This funny handcrafted sign would be a wonderful gift idea for those you know with "Irish Eyes". Measures 6x14 inches Signs are made of ½ inch mdf, a wooden building material which won't warp or crack. The material is smooth, without knots and makes for a much nicer finished sign. Each sign is cut to shape and painted with acrylic paint and sanded. The design is then added, each individually and each is a little different. A final top coat of a catalyzed varnish is applied and the sign is ready to go. Key-hole slots are cut in the back for hanging on a nail or screw. The sign slides onto the nail or screw and fits flat against the wall. 💗See more from our shop. https://www.etsy.com/shop/CountryWorkshop

But then again, maybe you wouldn’t. I watched a LOT of Irish movies over the past few weeks, in the hopes of finding a few to recommend for a fun St. Patrick’s Day family movie night. But I found that many them made me want to throw myself into the pit of despair. Now, we […]

When Irish I's Are Smiling
Day 13: Monday meant back to work! I headed to the bus around 8:00 to head up to Montenotte to the pool. The most enjoyable part of my day at the pool was my time spent with a physical therapist. He was seeing clients who had cerebral palsy and he explained everything he was doing in depth. Each step he took he gave me an explanation as to why he was doing it and he told me to ask him any questions I could think of. After work we had class. The principals of the three schools within the COPE Foundation came and spoke about the special education system in Ireland and what it takes for parents to send their students to COPE. Today was also the first day we saw rain in Ireland. It was freezing and incredibly windy. We were all told that this is typical Irish weather though and the weather we had been having hadn't been seen in seven years. So I suppose we were lucky to have good weather for a little bit. We caught the bus back, but I stopped off at the gym. I need to get my gym time in as it is my stress reliever, but it definitely made for an extremely long day. I walked back into the apartment at 9:00, took a shower, ate some dinner, talked with Michael on Skype, and then called it a night. Day 14: I woke up this morning to blue bread and spoiled milk. All of the food here goes back super quickly as there are no preservatives. We have been told to only buy groceries for three days but it is really hard when you don't get back until late. I started work in Glasheen today, which is another segment of the COPE Foundation. I helped in the PE department. This was my favorite day at work so far. The COPE Foundation is putting on a performing arts show in a couple of weeks and all of the clients are practicing. I went to help out with one of the dances and we drove to a place near the City Centre of Cork. We did a dance called capoeira. It is a form of Brazilian martial arts. After that I went back and had lunch and then helped out with another dance group. They were practicing dances to Lady Gaga, One Direction, and Shakira. It was the most adorable thing to watch and I can't wait to see them perform later this month. After work I went to the gym and then went to the store to get a few more groceries to last a couple of days. I started getting a sore throat today because of the weather and the high amount of activity so I hope that doesn't turn into anything too bad! Day 15: Today I woke up to go to the gym early so I wouldn't be getting back at 9:00PM again. After that I came back and got ready for work and headed to Glasheen again. Today was super fun again. I went with the clients who are participating in Special Olympics this Saturday and helped them practice their running and gave them some tips. Therefore, I ended up exercising twice today. I was shocked at how fast they were. I was in a sweat. After that we dropped those clients off, picked up the clients to go swimming, and headed straight for the pool. I helped a woman swim that hadn't swam in quite some time. We only went half the distance of the pool and back so she could work on getting her endurance back up. I finally had lunch around 2:15. I was starving! My lunch break was so late that it was basically the end of my day because we get an our for lunch and I was done working at 3:30. After lunch I headed to the Montenotte house for class. A group of us worked on our reading and homework for this week and then the head of the special education department at Mary Immaculate College came and spoke. It was so interesting to learn about the differences between the education received in Ireland versus that in the United States. I have enjoyed each speaker that we have had so much because it is so intriguing to learn about all of the differences. Today was a little more difficult though, not because of the speaker, but because I didn't feel well. I think the busy pace of our work days has finally caught up to me. I have had numerous cups of tea as that is the norm here in Ireland and I am going to get some good rest! Tomorrow is the last work day of the week and I am at the pool! Friday we are headed to the Cliffs of Moher!!
