Happy Farmhouse Friday to you! Thanks to all of you who left sweet and understanding comments about rotten attitude yesterday. When I went back and reread my post later, my attitude seemed even more silly. It's a sunny, beautiful day today, and my outlook is so much better. I've always know gray, dreary days affected my mood - I just wish I could stay home on those days, so I'm not out finding fault with everyone I cross paths with! :) Okay...back
Last Saturday was a primitive dream come true! My friends Tammy and Debbie went with me to Cabin In The Woods and we had the best time. Che...

Decorating with primitives for the fall. Beautiful examples of fall decor in primitive rooms.
Lebrillos are a wonderful way to either add a touch of traditional Europe to one's home or contrarily to add a bold yet minimal statement to a home that desires to be clean-lined and updated.

Hello there.. Hope all is well with you... We are packing and trying to get moved to the cottage but I thought I would post a few Pinterest pics that interested me this week.. Looking for a few ideas for the old cottage and the next couple of Summer months... This will be the first Summer in 19 years that I have not worked away at either craft shows or the shop so I am looking for a bit of inspiration so that I do not waste my time... Perhaps I will read too much if I don't have a few creative chores to keep me busy... smile.. Hope they inspire you also.. If I could just get to a French car boot sale.. I would love to change the kitchen to a bit brighter colour.. Why I made it so primitive is beyond me but I kind of went with the flow of my crafts and that is how it was... I don't expect to get it done really as we have other plans but a girl can dream.. One of the first chores Terry will be undertaking is replacing our sink cupboard and putting in an antique sink and new cupboard.. I am excited about that as I have yearned for it for simply ages.. smile.. But the white walls probably will have to wait... Here is something I may accomplish as we already have an old table and I love the color of the blue.. eh? One of the things on my list of things to pack was the copper cleaner... Our copper is not this lovely but we do have a hanging pot holder that Terry made and the copper will need a good cleaning... Are you ladies collecting copper pieces.. I was telling my friend what a great investment it is when you find it at the thrift shops at a good price.. smile.. And.... I love this blue cupboard, too.. We have one in the dining room and I think I will try to rope our sweet girl into painting it with some Annie Sloan paint.. smile.. As you can see these are pins from my Pinterest and this one I love.. An old chair is going on the truck and red geraniums for sure.. I think there are a few pieces of enamel at the cottage that I can use.. A nice afternoon project... And of course we are into the jelly season and I can't help myself .. I will need to make some ... several... many... Whatever.. grin.. Love the covers.. When we go to the cottage I always look forward to using the brown transfer dishes that I have been collecting for a few years now... Do you like transfer ware? I love blue, red, green and brown is my fave.. This must be a pic from the UK... I noticed they have these curtains or drapes across their doors.. I love the look of the red... And that little heart wreath just catches your notice, eh? The lace in this window is sweet.. I found an old lace tablecloth today that I want to sew into kitchen valances this week.. My list is getting bigger by the minute.. I guess I will stop.. smile.. I must say I am looking forward to the Summer.. Being able to come back and forth to home will be such a change that I will enjoy.. Normally, we go down to the cottage and I stay there except for a couple of nights as I needed to keep the shop but now that I am retired I can come and go as I please.. Hopefully, we will head to P. E. I . for a few days also.. Don't ya just love Summer? Well God bless you all and thanks for visiting.. Tomorrow is the Lord's Day and He is greatly to be praised.. Such a good God and so thankful for his mercy and grace.. Hugs..

This "Butt'ry" (pantry) was previously used .... ..........for a Laundry Room! I forgot to take a picture of the icky rusty laundry sink that Hubby-Bear was quick to remove at my request, The floor was saturated and wet! Oh look! A Potato Box!........... with LOTS of LINT!!!!! The shop vac did a wonderful job of getting those little bullet plugs out! One at a time "pop pop pop"! "CITY people used to have pantries. The country counterpart of the pantry is called a "butt'ry." In occasional hidden corners of New England, this country room may still be found in use, but only the most old-fashioned houses, loved and lived in by the most old-fashioned kind of people have a "butt'ry" these days." The New England Butt'ry Shelf Cookbook Mary Mason Campbell *1968* (Illustrated by Tasha Tudor) I think I may just keep these swinging doors to the Butt'ry off (but I shall paint them proper just the same) Oooooooo!!!, two layers of contact paper!! Color inspiration! A cupboard from our previous Home fits in the Butt'ry as though it were made for it!! Coming together!! A neat Cellar Door latch! (a bit tricky to paint around)! Cellar Door "A big basket of apples fits into the corner; a pan of potatoes brought up from the cellar is next to the apples." A squeal of excitement came out of her mouth and startled the listening house. There before her eyes was a little store. All up the walls of that small room were shelves, and on the shelves were dishes, and pans and pots, and boxes, and cans. All around under the shelves stood barrels and boxes." A StorybookLife Blog: Creative Home Decorating Ideas I enjoy the lines of this piece - as well as the crackle finish on the swan
If you read the last post, you know I recently did two photo shoots in SC. You can read the last post ~here~ if you missed it. And if are a follower of my blog Behind My Red Door, you know that my dear friend Jill had the nerve to leave New England and move to Columbia, SC ! She went from being 2 hours away to 2 looong days away! It had something to do with leaving the snow behind, getting twice as much house for half the price, Jim being able to work outside as well as ride his motorcycle all year round or some other silly excuses I now can’t recall. All I know is that it is a LONG drive to get there! Now mind you, as capable as I am, I don’t do the driving ~ the mister does (by choice) but still, it is a looooong drive just the same! Thankfully she moved inland so we can avoid the dreaded rte. 95 corridor. I’ll give her that much! And when we get there ~ well it is always worth the drive! I’ll tell you all about the fun and food on my own blog when I find time, but today I will treat you to some sneak peeks of her gorgeous home. For those that don’t know, Jill and Jim make a lot of their own furniture. Jim is a carpenter by trade and Jill took years of woodworking classes at the local trade school in Maine. When they lived in Maine, they transformed the interior of their split entry home into a colonial style home. You can see pictures of that home if you click ~here~. When they bought their home in SC, it was the basic builders colonial with Pergo and carpeted floors, pickled pine cabinets and little warmth. Now, it is warm and inviting with gorgeous hardwood floors, crown moldings and chair rails, stenciling and filled with beautiful prim and colonial pieces. This summer Jim tore down the old deck and enlarged it and closed in half of it making a screened in porch. Between the two of them, they have done themselves proud! I’ll stop talking now and let you see just a wee bit of the eye candy….. Wait a minute?? Who do we have here?? It’s Sasha!! She wanted to say hi to all my friends in blogland!! Well that is it for sneak peeks for the SC trip! I hope you enjoyed seeing how 2 southern girls decorate! Thank you Jill and Jim for making me feel right at home! And Jill, thank you for all the help on both shoots ~ I truly appreciate it my dear friend. You are now forgiven for moving so far away~~~~NOT!! ~**~**~**~**~**~**~ As Thanksgiving approaches, I would like to take a moment to wish you all gift of time to stop and reflect on the many blessings of faith, family, friends, life, and love. Until next time ~ hugs, Linda
