What's the first recognizable thing we draw as children? Often it's a stick figure. As grown-up artists, too, we like to include people in our mixed-media art: loved ones, interesting strangers, imaginary characters—even ourselves. Mixed-media Poppet portrait by Claudine Hellmuth. Drawing or painting a face or figure is the most common way of representing a…
The Pruitt-Igoe housing project in St. Louis became most famous at the moment of its demise. The thirty-three high-rise towers built in the 1950’s were supposed to solve the impending population crisis in inner city St. Louis. It was supposed to save the urban poor from the indignities of the downtown slums that lacked natural

Hello everyone, Today is Stampotique day ! Yay.. Kathy is our hostess today and she wants us to use 'attachers'. This is what she said: 'Use attachers, the older the better. Thinking of eyelets, brads, staples, etc. Bonus points if someone uses all three. Extra super bonus points if someone attaches Stampotique images to each other'. I made a card for this challenge and this is it: The base is a gelli print. I randomly stamped the background first and then stamped Skiddy, coloured her and cut her out, leaving a white 'box' around her. I then cut this piece into three. The pieces were glued and stapled to the card. And because Kathi said to use as many attachers as possible I also put 3 brads through the panel. The sentiment was stamped last. I used the following stamps: Ticket for Paris Romantic text Barcode Barcode Text Skiddy Why not play along with us. You could win one of two $30 vouchers at the end of the month. Just remember : NO digis and only one entry per person per challenge. Thank you for stopping by today!

Sanderson's have a FAB.U.LOUS 50s designs range!! I've resisted looking because I wasn't thinking about decorating, but now I'm starting to and some/one of these designs will be cropping up somewhere in our home - even if its just as cushions (the Festival print (below) would great on our black leather sofa!).... here's some eye candy for you so that you know what I'm getting excited about: I wish this blog had sound - you could hear me happy clapping and squeeling a little - LOVE these designs! I really like the 50s surface designs. Which is probably why I like this artist so much (her lino prints are delicate & gorgeous!) and find her work really inspirational: And why I reeeeeaaaally like Claudine Hellmuth's 'Creative Layers' stamps... the combination of foam & clear rubber stamps allows you to create the slightly offset lino/screen print look of 50's illustrations..LOVE..LOVE..LOVE!! This is the first tag I created using the Dwelling stamps set... keeping it quite simple (but not completely simple: two colour on the foam).. The tag was created with Sticky back canvas stuck to a chipboard tag and stamped using PaperArtsy's Fresco Finish paints (LOVE these!) which went really nicely onto the canvas (another surface they'll work on, but I don't know how stable they'll be for washing (I'll ask PA) so maybe just use them on decorative items for now....)

Key Tower was designed by architect César Pelli. It is the tallest building in both the city of Cleveland and the state of Ohio, the18th tallest building in the United States, and the 104th tallest building in the world. The building reaches 57 stories or 947 feet to the top of its spire, and it can be visible for up to twenty miles away. Cleveland’s 3rd tallest building at 658 feet tall, the BP Building opened in 1985. Designed by Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum, the building began with the dramatic implosion of the Cuyahoga and Williamson Buildings. The Ohio Bell Building is an art deco skyscraper located at 750 Huron Road in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. The building has 24 stories and rises to a height of 365 ft. It was designed by the firm of Hubbell and Benes, in what they called "Modern American Perpendicular Gothic", a style influenced by Eliel Saarinen's unrealized design for the Tribune Tower in Chicago. Work on the building began in 1925 and was completed in 1927 at a cost of $5 million. It was briefly the tallest building in Cleveland, surpassed in 1928 by the Terminal Tower. This is a high-quality 8x10 print, ready for framing. Photo ships within a few days of the order via USPS. With a mixture of technical analysis, witty banter, and straight up arguing, poker pros Grant Denison and Jonathan Levy discuss some of the most incredible poker hands ever played. They don't just tell you what happened, they examine (and often fight!) about the decisions each player makes. Should Phil Hellmuth call a big all-in in the 2010 National Heads Up Championship against young phenom Annette Oberstadt?Should Ike Haxton try to bully Phil Ivey on the bubble of a $100,000 buy in tournament? What should a player do with pocket kings on the very first hand of the 2018 WSOP Main Event? These and many more great hands get dissected in bite size (2-4 pages) chapters that entertain and enlighten. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll get better at poker.
