These wine cork crafts are a great way to give your home a unique look on a budget! Best part is, they actually look really nice!
Everyone loves wine, right? Well maybe not everybody, but I know I certainly do! I actually discovered a new favorite the other day, red moscato! If you enjoy sweet wines, it is definitely a must try! I may or may not have finished an entire bottle to myself just because it was so good... oops! Anyway, after you're finished enjoying that delicious wine of your choice, it's easy to just throw the bottle in the recycle bin and think nothing more of it. But if you're a crafty person like me, there are so many interesting ways to up-cycle using both the wine bottle and the cork! You can use them as house decorations, wedding centerpieces... the ideas are endless! These ideas below are some of my personal favorites! Wine Cork Drink Coaster These are super cute, inexpensive to make, and very practical. What better coaster to use when enjoying wine but one made with wine corks and small picture frames? I will definitely be making some of these soon! Picture credit to and directions available at: http://www.pincookie.com/diy-rustic-cork-coasters-using-small-picture-frames/# Glittered Wine Bottles This website calls for smaller bottles, but glittered wine bottles would also make adorable vases for holiday decorations or anything else you would want to use them for! Again, this craft is both simple and inexpensive! Photo credit to and directions available at: http://organizeyourstuffnow.com/wordpress/glittered-bottles Decorated Wine Bottles Wine bottles painted the color of your choice and chalkboard spray paint can be used in many different ways: as a thank you gift, table settings, the possibilities are endless! The chalkboard paint will allow you to write and erase endlessly, making these bottles easily reusable. Photo credit to and directions available at: http://www.creativejuicesdecor.com/2011/05/wine-bottles-spray-paint-and-chalkoh-my.html Twine Wrapped Wine Bottle Unfortunately the directions on this website are in French, but even if you are too lazy to use a translator (like me) this craft still appears simple to make. Use modge podge as you go, and slowly wrap the bottle in twine. This would make a perfect vase or decoration in a rustic themed home, or as a center piece for a rustic themed wedding. This is one of my personal favorites, and I will definitely be making one soon! It's also so simple to add personal touches such as lace or flowers to the bottle. Picture credits to and directions (in French) available at: http://aur0re.blogspot.fr/2012/09/do-it-yourself1.html Wine Cork Candle Holder Even if you are the least crafty person alive, this is one project that I have complete confidence that you can master. As long as you like wine anyway, because you will need a lot of corks. All you need are two glass cylinders, one smaller for the candle in the center, and a larger cylinder to place the corks in surrounding the smaller cylinder. All you have to do is place the candle and corks in their cylinders, and you're done! Super cute and super easy! Photo credit to and directions available at: http://www.twotwentyone.net/2011/08/wine-cork-candle-holder/ Hope I've helped to inspire some wine bottle crafting. Has anybody tried any of these ideas or have any other awesome wine bottle crafts? Feel free to share, I'd love to hear about it!

When chemical compound TCA comes into contact with natural cork, it causes moldy, musty aromas in wine. But are all corks susceptible? And is that expensive bottle of Champagne at risk from cork taint?

*This post may contain affiliate links. We are huge wine drinkers in our family… Family event? Pour the wine! Holiday? Pour the wine! Random Tuesday night? Pour the wine! Needless to say, we have collected a lot of corks over the years. And they are perfect for crafting! A couple of weeks ago when Brian and I were out doing a little bit of Christmas shopping, I came across the cutest ornaments at Kohl’s that were made from corks. I knew immediately that I could make something pretty much identical for a fraction of the cost and I haven’t done a DIY project here on the blog in forever, so I knew it was meant to be! And y’all these are a piece of cake to make! What You Need 9 wine corks (If you don't have any laying around you can buy huge bags of them on Amazon for practically nothing. Check out this bag of 100 for only $13.50!!) Ribbon (I love this gold cord!) Hot glue gun (I have this one and I love it!) Green Leaves (I found mine at Michaels, but these are a good option) Purple glitter paint (I used this) Paint brush (any basic one like one in this inexpensive set will do) Step One Cut a piece of ribbon to around 8 inches and fold in half. Step Two Hot glue the two loose ends of ribbon between two of the corks. This will form a loop at the top of your ornament and you will use that loop to hang the ornament on your tree. Step Three Hot glue another cork below the two corks that have already been glued. Step Four Continue hot gluing the corks until you complete the pattern. Step Five Hot glue the leaves to the top of the corks near the loop for your hanger. Step Six Once all corks have been hot glued together, paint the ends of the corks purple. I did the front and the back of the corks so both sides look finished since ornaments tend to spin on the tree. I painted two thick coats of paint on mine to ensure even coverage. These are absolutely darling… perfect for the wine lovers in your life! And you could also paint them green (or any other color for that matter) as well! And if you don't feel like making your own, you can buy some here on Amazon with free shipping! Now on to the announcement! I am so excited to announce that I have teamed up with some wonderful ladies to co-host a Holiday Home Tour Link-up. The party will kick off Tuesday, December 6. Just grab our graphic or our button, post your home tour, and link-up with us sometime between December 6 and December 24. We can’t wait to see all of your beautiful homes decked for the holidays! We hope you will join us! *Linking up with Our Pretty Little Girls for Tuesday Talk.

I Love You to the Moon & Back Wine Bottle Lights Décor Bottle Lights Care and Operation Instructions: 1. The lights are LED starry lights from an artificial wine cork. They take 1 AAA battery (the battery is not included). 2. The top of the artificial wine cork is removed by twisting to add/change the battery. Simply twist the top of the cork back on after adding/changing the battery. To turn the lights on twist the top of the cork tightly to the direction the cap indicates. When turning the lights off simply twist the cork to the direction the cap indicates. 3. Make sure that the spring in the detachable part of the cork is tightly inserted. 4. The detachable portion of the artificial wine cork can be left on the cork while the lights are turned off. 5. Since it is artificial and also a battery pack, it sits loosely in the top of the wine bottle yet tightly enough that when the bottle is sitting for display it sits nicely. 6. These lights completes the look of a wine bottle although the “cork” is artificial. The images and wording are made from an outdoor, permanent vinyl. The photos show the differences in hues of the clear bottles. All bottles are 750mL clear, recycled bottles. Some of the bottle have different hues to them such as a darker clear or a blueish clear. Bottle Finish: All wine bottles are upcycled. The bottles go through a thorough cleaning process, then the labels are removed, and then the bottles are cleaned again and go through a drying process. Please keep in mind that these are all recycled wine bottles and they are thoroughly cleaned. If there are any marks on the bottle it is from the recycling and cleaning process. However they will be hardly noticeable. The bottles are lightly frosted so that the wording and images are clear to read and view when the lights are turned both off and on. Lightly Frosted Info: 1. The lightly frosted finish helps the image on the bottle be more visible in some cases. 2. Please take care not to have the bottle hit against any rough surfaces as it can leave marks in the frosting. 3. When handling the bottle, hold the bottle from the stem. If you touch the frosting parts of the bottle, fingerprints can be left visible on the frosting.
