La instantánea, obra de Anthony Suau, muestra a un agente armado de Ohio durante el registro de la casa de una familia desahuciada por no poder hacer frente al pago de su hipoteca EFE / REUTERS - La Haya / Amsterdam El fotógrafo norteamericano Anthony Suau ha sido proclamado hoy ganador del World Press Photo 2008 en la categoría de Foto del Año por una instantánea en blanco y negro tomada en marzo del año pasado para un reportaje de la revista Time sobre la crisis económica. Recordando a una clásica fotografía bélica, la imagen muestra a un agente armado en Cleveland, en el Estado de Ohio, que apunta con su pistola hacia una puerta tras la que se supone están los moradores de una vivienda que han sido desahuciados por no poder asumir el pago de la hipoteca. Los miembros del jurado consideran que la fuerza de la instantánea radica precisamente en que "parece una foto de guerra (..), pero se trata de gente que simplemente no han podido pagar sus deudas, han sido desahuciados y por ello están siendo atacados", ha señalado la miembro del jurado MaryAnne Golon. Para su compañero Akinbode Akinbiyi, "al verla, la gente en todo el mundo puede pensar: 'Esto es lo que nos está ocurriendo a todos".
