Title: Where Ansel Stood This image is of the famous San Francisco De Asis Church in Taos, New Mexico. It wa sa great pleasure to visit this amazing, 100 year old church. This church is made out of adobe, and the whole community comes out a couple of times a year to maintain this unusual structure. I photographed this building from every angle, and really loved this view of the back. When I was there I knew that Ansel Adams had photographed the building, and that the famous painter, Georgia O'Keefe had painted it. I didn't know until later, when I looked up his photo, and then I saw mine, that I must have been standing within a few feet of where he stood, and it gave me chills. He is one of my photography heroes! Your print will be made to order at a professional photo lab, using high quality paper and archival Inks. Your image will be printed on metallic paper, with a luster coat to protect it against fingerprints and fading for years to come. Larger sizes are available, as are canvas, metal or standout mounted prints. Please inquire if you would like a quote. Thanks!
To maximize the chances your package will arrive before Christmas, please order BEFORE November 24 Up for sale today is this Taos, New Mexico city limit sign. Made to the exact standard used starting in the 1990s, the sign features a stylized interpretation of Taos, surrounded by a more standardized font welcoming you to the city. It is the county seat of Taos county, and the name comes from the native Taos language meaning "(place of) red willows". An original of these is not only very rare to find scrapped, but is a herculean effort to transport; the Taos police also generally know where they should all be (not in your garage). So here is your chance to own an excellent display piece, without chancing legal trouble... or a hernia. The sign is flat printed on heavy gauge steel, with completely accurate layout and fonts. It is a precise rescaling of the original sign down to a more manageable selection of sizes: 16x8, 24x12, 36x18, 48x24, and 72x36 inches. It is a non-reflective sign - perfect for ordinary display, indoors or outdoors. (if you would like a larger size version, please ask as I can certainly make one!) The 72x36 version will be printed on two 36x36 inch panels, with mounting holes along the top and bottom edges to accommodate two rails for stability. This assembly and mounting process will be left up to the buyer. This is a high quality, heavy steel sign. Accept no imitations that may be one-third this price, but are one-tenth the quality. No cheap tin to be found here, with the wrong fonts, layouts, size, shape, or any other manner of embarrassing imperfection. This one will make even the most discerning collector stick their nose into the sign, as it looks that good from that close! I can of course make these signs with any route number of your choice, and not just this style, but older and newer ones, and even the classic mileage, direction, and city limit guide signs from the era. Anything you would like, made with unsurpassed quality right here in the good old US of A. Please note: actual international shipping will be calculated on a case by case basis. Santa Clare is the Patroness of Needleworkers, Embroiderers, Goldsmiths, Laundry, Gilders, Telephones, Telegraphs, Television and Santa Clara Pueblo; Invoked against Sore Eyes and Eye Disease. Foundress of the nuns referred to as "Poor Clare's". She was inspired by San Francisco who was a friend and a mentor. She ran away from home to a chapel where San Francisco shaved off her hair, took away her beautiful noblewoman clothes and married her to Christ in a rough brown robe. Soon after, her Sister Agnes and other women joined her. They lived a life of poverty. They ate no meat, wore no shoes and were silent most of the time. Lynn Garlick Retablos grew organically over a period of 20 years. To create these heart-felt paintings of saints, angels and blessings, Lynn has brought to the folk art of Retablo making, all the skills and passions that she has learned through a lifetime of drawing, woodworking and painting. She is a long time resident of Taos, New Mexico. Moved by the sacred art of the retablo paintings and the santeros (saint makers) who made them, she started creating them herself. Lynn handcarves and paints her original designs on the traditionally used ponderosa pine planks. Then she decoupages high quality prints of her originals onto pine boards, in an old school technique used for the Italian altar screens of medieval Europe. Speaking of her work, Lynn says, "The diverse cultures and the landscape of this part of the country deeply and yet unintentionally influenced me both artistically and spiritually. I am nourished by Northern New Mexico's rugged wildness and rawness. The profound devotion found in the different traditions and faiths here are unusual and inspiring. My original Retablos are painted on board with watercolor. I produce these prints with a deep appreciation of the santero and what has come before". Includes a statement about the saint on the reverse side. Most are available as either an ornament or a wall hanging. The Ornaments are hand printed on a masonite board with a thread for easy hanging. The Retablos range in size from 9" to 13" inches tall and are 5 1/2" wide by 3/4" thick. Ornaments range in size from 4" to 6" tall by 2 1/2" to 3" wide by 1/8" thick. From Made in New Mexico. Ships Next Business Day. Satisfaction Guaranteed.

