The word manifesto itself is actually derived from the Latin word manifestum, which means to be made clear, or visible. So what does a manifesto have to do with spirituality? I mean, usually manifesto's are put out by governments, groups, […]

The Amish Midwife's Secret (Love and Promises Book 2) An Amish midwife and an Englisch doctor must embrace their differences to rescue a baby in need in this uplifting romance that will "capture your heart and leave you smiling" (Amy Lillard). Kyle Miller never planned on becoming a country doctor. But when he's offered a medical practice in his sleepy hometown, Kyle knows he must return... and face the painful past he left behind. Except the Amish community isn't quite ready for Kyle. Especially the pretty midwife who refuses to compromise her traditions with his modern medicine... The more Leah Stoltzfus works with the handsome Englisch doctor, the more she finds herself caught between the expectations of her family and her own hopes for the future. It will take one surprising revelation and one helpless baby in need of love to show Leah and Kyle that their bond may be greater than their differences... if Leah can find the courage to follow her heart. My thoughts: Rachel J. Good takes you right in the heart of the Amish community in The Amish Midwife's Secret and you'll feel like you are in their midst. The descriptions will draw you in and you will feel like you in the store, the doctors office and home, and you'll hear buggy's trotting down the road. As I settled in, I became entwined in their lives and with strong deep characters, I wanted to know more about everyone of them. I especially love Leah, who is finding what matters most in her life. She struggles with finding a balance between her personal life and her hopes to become a midwife. Kyle came in close behind with many different obstacles in his life as well. Reading about their lives, you'll come to realize that despite our differences in the way we live, the Amish have many of the same trails that we do. I'm reminded with God, forgiveness is always possible. A Great read! I was given a copy of this book by the author but I was not required to post a positive review. I do not have a date for this magazine other than Holiday 1992. Artist is Theresa Borelli The text reads " Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without the Nutcraker, and this year Ballerina Bethany is dancing the lead role. Mom and dad are so proud, they had a toy design a wooden Nutcracker, a stuffed mouse king and a porcelain doll of the Chinese and Spanish Dancer to present to Bethany opening night. Oh how surprised she will be!"
Good Morning Everyone I can't quite believe it's Thursday already - this week is flying by! We have had a glorious week here in Huddersfield so far but today we are heading over to Bolton Abbey for a day of woodland walks, visiting the Abbey and of course, some play time down by the river. As it's Thursday, we have our 3D Thursday Share and I'm really chuffed with the box I created today. My Friend absolutely loves Chocolate, and her fave is any chocolate with nuts in, so when I can across these I knew I needed to get them and make something pretty to gift them in. These bars are 100g size, which I don't seem to see much around here - mainly just the mini's for some reason!! This box measure 3 3/4" x 3 3/4" x 1 1/2", so you could use this to gift all sorts of goodies. Measurements Sweet Sorbet Card Stock 1pc - 12" x 6 3/4" 1pc - scrap Hues of Happiness DSP 1pc - 3 5/8" x 3 5/8" 4pc - 1 3/8" x 3 5/8" ---------------------------------- Take the Sweet Sorbet Card Stock and score as follows:- Long Side - 1 1/2", 5 1/4", 6 3/4" & 10 1/2" Short Side - 1 1/2" & 5 1/4" Fold and burnish all the score lines and the holding the card horizontally and make all the square sections into tabs. Cut up straight against the rectangles edge, then notch into the square slightly. You will be left with a piece of Cardstock like this. Then add the DSP to what will become the lid. So chose your side then add the larger pieces of DSP to the centre square and place the thinner DSP strips around it. Pop Tear and tape onto all of the square tabs, then fold in the 4 tabs around the blank square to create the base, then the 2 which are surrounded by DSP in to create the lid. On a scrap of Basic White card stock stamp the sentiment from Happiness Abounds in Sweet Sorbet ink and then cut out using the smooth oval from the Double Oval Punch. Also cut of a scallop oval in Sweet Sorbet / Layer these two together and add to the top of box. I hope you have enjoyed my project, Please do pop on over to see what Karen has made - Donna is taking a week off this week, but will be back with us on the Next One. Good Afternoon Everyone, I'm using the Enduring Beauty bundle again - I just cannot put it down! But today I'm showing you a really great technique to create a subtle background 'DSP' with the stamp set and a set of blends. Measurements Thick Basic White Card Stock 1pc - 4 1/8" x 3 7/8" Basic White Card Stock 1pc - 5 3/8" x 3 3/4" scraps Basic Black Card Stock 1pc - 3 7/8" x 5 5/8" ----------------------------------------- Take the thick basic card stock and fold along the score line to create your card base. Add the basic black mat to the card front. On the thinner basic white piece stamp the larger floral image from Enduring Beauty in Smoky slate to cover the whole piece. Once dry colour it all in with your Smoky Slate Blends. I simply coloured the flowers and leaves in the light and used the darker one to colour in all the background. This creates a really interesting but subtle background DSP if you like. I think using this principle you could do it with lots of different colours to get a variety of finishes, perfect for any occasion. Add this to the card front, on top of the Basic Black panel. On a scrap of basic white stamp the floral image again, but this time using memento ink. Colour in with a selection of Stampin Blends. Once finished cut out using the coordinating die. Stamp the sentiment onto another scrap on cit out using the stitched label from the same die set. Arrange both of these on the card front and stick down with dimensionals. I don't think it's unusual for artists to feel anxious when they begin a painting. As Ann K. Lindsay , my teacher and mentor expressed it:...
Good Afternoon Everyone, This week in the Stampin Birds Team Group our challenge is to CASE a Stampin Up Demo. Now there are soooo many to chose from for me as I get so much inspiration from a variety of different Demonstrators throughout the World, but I did find myslef heading todays the Bertucci's. I love the style and simplicity of the projects, but they always look super stunning and WOW. Today's card is no exception. This is a further development of the Scrappy Strip Technique - which is a firm favourite of mine. And actually this Mosaic style addtion was original done by Linda Driggs - so I'm technically CASEing Kylie, CASEing Linda! If you are unfamiliar with the Scrappy Strip Technique - it's really simple cut scrap strips of cardstock so it has a straight edge and a diagonal edge then piece together onto your card and it makes the most fabulous background. This next step means slicing that panel you made and creating smaller pieces so it looks like tiny pieces of cardstock on the card. This is the card I created.... And this is the card I saw Kylie make..... Measurements Basic Black card Stock 1pc - 4 1/8" x 11 3/4", scored at 5 7/8" 1pc - 3 5/8" x 5 3/8" 1pc - 4 1/4" x 5 3/4" scraps Basic White Card Stock 1pc - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8" plus Strips of Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Pacific Point and Pumpkin Pie ------------------------ With the larger piece of basic black card stock, fold along the score line to create your card base. Add the basic white panel to the inside. Take a selection of strips of card stock and cut then diagonally to create two pieces which have one straigh edge and one diagonal line, but don't cut to a point. You want your pieces to narrow towards one edge but not to a point as that would make that side too skinny. Add these to the larger piece of basic black that is left alternating the pieces and lining them up so they have a thin black line between them. trim the bits that overhang so its flush with the base. Make sure you add plenty of glue to all the card stock. Once the glue has dried cut this panel into thin strips. I did them approx 1/2" but you can do whatever size you prefer - or a mix of widths. Now, take these pieces and add the the last piece of basic black card stock. ensuring that a small gap is left in between them. this gives the effect of the small indivial mosaic pieces. Now I chose to keep my colours in a straighter line, horizontally, but as you can see from Kylie's she has moved the strips up and down to mix the colours so they look a lot more random. Trim down any overhanging pieces. On a scrap of basic black stamp Hello and Friend from the Biggest Wish stamp set in versamark ink, then sprinkle with the white embossing powder, tap off the excess and heat set with your heat tool. Once cooled, fussy cut, add black dimensionals to the back and add to the centre of the card front. Here's a list of the supplies I used in today's card.
