I saw this kind of post floating around and since I spent my whole evening yesterday checking all these pics I decided to post them here. :...
The peace I have now is worth
When I first read about the concept of being "debt free" I immediately dismissed it. Ya right, there's absolutely no way we'll be able to do that on one low-income with one little kid and another one on the way. That's great for them, but they don't know how much debt we have and how small our income is! At that point, I had pretty much accepted the fact that my husband and I would finally be paying off our student loans about the time our kids hit college age. There wasn't even a tiny inkling of hope that our family would be debt free within ten years, let alone one!
Valerie Bertinelli shared an array of new recipes from her latest cookbook, "Indulge."

With the circles the students are able to use them as notes as I teach the new concept. While I teach, the students jot down notes on their "circle maps". Finally, aft...

Description About the Book "True biz? The students at the River Valley School for the Deaf just want to hook up, pass their history final, and have doctors, politicians, and their parents stop telling them what to do with their bodies. This revelatory novel plunges readers into the halls of a residential school for the deaf, where they'll meet Charlie, a rebellious transfer student who's never met another deaf person before; Austin, the school's golden boy, whose world is rocked when his baby sister is born hearing; and February, the headmistress, who is fighting to keep her school open and her marriage intact, but might not be able to do both at the same time. As a series of crises both personal and political threaten to unravel each of them, Charlie, Austin, and February find their lives inextricable from one another-and changed forever. This is a story of sign language and lip-reading, cochlear implants and civil rights, isolation and injustice, first love and loss, and, above all, great persistence, daring, and joy. Absorbing and assured, idiosyncratic and relatable, this is an unforgettable journey into the Deaf community and a universal celebration of human connection"-- Book Synopsis A transporting novel that follows a year of seismic romantic, political, and familial shifts for a teacher and her students at a boarding school for the deaf, from the acclaimed author of Girl at War "Part tender coming-of-age story, part electrifying tale of political awakening, part heartfelt love letter to Deaf culture, True Biz is wholly a wonder."--Celeste Ng, New York Times bestselling author of Little Fires Everywhere ONE OF THE MOST ANTICIPATED BOOKS OF 2022--Oprah Daily, The Millions, Lit Hub, BookPage True biz (adj./exclamation; American Sign Language): really, seriously, definitely, real-talk True biz? Absorbing and assured, idiosyncratic and relatable, this is an unforgettable journey into the Deaf community and a universal celebration of human connection. Review Quotes "Part tender coming-of-age story, part electrifying tale of political awakening, part heartfelt love letter to Deaf culture, True Biz is wholly a wonder. Sara Novic examines the ways language can include, exclude, or help forge an identity--as well as what it means to carve out a place for yourself in a world that sees you as other."--Celeste Ng, New York Times bestselling author of Little Fires Everywhere "Rollicking, immersive, and boldly, exquisitely felt, True Biz delves into the deepest questions about community, communication, and collective action, inviting the reader into a world of language made new."--Alexandra Kleeman, author of Something New Under the Sun "This is my favorite kind of novel, fascinating and smart and brimming with contrasts. It's a coming-of-age story but also one of anarchy and protest. It's about the ways communities are bound but also the ways they bind. It's about belonging versus conforming, individual strength alongside solidarity. I laughed. I learned. I entered a world I knew too little about, at once different from mine and of course the same. I will be recommending this book to absolutely everyone."--Laurie Frankel, New York Times bestselling author of This Is How It Always Is and One Two Three "Reading True Biz was a transformative experience--it's as important a book as I've read in years. I was in awe of the care and love and hard-won wisdom that went into the writing of it. Sara Novic is the real deal."--Jami Attenberg, author of All This Could Be Yours "True Biz is exquisitely crafted and absolutely riveting."--Vendela Vida, author of We Run the Tides "In confident, funny prose, True Biz asks the question of all questions: Who are my people? And then, with enormous attunement to the embodied experience of being deaf and being human, answers it."--Emma Copley Eisenberg, author of The Third Rainbow Girl "Sara Novic's gifts for character, story, and language are evident from the first page. True Biz feels like the discovery of a new written form, a love letter to language itself."--Liz Moore, New York Times bestselling author of Long Bright River About the Author Sara Novic teaches in the Popular Fiction MFA program at Emerson College, and is an instructor of Deaf studies at Stockton University. Her first novel, Girl at War, won the American Library Association's Alex Award, and was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. Novic has an MFA in fiction and literary translation from Columbia University, and lives with her family in Philadelphia.
For most people in the Western world today, seeking out some degree of happiness in life is a major life goal. For those seeking happiness, simple living is often promoted as a way to achieve happiness, or at least to achieve a level of contentment from which happiness and joy can bubble up. Why is […]
He's everything she didn't know she wanted. She's everything he thought he could never have. The last thing I expect when I walk into The Hawkeye Club is to fall head over heels in lust. ItÆs supposed to be a rescue mission. I have to get my baby sister off the pole, into some clothes, and out of the grasp of the pussy peddler who somehow manipulated her into stripping. But the moment I see Savage Hawke and verbally spar with him, my ability to remain rational flies out the window and my libido takes center stage. IÆve never wanted a relationshipùmy time is better spent focusing on taking down the scum running this cityùbut what I want and what I need are apparently two different things. Danika Eriksson storms into my office in her high heels and on her high horse. Her holier-than-thou attitude and accusations should offend me, but instead, I canÆt get her out of my head or my heart. Her incomparable drive, take-no-prisoners attitude, and blatant honesty captivate me and hold me prisoner. I should steer clear, but my self-preservation instinct is apparently deadùwhich is exactly what our relationship will be once she knows everything. ItÆs only a matter of time. The truth doesnÆt always set you free. Sometimes, it just royally screws you. ***Savage Collision is the first book in The Hawke Family Series. While it is a complete story, it is NOT meant to be read as a standalone. The story of the Hawke siblings continues in book two, Tortured Skye, book three, Stone Sober, and finally book four, Building Storm. These stories all build on one another and are intertwined. They need to be read in order to fully enjoy and understand the plots. Many reviews for Savage Collision contain MAJOR spoilers for the book without being marked as containing spoilers. This book is best enjoyed without the spoiler information. *** | Author: Gwyn McNamee | Publisher: Twitching Pen Editing | Publication Date: Sep 21, 2016 | Number of Pages: 338 pages | Language: English | Binding: Paperback/Fiction | ISBN-10: 0997859407 | ISBN-13: 9780997859409
