Dolch words are high frequency English vocabulary commonly used to teach children to read. It is compiled by Edward William Dolch, a major proponent of the "whole-word" method of beginning reading instruction. Basically, the list contains 220 words that Dolch thought should be easily recognized in order to achieve reading fluency in the English language. These words are combination of pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions and verbs.