"Yogini" by Mike Giant does not come framed; please contact us for framing options and pricing. "Yogini" is 72 x 72 inches, ink and graphite on paper. This piece of original artwork is signed by Mike Giant and comes with an Original Artwork Letter of Provenance from 1xRUN. Opening Friday, November 11th, 2017 at Inner State Gallery in Detroit, Michigan, artist Mike Giant unveiled Impermanent Vacation: an entirely new body of work which includes "Traffic Cop". The Colorado-based artist, illustrator and counter culture icon showcased new works on vintage paper, letterheads and more for his first ever Detroit exhibition. "I see my life as a human being as an ‘Impermanent Vacation.’ It is our nature to grow old and die. It doesn't last. As a gentle reminder of my own mortality, I have the same words tattooed on my hands. The tattoos are a reminder to have fun with life, to keep a positive mental attitude, to treat it like a vacation. I also think about those who wish to end my vacation, namely law enforcement. The pieces in the show were produced with these themes in mind. Uplifting and optimistic on the one side, critical and confrontational on the other,” Giant said from his Colorado studio. ABOUT THE ARTIST: Born in 1971 in upstate New York, artist Mike Giant began drawing as soon as he could hold a crayon. His family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1979 where he was immersed in BMX bikes, skateboarding, heavy metal, punk rock, hip-hop and gang violence. He graduated in the top 10% of his high school class and attended the University of New Mexico (UNM) on scholarship as an architecture major. He began writing graffiti under the name “Giant” just before starting college and got his first tattoo soon after. In 1993 he was offered a full-time job drawing graphics for Think Skateboards in San Francisco and decided to leave UNM without a degree. After four years at Think, he lived in London briefly, then returned to San Francisco to work in animation. In 1998, Giant was offered an apprenticeship in tattooing by Nalla Smith. He began tattooing full-time a year or so later, and worked in legendary shops like East Side Ink, Newskool and Everlasting. Giant made tattoos full-time for a decade before switching his attention to REBEL8, a clothing brand he founded with his old friend Joshy D in 2003. Then, after 20 years in California, Mike moved to Boulder, Colorado where he currently lives and works.
This unique and beautiful mezuzah case is made from the unique and beautiful branch of a cottonwood tree that grows next to my workshop in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. A windstorm sent some of its branches to the ground and I turned them into mezuzah cases. The mezuzah case comes in a crisp new cotton filled gift box and includes a non-kosher photocopied scroll, stainless steel nails for hanging, and a twelve-page mini booklet in English or Spanish with lots of information about mezuzahs. I carve the Hebrew letter shin spontaneously, directly into the wood, according to the grain patterns and shape of the branch. and then paint it with high quality U.V. resistant black paint. These mezuzah cases will last a long time (mine is over thirty years old and shows no sign of wear and tear) in a sheltered doorway. Exposed to the elements, they may develop a weathered look. I will gladly refund or exchange any mezuzah case for any reason, at any time, no questions asked. I have made well over a thousand mezuzah cases from tree branches. No two are exactly the same. They vary one to the next like people's faces differ one to the next, sometimes markedly and sometimes subtly. Maybe that's why I never tire of making them. When I started making mezuzot in 1990, I knew very little about them. I didn’t know that much about Jewish law either. All of my grandparents were Orthodox but my Jewish studies were very limited. I started carving mezuzah cases and immediately started learning. First thing was the Hebrew letter shin. As I carved my first shin, copying it from another mezuzah, I began to feel the shape of it, the feeling of it. I learned there are many ways to represent the letter. But what did the shin represent? I learned that each of the Hebrew letters has its own meaning. I began to have a relationship with the Hebrew language I never had before. Shin is the first letter in the word "Shaddai". one of the names for God. "Shaddai" also translates as "my breast". How do you hang a mezuzah? Where does it go? Slanting in or slanting out or straight up and down? What is the meaning of the scroll inside? How is it used? What is it for? There are many things you can learn