Ghost Rider, one of my favorite Marvel Comics characters, brought to life through my eyes, style and artistic expression. Drawn and painted by Joseph Burke.

Here is an old concept piece of a "science fantasy" dragon rider. I was thinking about the mechanisms and pulley systems that would be needed to maneuver such a massive beast! it was fun to explore what that could look like. Here is my entire process including finding a good composition. One of the biggest challenges is to maintain the dynamic nature of the original sketch while being able to ground the anatomy and the realism of the final image. I find that more often than not, especially in professional assignments, there is a middle ground that needs to be reached for a successful image. I hope you guys like it!
