Are there things, objects, that you can't help but feel drawn to? I love old clocks, wooden crates, books. I've also always wanted a stereoscope. I've wanted to make my own for a while and finally got around to looking into how to make one. Graphic 45's Olde Curiosity Shoppe—Deluxe Collector's Edition seemed the perfect paper choice! And I'm so pleased with myself because the stereoscope works like a charm! Most of what I read suggested 3x lenses. I tried a few different magnifications and ended up using a pair of 4x's magnification reading glasses. Maybe it's because my eyes are a little weak that they worked better for me? Not sure, but I popped the lenses out of the frames, and simply glued them in place inside the viewer. Perfecto! I didn't add many embellishments to this piece. I wanted to keep it looking like a usable object rather than a decorative item. There's a restrained trim, a couple of Antique Brass Stamped Metal Brads. But how perfect is that graphic from the Optical Oddities page of Olde Curiosity Shoppe? Those stereocards? A vintage story of love told in a series of public domain images from a museum collection. Because I think everyone should be as excited about stereoscopes as I am, I've put together a big fat tutorial for this project with three parts. The pattern The cards The video tutorial Here are all the other bits you'll need to create this project: Antique Brass Stamped Metal Brads Olde Curiosity Shoppe—Deluxe Collector's Edition Clearsnap Decades Dye Pad Dark Cashmere Cheap reading glasses 3x's (I used 4x) Thick card White Glue Glue Stick Scissors Thats it! Just a handful of things to make a really neat something :) Now all I have to do is figure out how to make my own stereoview images...

About 1890s large Mill decorative pine crate (Crate 4) 1890s large Mill decorative pine crate. We were recently contacted about the clearance of an old textile mill West of Leeds, the mill had stopped working as a textile mill many years ago and was now refurbishing electronic components. Hidden at the back of one of the workshops we found a group of the original mill equipment, workbenches, storage boxes and so on. The crate is a generous size, they make brilliant log baskets/storage boxes or just decorative crates. The crate has a twisted wire construction as shown. The markings, stamped on are totally original, even the oval makers stamp WM Bannister & Co Ltd Cowling Nr. Keighley. Workshop report Our workshop team inspect every product and carry out any needed repairs to ensure that everything leaves us serviced and maintained ready for many more years of life. Here are 8 ways to make customized furniture with plastic crates.
We are lucky enough to live in a township where recycling is picked up at our house weekly. Up until last week, we've used the area of our garage right outside of the kitchen door to store our recycling in between pick-ups. To be honest- this area has been an eyesore. We basically just used a trash can, a cardboard box, and a basket to collect our recyclables. Anything that didn't fit into these containers just got placed somewhere nearby until recycling day. It looked pretty bad. Take a a look at these "before" pictures: Here are the materials I used to create a more organized home recycling center: 4 wooden crates (I found them on sale for around $8 each at Joanne's), 4 tubes of brightly colored paint (I had to go back to the store to buy a second tube of each), a paint brush, and some alphabet stencils. Then, I painted each crate a different color and used the stencil to label each one. I decided to make one crate for bottles (and jars), one for paper, one for cans, and one for cardboard. For the two crates on the bottom, I carefully used a hammer to remove one or two slats for easy access. Finally, I used some extra paint to label my trash can. Here was the result: I couldn't wait to start to use my new home recycling center! Here's one more before and after shot: Hopefully, I've given you some ideas to think about. Happy organizing! 8 Unique, natural striped "lucky" wish rocks in a hand-painted wooden crate. Every stone is different. Every stone is beautiful! You will receive 8 wish stones similar to the pics in the listing. Every stone is different. Every stone is beautiful! Each banded stone is unique in size, shape, and character. These stones are gray with an unbroken, white-striped ring. Your lucky wish stones were found in remote southern Maine coves and have been rounded by the rugged Atlantic surf for thousands of years. A "wishing rock" is a beach stone with a single perfectly unbroken stripe all the way around the circumference of the rock. For a rock to qualify as an authentic wishing rock, there can be no breaks or pauses in the white quartz ring. The ring can be crossed by other rings but must have no beginning and no end. Finding one with a single, unbroken ring amongst millions of other stones on a beach is pretty darn lucky in itself. Popular lore holds that if you make a wish with the stone for yourself, it is believed to come true, but if you make a wish for someone else with it, their wish and all of yours are said to come true Great for wedding favors, spa gifts, harmony gifts, stone collectors, natural home decor, and garden or patio decorating. —————————————————— 💙 DETAILS 💙 —————————————————— -> SIZE: 1.25-2.25" -> Comes in an aqua mesh bag with a note explaining what a "wish rock" is. —————————————————— “The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” -William Faulkner - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 🐚 Please visit our website mainesaltygirl.com for additional options and a selection of HOME DECOR items. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Our driftwood, sea glass, and beach stones are from majestic southern Maine where there are plenty of rocky and sandy beaches and miles and miles of rugged coastline creating the perfect environment for tumbling driftwood and sea glass, and beach stones. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ⚓ Genuine surf-tumbled beach wood ⚓ Rain rinsed and sun-dried only - NO chemicals used ⚓ From saltwater beaches - never marshy areas that can cause rot and bugs - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - *** Learn More About Salty Girl: Website: mainesaltygirl.com Instagram: mainesaltygirl Pinterest: mainesaltygirl Facebook: saltygirlhandthelongdog Etsy Shop: MaineSaltyGirl