by owning and using a mezuzah. If you were raised Jewish, in a secular way, as I was, it can teach you more deeply of your own tradition. If you are a practicing Jew, you already know that hanging mezuzot on the doorposts of your home full-fills one of the sacred obligations of Judaism; and if you are just discovering your Jewish origins, or want to come to Judaism, or simply want to share this one beautiful custom, the mezuzah will take you as far as you want to go. Once you own a mezuzah case carved from the branch of a tree that was gathered by a person who found meaning in the object and continues to find meaning in the making, my hope is that you will feel a little more connected to nature, to history, to yourself and to me. When you see the mezuzah, or touch it, you are making contact with yourself and with more than yourself. Approximate dimensions: 3 5/8" h x 3/4"w x 1/2" thick. The slot for the scroll is 1/4"w x 1/4"d x 3"h. If you would like to receive a Spanish language version of the booklet, just send me a Convo.

Travel poster of the colorful old city of Guanajuato in the heart of Mexico. The illustration features the iconic yellow Basilica of Our Lady of Guanajuato and the beautiful multicolored architecture surrounding it. This collection of travel posters began when I was living abroad. I would visit these remarkable places and wanted artwork to remember the beauty long after returning home. As I couldn't always find exactly what I was looking for, so I began to create pieces for myself, and then later for friends as gifts and slowly it evolved into a shop. The prints are created in a retro travel poster style and are a wonderful way to visually celebrate your own time spent traveling, to accentuate where your ancestral roots are from, or to display destinations you long to see someday. I'm working on new posters all of the time, so be sure to check back as new designs come out. Artwork from this collection make an excellent gift for the art lover or world traveler in your life, and look fantastic whether grouped together or as individual pieces. Check out the rest of the collection to decide which pieces speak to you most! (Multiple prints may be ordered simultaneously to save on shipping.) Individual print is 12"x18" in size, printed on 100 lb. weight card stock and printed with vibrant, high quality inks. Orders are shipped on a weekly basis. It is possible to print larger sizes, and to ship outside of the US in some cases, but please contact me directly to work out the details. I also take commissions. I have made commissioned artwork for everything from clothing labels to wedding invitations to birthday gifts celebrating an ancestral homeland. If you don't see the location you desire in my collection, feel free to contact me for more details on pricing and the scope of commissioned work. Thanks for stopping by! The Madonna of Northern New Mexico is for all the suffering of creatures, both great and small. the physical and emotional drives and hungers of both man and beast, are the natural course of the endless cycle of this great life. My painting, is my prayer that all creatures know for a moment in life, the sacred place inside themselves where there is no more hungry beast to feed, but only peace and harmony. In this work, The spirit of a man is represented in connection with music. The way we close our eyes and let ourselves be carried away by that thread of life that takes us to the place we create. The man touches the surface of the water and underneath is the resonance that is born from the heart, the call to life in balance. The mermaids come to this call, sharing a special gift. A balance from the very essence of the spirit that creates and transforms. Each being is magical, each being is special. "I have always thought that every time one of the drums is played with the works I have made, in its sound a message is also spread that is directed to the heart of the world, each work speaks of spirituality, magic, change, "of the sacred, the delicate, the mystical, the new and the old. A work with a message that invites us to awaken the heart and our sacred connection with life." Hello, good morning, thank you very much for visiting my store. I tell you that the skin I use is from Mula, a cross between a horse and a donkey. It is a very resistant leather and has greater density, which helps it resist cold climates better compared to cow, horse, deer, deer, sheep, etc. skins. These types of animals are not raised for food use like other animals, they are used for carrying in the mountains of Mexico and die naturally. The advantage of this leather is its durability