i am not here today, i am over here, hanging things in clusters in my shop window. how nice, clusters throughout the day. i am thinking if one saw every day in clusters it would make things quite nice. i'll do a cluster of laundry and then craft, another cluster of feeding the clan, then craft and so forth... yes i do like myself a cluster or two she has rediscovered her love of paddington bear pyjamas now winter is upon her, and thinks a cluster of pj's in flannel would be grand too ~ Tif

Even when you've heard of it, seen pictures, and already know it's going to be great, there's really no way to be prepared for Vignettes at Ocean Beach, San Diego. Just peeking in the windows, you know you're in for something fantastatic. Just enter the front door and hold on to your hat! Sensory overload!!!! I even got to see that painted upholstery thing! Very cool! Hat box. "Now this is cool. . . . Very cool," said Mr. Cottage of these mason jars on stems. There is a set of four of these. Ask me if I like them. Oh my, visit if you ever can! Me? I have to go get back in my body now! Back soon, Jacqueline Join me at My Romantic Home~Show & Tell Common Ground~Vintage Inspiration French Country Cottage~Feathered Nest Friday

Time for school again, and so I have my guest room "nursery" mostly to myself once more. It's sort of my think tank where I price shop stuff and manage my linens. This room is long overdue for an update. But there will always be linens strewn around in here as well. I just finished soaking a small tub of linens and pressing them while they were damp. It leaves a crisp smooth finish similar to starching (which I never do). These two small towels I found on my recent travels for just a couple of dollars each. I am partial to all white linens with a crochet trim. Look closely at the one on top for a butterfly worked in cross-stitch in an ivory thread. I am crazy about this sort of detail. This towel also has two different finishes on each end. I had mostly success with the soaking. Stains either went away or were much fainter after an overnight soak in Oxyclean and detergent, and a wash on the gentle or hand wash cycle. I never buy linens with terrible stains unless I plan to salvage parts. I was thrilled to find a pair of pillowcases with hand knit lace which is quite different from crochet. It is much more delicate, and hard to find in good condition. I found this pair of pillowcases with the deep lace trim in a local fleamarket. You see them just as I found them with an ivory cast which will be lost at the first wash. They are in like-new condition having been carefully kept for at least fifty to seventy years. That's some of the latest for me! I haven't worked with linens for awhile. And this is just a small pile. But there are few greater pleasures in the world. I hope you are getting in a few of your own pleasures as summer is winding down and we are transitioning to other things. Happy Days! As the end of summer and the beginning of fall approaches, I am so excited! COOLER WEATHER! It makes me actually want to move around again. The coolness permeates the house through the open windows in the mornings. It is invigorating, and I think, 'What will I do today?' Now don't get me wrong. I'm not so full of spunk that I am going to clean all the rooms in the house today, or get that huge project finished, or anything funny as that. But I do see some progress in my work, which to me, is quite exciting! Sewing is one of my favorite pastimes. Collecting sewing notions is something that I just cannot stop doing! I decided to pull together some pretties and show them off this week. Below, packages of Silhouette trim were a recent find that are going in the 'keep' collection! I hope you are all having a lovely week! And that cool breezes and refreshing days are part of your future! Take care and thank you so much for visiting me! Blessings, Doni
I have always been drawn to vintage linens. To me, they make things feel comfortable. The work that went into them is astonishing. In the 60s, every house we went to had doilies on every surface: lamp

Gosh, this has all been such a rush! I wanted to do so much more, but with the very unexpected and extremely short notice move to the cottage in France for the next few months, I just couldn't do it. But I have picked a winner for the altered egg box with all the little goodies inside. At least I had time for putting all the names in my heart shaped giveaway draw box :-). The winner of this is ROBIN, from A Robin's Nest. Please email me your address asap so that I can get it shipped before we leave for France tomorrow night. I also picked a handful of lovely people from the ones who comment so often and regularly ( Dorthe, Suzy, Alexandra, Julia, Rhonda and Lynn S ). I'll send you a few pages from that gorgeous Italian 1713. I am in such a mad rush to get everything done before tomorrow though, I don't have time to include anything else, I hope you'll understand. I will try my very best to keep in touch whilst we are in France. Keep your fingers crossed that we will be able to finally get broadband at the cottage! Toodlepip xxx PS - Can I just say that I immensely dislike the new blogger format? Of course it could just be me being a dumbo, but I find writing a post so much more fiddly now, placing photos etc. Dont like it. Why can't they just leave things alone, waahh??? dont like the home page either, making the intros to new posts from bloggers on my reading lists so huge is just silly, there is way too much from each blog, I constantly have click on view more because you almost get the whole post right there, lol. Well, not quite, but you get my drift. Can I change that? Does anybody know? I much prefer the old compact list. Ah well, I supose I'll get used to it in time. Still don't like it though. Humph. AND WHATS WITH ALL THE HUGE GAPS ON MY POST NOW??? I HATE IT!
