binding in the color 'como beige' were a must for this little white Autumn fruit. All of these different bits and pieces made this creation what it is in my eyes ... beautiful! Looking at this little soft pumpkin, I think I am going to have to make another one or two of them soon because I sure do love the way it's look. This one is already spoken for. Thank you for stopping by to visit me here at Todolwen today. It is always so nice when you do. I hope you are well my dear friends and life is treating you kind. Have a peaceful and creative day.

Happy Sunday everyone! I have spent the last few days relaxing after a super busy month! I haven't decorated or crafted nearly as much as I had desired, but with my only child leaving the nest this month with all that involves and taking on a new student after work--I'm trying to adjust to a new schedule and wonderful new season of life. Here are a few vignettes I threw together to celebrate this gorgeous season: The lidless tureen is mid to late 1800s, purchased for a song at an antiques dealers' yard sale. The handleless cup and saucer is also mid 1800s. The style was adopted from Asia, and the British would pour their tea into the saucer to cool before drinking it. The custom was called "saucering" and persisted until handles were added to cups. My Appalachian mamaw would constantly scold my papaw for keeping this tradition even though their 1950s cups had handles! I mixed some very old vintage folding rulers in with the fall foliage. And I had to display this wonderful appreciation gift cup: Nearby is the velvet pumpkin I made from a thrift shop shirt and adorned with a leaf pin from the vintage market: Below is the overall view--sort of. It really looks so much better in person. Dear son, who is an excellent photographer, keeps reminding me that the camera lens is not a human eye. (While slightly annoying, there's something reassuring to me about man's not being able to replicate what God has created!) I found many great posts this week at the blog party, and I trust you did as well. I have a picture wall, but it looks no where as put together as Julie's at Creating this Life. So I am going to play "copy cat" and spray all my frames black. What a great way to update those outdated frames we all have or can pick up cheaply at thrift shops! Love this! And next on my list of things to make, like today, is Jann's "Give Thanks" banner! I am SO excited about this idea! I can see chalkboard style labels, memorabilia from trips, map pieces, endless possibilities for every holiday. And the really nice thing is that storing is so much easier than with most banners as you can just unclip the top pieces and reuse the base for another season. I will share my banner(s) in a future post. If all this craftiness has worn you out, you might sip a cup of pumpkin spiced coffee or tea and browse Brittany's wonderful post on the Ludwigsburg pumpkin festival. What interesting history and culture and beautiful scenery she has captured for us. And finally, as many of us are looking ahead to Christmas already, let us not pass up the beauty that autumn provides. Debby Ray calls it "the color of God's love" in her inspirational post, perfect for a Sunday afternoon: Now let's see what you are doing this busy week! If you join the blog party, please link back to my blog and please become a follower. A huge thanks to all of you who link up each week! Laura
Hello my dear friends, I have recently harvested" my newest pumpkins that I would love to share with all of you today! I had made some last year using my favorite drop cloth. Those pumpkins were a little elegant with vintage sparkles with leaves made from sari silk and the stems made from a tarnished and old piece of cutlery. Each one was embellished with a piece of sparkle and some old lace and looked ever so lovely in my eyes. And these are those pumpkins ... This year's pumpkin are a little different. This time I choose to work with some very lovely fabrics that my daughter Caylagh had seen in a fabric store I like to visit. She had picked three different types of fabric in very nice shades of orange and they were just beyond perfect be made into pumpkins. Overall though I stayed with the design of my last year's pumpkins. A stalk made from an old cutlery handle and of course seam binding, sari silk ribbon and vintage lace were a must as well. The final touch for the Autumn fruit came in the shape of vintage crystals for two and an old key for one of them. My newest pumpkins are all ready for the season of Fall. And here are my newest pumpkins ... ... "Autumn Trio". I think they might live on the bank of drawers ... ... in our living room for a little while, I am not sure just yet. I am still keep busy working on a few more Fall decorating pieces but I am also thinking of maybe making a set of my "Autumn Trio" if I get around to it for my Etsy shop. If you are wanting a set, you can contact me direct via email or my Etsy shop for a custom order. Just drop me a line for more information. It is so nice that you decided to drop by today and visit me here at Todolwen. It is always so nice when you do. I hope you are my dear friends and life is treating you kind. Have a peaceful and creative day.
