a journey around my turntable
Marlene Dietrich and her turntable, 1956 Originally known as a phonograph (or gramophone), turntables have been around since 1877. I think it’s fair to say that many of us have fond memories of our first Fisher-Price record player, and that most of you who are reading this right now still probably own a turntable and a fat stack of records to boot. Billie Holiday, her boxer Mister and her turntable, 1945 I’m sure you’ve probably seen many photos of your favorite rock stars or celebrities posing with their prized record collections, or spinning said vinyl on a sweet portable turntable in a hotel room. That said, I’m going to hedge a bet that the vast majority of the photos in this post will be new to your eyes. From screen icons like Marlene Dietrich to musical chanteuse Billie Holiday, they all adored their turntables. And I’ve dug up photographic proof of this love affair that in some cases dates back all the way to 1925. I’ve done my best to attach dates to the images. The “good old days,” have never looked better. Enjoy! Jean Harlow in a shot from The Girl from Missouri, 1934 ...

Really want to start doing more concept shoots as well as fashion and modeling shoots in general. Thought of this idea and luckily my friend at school (Cassidy Wolf) was down to model for it. Thank you Jeff Thomas for all your help on this shoot, that dude is so talented it's insane. If you have been wondering where I've been, I've been shooting a lot. I just haven't been posting on flickr at all. BMX is still what I've been doing the majority of my shooting for but I've been branching out as well. Hit me up if you have any questions about what I've been doing! Strobist: AB 800 top left through strip softbox and AB 800 bottom right through beauty dish. (I don't remember the powers they were on)

Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney filmed Two for the Road in the south of France during the summer of 1966 and the pre-publicity was all about a major shift in Hepburn’s career. “Audrey Hepburn Swings? You’re Kidding” was the headline in an article in Ladies Home Journal and it spoke of nude scenes and trendy … Continue reading "“Audrey Hepburn Swings!” – Marvelous Photos from the Movie ‘Two For the Road’"
Weiterlesen