Introducing my newest obsession... I love crates...especially the old, vintage-y ones. I love the color and the lettering on the side. I see these bad boys and my mind goes crazy. Just look at some of the amazing vignettes you can create with them. I'd love to get my hands on a dozen or so of them, so I could create my own shelves (how fun would they be in a playroom?), but I've had a hard time finding some and the ones I have found are a little pricy so that dream will have to wait...for now. I did, however, come across these little guys at Joanne's the other day. They were $9.99 each. I know...blah. But look at these. With a little stain and some glaze you can turn a drab "new" crate into a fab "old" one. I started out by staining the crate. The stain I used was ebony (it's all I had on hand), but I would recommend something a little lighter, like walnut. Next I glazed over the stained crate. I mixed up my own glaze using After the glaze was dry, I stensiled on some lettering and...of course, numbers. These bad boys are sitting at my shop currently, but I have my fingers crossed they don't sell. I think I might want to use them in my bathroom as shelves and to replace the boring old towel rack. I'm in the process of revamping my bathroom, so I'll be sure to post the before and afters when I get it done. Could be awhile, but... P.S. If any of you have used crates in fun and different ways I'd love to see your pics. I'm always up for fabulous decorating inspiration.

Still in a strange haitus, thanks for your support in the last few posts everyone. I know we all get this from time to time :D Nature has filled in quite a bit for me for this one. Last week I dragged a friend to the beach, and then embarked on a long mini beach combing session. Apparently it looked a bit strange and he suggested (if there is a) next time we should wear white overalls and fence the beach off, because it looked like a "crime scene investigation" was in progress. Not surprised either, finding tiny shells involves getting your eyes as close to the sand as possible and then carefully picking over it...I'll get him to take a photo of me in action! Many people walked past and the odd dog got in the way, I don't remember much, just lots of coarse sand with the odd nice shell in it. The Shells are a mix of Dogwhelks, Periwinkles (ridiculous amount of those), Flattops (Gibbula..) Cone shells (Turritella..) and cowries. Driftwood twigs. You can break driftwood twig into smaller sizes and then sand the ends. The starfish are made using thick wire and soldered in the centre, the tips are rounded off with a file and then sponge painted. I REALLY, REALLY LOVE THESE! Miniature Japanese style glass floats, made using crochet thread and marbles. I made one for Genevieve in a swap, though I've perfected them a bit since then, particularly the colour, Genevieve, if you want a refit, get in touch! I used a brilliant video and picture tutorial by Sharon Ojala, which you can see below. Instead of using a wire ring, I made a loop in the middle of one of the eight threads needed. Lovely little beach finds! Tiny limpet shells, sea glass and coral weed. The pretty little spiral one is a Gibbula Umbilicalis (thank goodness for Google :D ) Edit :- I was just reading that a stunted version of Coral weed grows in high shore pools, which makes it perfect for miniatures eh? This is the skeleton of the plant, washed ashore. Crates with rope handles (lollypop sticks and linen thread) Er...yeah. getting there. The tomato leaves and flowers are from a Georgie Steed kit. Instead of using the red beads supplied I made little tomatoes with fimo, which came out a little RED! I had made the plant up, but then decided it was far too big and took it all apart, next time maybe....... :D I almost managed to see this happen in a rock pool, but unfortunately there were two crabs fighting over the same shell, so I had to watch it on youtube instead..I should have flipped a coin for them and removed the loser :D
