This adorable large vintage print is from "Mabel Lucie Attwell” by Chris Beetles published in 1988. It measures 21cm x 29cm (8¼in x 11½in); has text on the reverse and is signed in the plate. It will add charm to baby’s nursery or child’s room and also makes a unique gift for loved ones, baby showers, and new baby occasions. Mabel Lucie Attwell (1879-1964) was one of Britain's best loved illustrators of children's books. Her illustrations of big-eyed bouncing babies have been favourites for over 70 years. She was known for her cute, nostalgic drawings of children, based on her daughter, Peggy. Her drawings are featured on many postcards, advertisements, posters, books and figurines. Our prints are shipped in protective plastic sleeves and in flat cardboard envelopes to ensure they arrive safely. We will ship ANY number of prints in one package - you pay one shipping fee only!

INSIDE GREETING: A Great Big Kiss on Your Birthday! The original 1939 Mabel Lucie Attwell postcard with this image proclaimed "Larf I must — If I Bust!" Alongside her signature happy children, Attwell often added a playful touch with misspelled titles and captions, creating an authentic childlike essence. This is one of our most popular birthday cards and images in general! Mabel Lucie Attwell (1879-1964) is celebrated for her endearing illustrations of cute and cuddly children, which found their home in children's stories, fairy tales, and nursery rhymes. Notably, The Boo Boos, chubby fairies introduced in 1921, became beloved characters. Attwell's commercial prowess flourished, with her delightful portrayals gracing children's books, postcards, ads, figurines, and even tea sets! Like many wildly successful commercial artists, she enjoyed immense popularity with general audiences, but her work often faced skepticism from art critics of her time. Nevertheless, Attwell's legacy is deeply ingrained in the hearts of those who continue to find joy in her endearing illustrations that radiate the essence of childhood. Black cats are everywhere and it's not even Halloween! Well, I might be exaggerating a bit. You probably know that my sweet Kitty is a black cat. We also have a stray black cat that's been hanging around for several months now. It looks just like Kitty, at least from a distance. I haven't been able to get very close, it's very skittish - don't even know if it's a boy or a girl. I'm beginning to feel like I need to feed it. I've resisted so far, didn't think it would stay. But it's just like Kitty in another way: Kitty was a stray and would not leave. That was 13 years ago. I'm sure my husband is thinking "Oh, no!" (Although lately, I've caught him acting like he rather likes Kitty. Maybe it's just familiarity?) Often when I find Agnes Richardson postcards with black cats, they often say something about good luck. I was surprised to discover that in England, black cats are considered good luck! Isn't this just the cutest, sweetest image? You can download the image HERE. Or click on the image above. This is actually an embellished string envelope and I've made a tag that will fit inside. The tag is cut with a digital download set from Stampin' Up called Cool Like That. I need to dress Kitty with a big orange bow - although it wouldn't take him two seconds to get if off. (Yes, Kitty is a boy - terrible name, I know.) So glad you stopped by!
There's just something about vintage children's books that brighten my day. The innocence of the children in the drawings and the bright colors used in the books make me smile. Here are a few of
