Delhi, India, 1999 -- Pennti Sammallahti Pentti Sammallahti, born in 1950 in Helsinki, is a benchmark figure in contemporary Finnish photography. His unique observations capture authentic moments in time as he travels and photographs all over the world, finding beauty in the ordinary. Each of his exquisite compositions illustrate a sublime moment in time, allowing the viewer to pause and reflect on man’s relationship with nature and his surroundings. The exhibit celebrates the release of his long-awaited new monograph, Here Far Away. Dewi Lewis Publishing will release an English version of Sammallahti’s new book Ici Au Loin in November 2012. Containing roughly 239 photographs, Here Far Away is a comprehensive retrospective covering the last forty years of his career. The book’s printing allows the rich subtleties of his work to come through, making Here Far Away his most impressive monograph to date.
