Hi everyone and I bet your ready for the weekend as much as I am!! I'm back today with my second 'Girl Friday' post for March and this one is a doozy, so grab a BIG cup of coffee, an EVEN BIGGER packet of chocolate biscuits and settle in for possibly something new...... I love die-cutting!! Stamps are fantastic but I love die-cutting so much and any way I can find to get the shapes and designs I want with my dies on a card, makes me very happy indeed. And I found one! Well, for me anyway....someone else has probably already come up with this and I'm usually a bit behind with my techniques so I'm sorry if you've seen this before.... I've always wanted to create a circle or pattern with my dies where the die-cuts are of an equal distance. My eye-sight is terrible so I could never eye-ball it and it frustrated me so much....until......I realised I could do this by using my Gina K. Design Wreath Builder Template and any stamp set with matching dies! This is what I did: Using the 4x4 inch template, I cut a piece of white cardstock the same size as the whole template. I used temporary tape to adhere the template on top of cardstock and put in my MISTI. Using a flower from the Mon-Ami stamp set I set it up to stamp in all four corners. I then used it again to stamp in the other four corners. This is what you end up with. You could use whatever colour or type of ink you liked as it depends on whether you want to use the die-cut flowers again or not. I removed the template and grabbed the matching Mon-Ami Fleur Fri-die and die-cut every flower. I now have a PERFECT circle/wreath of die-cut flowers!! Now you could simply colour the flowers you just die-cut and in-lay them back in but I went a bit further..... I trimmed the panel down so that it would sit on a 4.5x4.5 inch card base with room around it. I held it in place with some washi tape and stamped the flower in each die-cut hole. I was then able to add foam tape to the back of the die-cut panel and pop it up PERFECTLY over the stamped flowers. You won't believe how excited I was that this worked and I have MILLIONS of ideas of different cards to make with this technique. All I had to do then was die-cut a circle of white cardstock with one of the Ornament Tag Fri-dies (which turned out to fit perfectly in the middle of my wreath), stamp a sentiment from Frankly'isms and pop it up on foam tape. I glued on some sequins from Neat and Tangled and a clear jewel on each flower from Studio Katia. Ta-Da!! What do you think?? I really hope this has given you a different way to look at your stamp sets with matching dies. And if your thinking of purchasing any of the products I used today or any others from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps don't forget to use my special code to save yourself some money!! Whew, that was one long blog post and I hope your still hanging in there with me. Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you back here again soon with some new card ideas. Take care Shona
I hadn’t played with my Gina K. Designs Wreath Builder in a while, so I decided to use it with a stamp that wasn’t necessarily designed for the wreath builder, but as will many, many stamps out there, where there is a will, there’s a cute card project waiting. This cute little heart envelope is […]
Hello there, If you've been following me for a while, you know that I love to create cute wreaths using my DIY wreath builder. This tool is really easy to make, the possibilities are endless and the result is always amazing, whatever images you chose. For this card, I created a simple red berry wreath and added a few elements to decorate it. So, I first started by the wreath, and for that I used my homemade wreath builder to stamp the berry branch image multiple times in circle. Next I stamped the fairies and small gifts images. Everything was stamped on Neenah solar white cardstock, and colored using alcohol markers. I gold heat embossed my sentiment, and cute it using the coordinating die. I cut the fairies and gifts using the coordinating dies as well. I applied clear drops on the berries, attached the images and the sentiment on the wreath using foam adhesive squares, glued some gold sequins here and there, added clear glitter on the fairies wings, and attached the panel on a white card base to finish the project. I mentioned in my last post that I recently attended a class taught by Gina Krupsky, owner of Gina K Designs and her daughter, Rina. Gina is the mastermind behind the Wreath Builder template and stamp sets. This tool and coordinating stamps create the most beautiful cards so easily. I really can’t attempt to give a good tutorial on these but you most certainly can find many on YouTube. I think once you see… Continue reading
Hello there, I'm back with three new festive wreaths I made using several stamp sets and my homemade wreath builder. Very easy and fast to make! I first started by stamping all the wreaths on Neenah solar white cardstock using alcohol marker friendly black ink and my wreath stencil. Next I colored everything using the same colors for each panel. I gold heat embossed the sentiment and cut them using the coordinating dies. I also stamped "merry christmas" three times and cut them. Frames each panel using a circle die and a square die, attached the sentiment elements in the middle of each panel using foam adhesive squares, and glued each panel on a white card base. Hello everyone! Welcome to another fabulous blog hop celebrating the new Gina K. Designs Wreath Builder Mini Kit, Stippled Flowers stam...
Sorry I haven't posted for a little while. Busy with Chrissy "stuff", Regional swaps and work. I have a couple of Christmas wreath cards ...
This last Monday was the Gina K Merry Monday day and she was using the new Wreath Builder Templates to demonstrate what the new template has to offer. I do not have the new template (yet!) But I managed to make a few cards. Gina showed how to make your own background paper and then to make a small wreath using the new templates...I had to use a pencil to make sure I was lining it up right and to die cut my stitched circle in the correct place...but it worked. I did use a smaller fir stamp for the small wreath with the sentiment. It is from PTI Tinsel & Tags Sprigs set. And the berries my BFF found for me in a PTI stamp set called Sprig Wreath (because it was a small wreath, I needed smaller berries!) And for this one I used lots of elements from the Wreath Builder: Holiday set and for the greens I mostly used Altenew inks (Green Fields Cubed inks) except for one from Catherine Pooler inks...the eucalyptus color, I like that color! The bow is from The Greetery: Fit to Be Tied. Gina did a demo, probably on a Wednesday a few weeks back again using the wreath builder, and I managed to get one card made using that one: Okay, that is it for me, time to close up shop and sit and relax and do some knitting! Heart Hugs, friends!
Challenge and inspiration for card makers, stamping, and die cutting.

Here is what I came up with: My colour scheme was inspired by autumn. I just love how the trees near my home change from green, to yellow to orange and then red. So I used these colours in my card. I cut out a piece of Whisper White cardstock and punched out a 1-3/4" circle from a scrap of paper and then trimmed it down a little. I temporarily attached the trimmed circle to the piece of Whisper White cardstock, this was to act as a guide when stamping my leaf images. Using the cute little leaf image from the Thoughtful Branches set I stamped the first circle of leaves in Old Olive. The next circle of leaves were stamped using Daffodil Delight, then Pumpkin Pie and lastly Real Red. I then removed my temporary circle from the centre of the leaves. I grabbed a sheet of Old Olive cardstock and the "For You" stamp from the Thoughtful Branches set and stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink and then heat embossed the sentiment using White embossing powder. I punched out the sentiment using my 1-3/4" circle punch and adhered it to the centre of the Old Olive circle of leaves using Snail adhesive. I layered the stamped piece of Whisper White on to a piece of Real Red cardstock using Snail and then using more Snail adhered it to my Whisper White card base. And there you have it, my autumn inspired "For You" card. The great thing about using this sentiment is the card can be used for a variety of occasions.