over time and resistance to humidity and cold. The binding and resistance of the skin prevent it from coming loose with humidity, helping the paint not to suffer constant stretching and contraction due to cold and heat. The wood I use is pine from a community in the mountains of Nayarit, where they plant it in a balanced way with the existing forest of the place. This wood helps the drum not to have an exaggerated weight. The drum is tied with a special rope that, since it is not made of leather, helps to always maintain the tension of the drum. The sound of the drum is very exquisite, having a lot of resonance and used for singing as well as healing or sound therapies due to the strength and delicacy of the sound. The size I have is 40cm in diameter and has a weight that ranges between 1 kg and 1,100 kg. It includes the drumstick to play, covered in fabric so that the sound is more harmonious and sweet, and it also helps prevent the protective paint from coming off. They have to try to keep the drumstick free of dirt and sand. The drums are carved and their drawing will never disappear, being the only skin that can be carved without losing sound and resistance over time. Another type of leather mentioned above loses its shape over time, blooming the skin with moisture. The Drums are assembled and then move on to the drawing phase, where the drum is played and drawn directly on the skin of the drum, with the indications that the person wants. It is drawn until it is felt that energy is coming out of the drum. Then the drawing is carved so that it remains forever on the drum. It is then drawn with acrylic paint. Once the painting is finished, it is left to rest for two days, to observe it and add the details that I feel will contribute to achieving a perfect image full of magic. Finally, 7 layers of protective paint are added so that it lasts for many years without the paint erasing. Tell me something about yourself and what you would like to have in your drum, there is a message for each being. Any doubt we are in contact. Ariel Navia Becerra Shamanic Carved Drum

I'm not sure where this bag was made. I had an old adobe in San Miguel de Allende Mexico and when we had to come to the states I let it out, mostly to wandering musicians known as hippies in Mexico. Lots of our stuff was in the house and it included a really old bag like this one. But mine was blues and whites, it was very used, aged and looked it. The Peruvian flute player liked my bag so much that he left me this one. My bag was from Greece and the 70's, it did not have the flap like this new bag and it didn't have the strings to tie it shut either. ( The stings to tie it shut are a really big improvement, they are shown in the photos.) I know that those Peruvians had just gotten back to Mexico from North Africa so I wonder if the bag is from Morocco? The colors look like Moroco. The weave is very tight and I think from a back strap loom. The two tassels on the bottom of the bag are an added plus. I don't see anything on the bag that is snagged or broken. I am calling it a market bag because back in the 70's the strap would be on your right shoulder and the bag rode on your left hip. The strap is 29 inches long and one inch wide. In Europe we were back packing and living in camp grounds with tents! The market bag went everywhere with me and also a sketch pad was always ready inside the bag. I remember that many many people had these bags back then. I also remember that they were made in Greece, Africa, and Latin America. The bag is 14 inches tall and 13 inches wide. The previously mentioned flap is 3 and 3 3/4 inches 0.

Patroness of Waitresses, Cooks and Dietitians. Martha was the sister of Mary and Lazarus. It was for her that Christ raised Lazarus from the dead and said, "I am the resurrection and the life". It is said that Martha had the courage of a man and the heart of a woman. Christ gently teased her for her domestic bustling instead of living the quiet contemplative life Mary led. Martha was exiled. She came to the Province of Marseilles where she preached and worked miracles. It is said that Christ served at her funeral and burial. Patroness of Cyclists. During the middle ages The Count of Ghisallo was being attacked by bandits. He prayed for help. The Madonna appeared to him. He ran toward her and was saved from the bandits. After that, she became known as the Madonna del Ghisallo, Patroness of Travelers. The Giro Lombardia bicycle race runs past where the Madonna appeared. In 1949, a local priest asked the pope to make her the patroness of cyclists. Lynn Garlick Retablos grew organically over a period of 20 years.
