I'm deviating from weddings just for today and, as promised, I'm finally posting the results of my adventures in searching for the perfect violet perfume! As someone who loves violets (actually, more like obsessed) I’ve recently been on a quest to try a variety of violet perfumes, hopeful that I'll find something that lives up to my ideals inspired by vintage French perfume and soap labels from when this scent was so popular in the 19th century. I hope we see this type of packaging again, by the way. I found there are many beautifully packaged violet perfumes available today, and over the last few months I’ve been trying them out. There are still many more to try, but so far these are the ones I feel are most worthy of sharing with you.

_______________________________________________________ Well with all the questions on how to use the violet sugar, I thought I would create a recipe using the sugar. These are shortbread cookies that are rolled out and cut. Similar to a sugar cookie but a bit firmer which will make them easier to dip in the violet scented chocolate. I sprinkled the cookies with the sugar and then after they are baked dip half the cookie in the chocolate. I think these would be adorable cut with a heart shaped cookie cutter. If you make these I would love to hear if you liked or hated them. Enjoy Violet Shortbreads 2 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter 1/2 cup powder sugar violet sugar for top of cookie * Chocolate dipping sauce 1/2 cup dark chocolate chopped or chips 3 TBL. violet sugar * Pre-heat 350 In mixer cream butter and sugar till fluffy. About 2 minutes. Add salt and flour. Mix till dough comes together. But do not over-mix. Chill dough 2 hours in fridge till firm. Roll dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thick. Hello Friends! Life has been very exciting around here! The much awaited, anticipated Baby Colton is here! Not without some drama and scares, but Baby and Mama are now doing great! They live about 1 1/2 hrs. from me, so I have been going up about twice a week to feed the parents, tidy up and revel in my new grandson! Boys are new territory for me, having had two girly girls, but my heart is so full when I'm with him: I know!! He is a such a good baby as well! Loving the whole Grandmother thing. The fabulous Vintage Marketplace in Southern California was held the first weekend in March. I love it, it's so inspiring, a great shopping opportunity, and a chance to catch up with some favorite vendors. Here's a brief tour: A closer look at the lovely ladies: Fairy garden magic: And of course it was a lovely day. Looking forward to the June show! I have been involved in a number of swaps lately, as well! Here is an altered peat pot I made for my Paper Soiree group: Covered the pot in a little French text papers, a little lace and a little burlap. The bird is a wood shape which I covered in text, on a wood birdcage, which was stamped in brown ink with a text stamp. I was not able to attend the meeting, but I was delighted to receive this adorable peat pot created by Michelle: I love the fabric wrapped wire, and the twig with the birdie on it, thanks so much Michelle! I have another peat pot to share, but I want to wait til my partner receives it, plus more swap fun to share with you, so please check back soon :) Hope Spring is making its way to you, especially to those of you who have suffered a harsh winter! Some cute Spring-y images for you: Click to enlarge, right click and save! Thanks for stopping by, wishing you all a lovely week! More Friday fun to be had at Fabulously Creative Friday! Let's cover a simple but important question: 'How should I name my artwork?' I'll cover: Simple and Descriptive For most artworks, a simple and descriptive title is sufficient. This year's Pantone's colour choice is Ultra Violet, which going by what I've read and heard may very well be the wrong colour full stop.
